Lerch April 25th, 2008 01:47

Bye guys!

So on Monday morning I finally got through to CFRC and got the word that I'd be leaving for BMQ...on the 3rd!
That's right guys, on the 1st I'm being sworn in to the Canadian Forces (RegF), on the 2nd, the movers come, and on the 3rd I go. Course starts on the 5th :D

Sweet Zombie Jesus I'm starting to get nervous now, mostly from the tedious waiting, but damn...
So yeah, hopefully with my iPod I'll still be able to browse the forums, but definately expect some gratuitous pictures while I'm gone!

Course completes on the 8th of August, and then...we'll see what happens from there ;)

Firewalker April 25th, 2008 01:48

Congrats man. :D

Just remember, the BB's in the army are a bit different... ;)

Lakonian April 25th, 2008 01:51

That's kinda funny. I thought you were in the forces all along. LOL

Well, giv'r hell.

TrueTGN April 25th, 2008 01:51

Nice! If I had of got my secondary urine test (make sure my kidneys are alright or some shit) in sooner I probably would have been leaving at the same time as you.

I had 2 good friends leave for their BMQ on march 29th.. say hi for me lmao.

Oh ya and have fun!

Wilson April 25th, 2008 01:54

The pull is always there for me. I want to, but...

Brit ter April 25th, 2008 06:51

Hey don,t worry you,ll do fine , take it from someone who did 9 1/2 in the regs.

Syn April 25th, 2008 08:28

All the best to you!! Walk in with the attitude that this will be a chance to prove yourself and a positive mindset. You'll do fine if you keep you eye on the prize and don't sweat the small stuff.

Enjoy your bed inpections with the ruler. lol

The Saint April 25th, 2008 10:02

Good luck mate.

Gerkraz April 25th, 2008 10:06

All the best, Lerch! Piece of advice I got from my LT friend when I applied for the forces (and was denied :( ): keep your feet as clean as possible to avoid unnecessary blisters.

jakster April 25th, 2008 10:09

Good luck, enjoy yourself and remember only 20 years till you can take your pension.

ColtFarmer April 25th, 2008 10:35

best of luck lerch! have fun blowin shit up!:D

Kaelythir April 25th, 2008 13:22

I remember my first day of BMQ in St.Jean... everyone on the bus to the MEGA was all excited and we were all chatting it up and whatever... the second the facility came into view we all went dead silent as we collectively thought the same thought "What the hell did I just do?"

Having said that though, its SO MUCH FREAKIN FUN! For some, the adjustment period is longer than others but I assure you any weird feelings of adjusting to the BMQ lifestyle will be gone in 2 weeks tops.

Youll absolutely love it though... and when youre done youll have some of the greatest friends youve ever had.

Couple tips I have: teamwork (do EVERYTHING with your fireteam partner), communication (pass down all info, no matter how 'trivial'), follow orders (thats pretty self explanitory, really), and above all else, have fun.

But yeah as I said before, just have fun and have a sense of humor otherwise youll go insane.

Congrats! Takes a couragous person to take the step you did.

Gunk April 25th, 2008 19:39

Good luck man!

F!reStorm* April 25th, 2008 19:50

Forge youself a strong moral and mindset, think about your goals and don't fall in the 'game' they'll play on you bud! Cheers!

Andres April 25th, 2008 19:54

Good luck with the real deal, Lerch!

Army-Kill April 25th, 2008 19:58

Zombiefruit April 25th, 2008 20:05

Good luck and come back safely!

Shrike April 25th, 2008 21:08

I'll miss your funny contributions on ASC Lerch, play safe and do well.

hotrodthug April 25th, 2008 21:44

Congrats Lerch, I spent a few months in St jean before getting released. Listen to your instructors, treat your fellow recruits like family, and above all else take care of your feet (if you have high arches get arch supports, vice versa for flat feet)

P.S. good luck and dont take it too seriously, its all part of a process

LeGROS April 25th, 2008 21:49

Good luck man!

5.56 April 25th, 2008 21:59

Sturmur April 26th, 2008 09:37

LOL.

- "Gas Gas Gas?"
- "Did you smell the gas or did you just assume it's there because i'm burning the pellets?"
- "I assumed, Seargent?"
- "Take off your masks, all of you."
- *wheeze* "Gas Gas Gas!" *cough*

Remember, it's all a game and all you can do is play it. Cheers and good luck at the MEGA, and make sure to enjoy St Catherine Street after indoc!

Army-Kill April 27th, 2008 17:59
