Another question from me. Lol.

Hey guys. Here comes another question. Do the guns you guys play with use:

Plastic 6mm-8mm BBs
(Pictured here http://www.bbgunworld.com/store/usri...r10000ammo.jpg )

OR

Copper Ball BBs?

(Pictured here: http://www.bbgunworld.com/store/usri...-bbs-(2500.jpg )

Strelok October 10th, 2008 18:14

6mm is more common, 8 is in there, mainly for the classics

The copper balls? Uh, no. thats for a pellet/bb rifle, potentially dangerous

Awesome. :D

Also, what do you guys think of the website: http://www.buyairsoft.ca/catalog/

Is it a good website to buy from? What are some other airsoft related canadian store websites?

THE CAT October 10th, 2008 18:19

0.12 Camo-Ammo? If your ROF is high enough you could get a MARPAT stream or something.

I hear the search feature on this site answers questions. Care to give it a try?

L473ncy October 10th, 2008 19:39

I believe the Marushin's (classic, probably older than I am actually) used 8mm's.

I almost got one off the Classifieds.... Too slow though.

I don't think they will be dangerous at Airsoft velocity.

I would be more worried of those things coming at me and breaking plastic buckles or scratching my gear.

hattrick October 10th, 2008 20:02

marushin classics? umm how bout 90% of modern marushin use 8mm

L473ncy October 10th, 2008 21:38

Wow... I haven't done much research into Marushin's (I thought that they switched to 6mm) but I guess I stand corrected.

I use 6mm .25g bbs for tmy tm ak-47
.20 bbs for my we 1911 hicappa
Ive never seen anyone use anything other than 6mm in the field before, as most guns fucntion better with 6mm.

Love October 11th, 2008 12:17

Nice. Thanks guys. I'm planning on getting some guns as we speak. I got my paycheck. Mmm :3

Also a question for you guys: I'm ofcourse 18, turned 18 this June. I dont really have a peice of
Identification that tells my age and such. I'll explain.

I was born and raised in Ontario canada. So I am a canadian citizen (sweet).
I have a health card, but its the ancient red and white one. I was told to upgrade when I was 16, but it wasnt manditory so I didnt do it.
I dont have ID. As, I dont have my license. I just dont have time nor money to get my license right now.
I have a social insurance number card, with my name on it.
I ofcourse have my birth certificate, but its in TERRIBLE condition. Not Laminated, at all. Ripped in some places, and I basically cant carry it with me or it will disintegrate. Haha.

Now, heres the question. When going to a tournament for airsoft (Some of you guys hold some, dont ya?) would I have to bring identification which identifies my age?

Also, some other questions.
These may have been awnsered before, if so I am sorry for not searching.

We have 2 members on our "team" (if you care to call it that), that have a similar problem.

One team member is underage. Hes 16, but turning 17 this december. I know this rule applies with paintball, but I'm wondering if it does apply with airsoft also. As long as theres a guardian or parent for him on the playing fields, would the underage teammate be able to play? (When, I did paintball when I was 16, I had to have my dad or 20 year old friend there with me to sign as a guardian for me.)

Also, another one of our teammates is 17. He has an ID problem thats worse than mine, haha.
When he was born, his mom never got a birth certificate. She got a birth registration form and such, but no certificate. Therefor, my other teammate does not have a Social Insurance Number, nor does he have a license, or basically any ID other than a health card which is coincidentally the old white and red one, I think. If the playing field requires ID, what would he have to bring? Parent? Guardian?

Thanks guys.

you should use heavier BBs for your hicapa

I'm planning on buying some from the website I posted up there. and yes, their clearsoft. *waits for flames*

Lol, I realized I put the wrong year for my age. Yea, I'm smart like that. *Someone yells out "Dumbass!"

haha. I put 1982, and I meant for it to be 1990. Its a habit of mine, to just scroll through the age screen and pick a random year.

Guns ONLY function with 6mm (or 8mm in some cases)

Lythinca: Sounds like you have a piece of governement ID or two, so you should be fine (birth certificate should do it)

The thing is, My birth cert is in horrible condition like I said. I cant really bring it anywhere with me. Getting a new one takes a long time, I think.

Also, what about the underage and guardian question that I asked?

Karnage October 11th, 2008 13:17

It depends on the field, some are strictly 18+, others let 16+ play with the approval of a guardian/parent that would also be present.

Love October 11th, 2008 13:18

Nice. Thats good to know.

Some type of ID with a photo and a birthdate will serve you best. Maybe a driver's license perhaps?

A birth certificate would seem useless as there is no way for the verifier to tie it to you. I got into far too many bars and X-rated movies by knowing how to spell someone else's name backwards myself.

