Starter Rifle
What would you guys recommend for a good first airsoft rifle. It's gotta be electric, full auto, decent accuracy, and rate of fire isn't a big concern.
|
I hate to break it to you, but this will get you flamed for not reading the FAQ!

Get age verified. You have to be 18. If you are not 18+ then you're going to have to wait a few years. If you are 18+, then Tokyo Marui is always a good choice. If you want to go a little more expensive then the Classic Army line of M4's are all metal. You can buy from 007airsoft.com or from shootsoft.cabut you must be age-verified to visit shootsoft. Good luck!

Ive looked online and done some research so far im lookin at either the tm g3sg1, or the G&G UMG on 007airsoft. And i was just looking for some firsthand help from you guys because you have prior experience in airsoft guns so i figured you would have better insight than i would, and im 19 i turn 20 in june so please dont condescend me.

fill out your profile so people can better help you, esp the age verifiers.

What is good is a matter of opinion, in most cases though cost is reflective of quality.
Gun reviews can be found all over the internet, regardless which search engine you use, a different combination of search words can yield different searches. Let me keep it short and sweet, for the bulk of it, AEGS are simple motors that drive pistons that compress a spring to expel air to propel a BB down a barrel. How you want that set up to look is up to you. There are many brands of companies out there that make airsoft guns, how much you pay maybe relevant to the quality you receive. Something else to consider is how easy it would be for you to attain additional magazines and replacements parts for your selected AEG. |
Full auto and decent accuracy... Go with a AK.
|
g36c!!!
|
there really isnt no "best starter" its just everyones opinions
find a gun that you like then read reviews if it sounds good and can do what you want then there you go |
If you're going with most compatibility/ upgradability an M4 or AK of some sort would be your best model. There are innumerable options for both of those platforms and offer you a chance to create a gun to your liking. They also offer options from both sides of the Canada/ US vs. Terrorists conflict that's going on now, as well as the old school Cold War and Vietnam War era conflicts to suit almost all your tastes.
I'd recommend G&P for a manufacturer over any other, but their internals do require a minimal bit of work out of the box. So if you can't get that work done, or can't do it yourself, your next best bet is a Classic Army gun. |
I was pretty set on the tokyo marui g3sg1 but i saw a video online of this guy saying that he had it for 3 days had only shot it twice and the gears messed up. So that made me kind of uneasy. and although i love the basic design of the ump i havent seen many options for customizations and im worried that with such a short barrel the accuracy will severly suffer.
|
If you know your gun, you can fix anything. It could have been a simple shim job and the gun would shoot right as rain. UMP's may be a more rare item as far as popularity and upgradability. However, if your looking at internal upgrades you need parts that match the version of the gearbox. Shorter barrels can be less accurate then say an M16 but you also need to consider what your going to be using this weapon for. Woodland? CQB?
Get verified and come on down to the classifieds, you'll kick yourself for buying over priced stuff and waiting 3 months at 007. |
wow 3 months. thx for the tip.
|
It's not about the gun..It's how your skills come into contact with the weapon. ;)
|
lol are you trying to get all philosophical on me
|
Hitman is quite right. It's how you play that will determine which gun is best for you.
Personally, I'd recommend a Classic Army G36 full size or a Tokyo Marui M14. Those guns have nice long barrels that will give you great accuracy stock. The CA *might* need some preventative maintanence, though I've put probably over 20,000 rounds through mine and it's still going strong. The G36 is nice because it's light for a full size rifle, but it only has a small battery so upgrade potential is limited without modifacation. |
3 months is a short time for 007 standards. get verified and goto a private dealer.

i know clearsoft aint exactly a favorite subject around here but i bought my little brother a tactical force tf7 for his 16th birthday and after charging the battery it wouldnt fire so we charged it again still wouldnt fire. I know the battery is charged because after i took it off the charger it was pretty warm and i know hes puttin it in the gun the correct way, so do you guys got any idea whats wrong with it.

Agreed. Do some preventative maintenance on it an THROW IT THE F**K OUT! In all seriousness, Clearsoft is crap. |
i know its crap thats why im savin up for one of the high end airsoft guns but it was a present for my brother so do you got any tips for what might be wrong.
|
Does the motor do anything at all? If not, it could be burnt out. Or the trigger switch may be FUBARed. The wiring could be faulty, or the fuse could be blown [Assuming it has one].
If I were you, I would regard this as lesson #1 and stay far away from clearsoft in the future. |

no the motor doesnt do anything im hoping the wires just got disconnected somewhere. and no skladfin it aint mine. right now the only airguns i have are pellets guns. I have a walther cp99 with a nickel slide and i just sold my beretta px4, and a crosman 2240. Ive only ever owned one airsoft gun it was an electric clear beretta (piece of shit broke in two days) that was the last time i ever used airsoft.
|
When you pull the trigger, can you feel the motor move or click? Does the battery get hot when you try to fire it?
|
no nothing happens at all.

Hehe. |
Then its a power supply problem, test your battery to be sure that its holding a charge, just because it gets warm doesn't mean it charged. Check fuse, wiring soldering. Could be the tabs connected to your motor as well.
Hope you find the problem. |
ya thx, how exactly do you check if a battery has a charge.
|
put it in your gun and try shooting it?
if you feel the power is lacking compared to the first few shots you took, then you need to discharge it and get it juiced up again. |
wow apparently you didn't read any of the other posts, it wont shoot at all but it seems like the battery has power but im not sure so i need to know how to check that.

If your confident, start dismantling it. Start with the motor plate and see if its the problem, if not check near where the battery is stored for a fuse or dissconnected wire. If its neither of those you may need to check further inside the gun until you find the problem.