Beazer October 11th, 2008 14:00

Gov issued ID is the only acceptable form of primary ID, as in a driver's license, armed forces ID, and a passport.

If you don't have one then you should aquire some otherwise your setting yourself up bad.

You should be able to get an ID card from your local auto insurers. Not expensive.

A birth certificate is only good for secondary ID, and guardian's can only be blood related.

Love October 11th, 2008 14:03

You sure its only blood related? My stepdad has been my legal guardian on many occassions. When I was younger, my mom went to jail. He was then my legal guardian until she got out 3 weeks later. I've also had my friends dad get me into a paintball field as he signed to be my guardian.

Nor, does the defination of a legal guardian say he/she has to be blood related. Hmm.

Tech October 11th, 2008 14:35

legal guardian is the person responsible for your actions, so it is anyone of age who signed for you.

Love October 11th, 2008 14:42

Thought so! Hmm, well I could sign for the other members of the team then. Awesome. I appreciate the help guys.

Don't be sorry, just take a few mins and SEARCH! Its obvious you know that we hate it when people don't search, so why are you asking anyways...

On another note, Id cards are cheap from the government, and depending on the line up that day, they take no time at all to have made up.

People, please read his post -- STOP suggesting the use of a drivers license.

Retro October 11th, 2008 15:17

In BC you can just go down the the DMV and get your picture taken and the give you a BC ID. It looks exactly like a DL except you cant drive with it, different color banner on top. I think it costs like $20 or something.

Love October 11th, 2008 17:06

Hmm. Well, right now I'm debating something.

A Crossman M70 (Looks like a Mini MP5), is at Canadian Tire for $50 (Incl. Tax). Sure, its probably a crappy gun, due to it being clearsoft but its all I need for right now.

Or, I could get a Crossman R70 (Looks like a M4A1) for about $130.

Or, I could get another gun that looks like a MP5-PDW with Silencer and with goggles and a pistol for $120.

I'm thinking about just getting the M70, due to me already having Goggles and a Pistol and not needing another set. I'm tempted to buy off the net, but the M70 so far looks like the cheapest automatic Crapsoft gun that I can get. (Other than that peice of crap Daisy Mini Kalashnikov thats $20.)

Sure, I could save up more for a better gun, but right now I'm just after a gun that will be good for just playing with a group of friends until we actually get a real team together or something. Sure, I could save up just a little more and get a "better" crapsoft gun off the net, but then I have to pay shipping, and wait 1-2 weeks for it to arrive.

What are your opinions on my situation? The M70 is like probably the best CHEAP beginner crapsoft gun, in my eyes. And, if I go out and buy it tonight, I'll have it tonight with no wait times and such.

Also, I see a lot of videos on youtube about kids hooking up another 2 batteries in a series to certain guns to DOUBLE the firerate. Is that a good idea? My guess is that it would decrease accuracy or damage the electric motor inside the gun.

L473ncy October 11th, 2008 17:47

OK. First things first, get verified cause you don't know how much stuff is being sold for your price range.

Also I believe that you can go to your local DMV and get a picture ID (in BC it's called BCID exactly like a DL except it's not, different background and it says on it THIS IS NOT A DRIVERS LICENCE).

You could always go and test for your G2 or whatever it's called and get a Photo ID that way. I mean you're 18 so your parents don't have to sign for you or whatever (in BC if you're under 18 you have to get your parents to sign for you to get your Learners)

As for purchasing right now, don't and save your money. ________ was doing an order but the place he was getting from ran out. You can easily get a cheap gun off the classifieds, also there are other clearsoft that just need a shimming, and some paint and you should be able field them.

Love October 11th, 2008 17:54

Hmm, well I do have a disposable income. Right now, I'm only playing with friends and stuff. I dont want to purchase a "good" gun until we actually make a real "team". Due to me tending to: Lose things, break things, get things taken away, or buying it once and never using it again.

L473ncy October 11th, 2008 22:01

In that case an Aftermath Kraken might be right up your alley. Aprox $150-200 depending on where you can find one (SIRmailorder carries some of them I think).

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PLAY WHERE THE GENERAL PUBLIC CAN SEE YOU!!!!

I hope that you're going to be plinking in your basement or in the case of a closed and high fenced back yard, there.

The best thing to get your feet wet is actually a Kraken, don't settle for anything lower in grade.

Love October 11th, 2008 23:05

Hmm, well I'll keep that in mind. I'll buy a kraken once, I get into airsoft more. For now, its crapsoft for me. Thanks for the tips.

Real airsofters don't buy "good" guns because they need to make real "team". Most airsofters do not belong to any teams. We buy good guns because bad guns suck.

Tech October 11th, 2008 23:28

ya buy the kraken if you don't feel like spending much its a great gun for its price range. Don't buy Crossman I made that mistake at first and after my second game it broke and their went 140$ of mine down the drain if I had spent an extra 60$ I would have had an extremely durable/reliable gun that would have lasted for ages.

Love October 11th, 2008 23:31

Hmm. I'll debate it with myself. You guys seem like a pretty good community. I'll stick around. I have to admit something though. Im 17. Bahaha. If it wasnt obvious, in which it was.

What crossman gun did you buy?

Tech October 11th, 2008 23:34

I had the Crossman Pulse R72
Edit- The 17 thing was pretty obvious lol

Love October 11th, 2008 23:36

I'm checking out this sirmailorder website. Its pretty sweet.
Is the only good gun on this page, the kraken?

http://www.sirmailorder.ca/show_prod...b4a7c945e46c9f

tycho October 11th, 2008 23:44

The Kracken, the Sig, the TF11 and TF7 are all decent. I actually think I accidently listed those in descending order of quality, too heh.

But please just wait until you're 18...save money until your birthday, get verified, and get a gun from the classifieds here. The best thing about the status of airsoft in canada is that AEGs don't really depreciate all that much...

Love October 11th, 2008 23:48

Hmm, thats like a whole year away.

I like the TF7. You say its pretty good?

I see a gun on there called the: Uzi Mini Electric Assault Gun , but its probably a Peice of Crap, am I right?

With the Canadian dollar losing value against the US dollar I think airsoft is actually a good investment now, at least for those who bought the guns when the CDN was in parity with the U.S. dollar :)

Love October 12th, 2008 00:05

Does Sirmailorder accept canadian money order? Thats like the only way I can pay. Unfortunatly.

Skladfin October 12th, 2008 00:19

Love October 12th, 2008 00:51

What do you guys think about this gun? Its made by "Fire Power".

http://www.sirmailorder.ca/show_prod...9492333f0bc5ea

Sure, its not as expensive as the Kraken or the other guns, but thats the point. Its cheaper. I'll do a forum search to see if theres a review on it.

Edit: Lol, I was searching a peterborough airsoft website, and theres a Ak47 that people say is "decent" for like $42. Heh. I want that. I think it may be a cheap replica of a kraken. Lol

Skladfin October 12th, 2008 01:27

and seriously, that gun is SO shit

Love October 12th, 2008 01:30

The ak, is crap?

How so? Whats so bad about it? Its only 150 FPS.

Skladfin October 12th, 2008 01:32

I have been in possesion of the Kraken before, twice actually, and it shot like shit. Though it's the best one out of the clearsofts, not that its really hard to get that title.

Voice of Reason October 12th, 2008 01:39

I disagree with that statement...

Wrath144 October 12th, 2008 01:43

Dude, take it from me. I am underaged and bought a Kraken. Guess where it is now. It's in pieces on my basement floor. No matter what way you look at it, cheap guns are NOT new-player friendly. Sure, the price tag is, but WHEN it breaks, not if, the cost to fix it will probably end up being more than the gun itself. Wait until you turn 18, like me, and save your money. If you're working and living at home it will be no problem to get $6-700 in 6 months or so for an AEG, mags and a battery.

Voice of Reason October 12th, 2008 01:45

Wrath144 October 12th, 2008 01:46

Love October 12th, 2008 01:47

Haha. See, I'm not the type of person who has the money, will power, time, and airsoft-leetness to dish out $600 on a gun. I'd be happy with a $42 Kraken Clearsoft Replica, until I can afford like a $200-$300 Mp5 or something. (Or even a $140 MP5. Haha)

What did you do with it, krakens may be a good airsoft guns but they are not as strong as a real AK you cannot abuse them like the real thing. And did you even do any maintenance on it? Even a good AEG needs maintenance.

I have ANOTHER question. Yay?

Uhm, I see a pistol on here. http://www.businessvision.net/edge/M...SKU=225%2D3003

Are these the types of sidearms that you guys use? Like it takes .177 BBs. I think those are the "metal/copper" BBs arent they? Do you guys use that type of BBs in handguns, or no?

Tech October 12th, 2008 12:50

NO DO NOT USE IT look at it it clearly says .177 we use plastic 6mm, also we sure as hell would not allow a 480fps handgun on the field

Skladfin October 12th, 2008 12:54

Dude, you're 17, use your common fucking sense. 480FPS .177cal can KILL you.

I waited it out for 3 years, I'm sure you can wait it out for 1. You should really be focusing on school.
