My WE M1911A1 Tactical (Caspian)

I just got this baby today. Haven't fired it yet, but cosmetically speaking...she is the love of my life. If I had a girlfriend, I would have traded her for this pistol. For airsoft...this is pretty much my dream pistol. All other pistols i've had/have haven't satisfied me like this one. I will most likely be spending all my time upgrading this one and finding small little cosmetic pieces to beef it up a bit. So far, I have a Hogue rubber wrap around grip on the way. I was hoping it would get here before the gun, but such is life. The grip on the gun now is pretty cool IMO. Here she is...

thats a beaut. i have to admit the "caspian" logo is an eyesore. is there any way to get rid of it? cuz if there is, im gonna have to pick up one of these for myself

i almost bought the same one but got a different GBB instead but now looking at it and from what you said i think i bought the wrong one :(

My advice is to switch the stock WE mag valves for stock TM ones (and not just because I've got some for sale).

Listen to saint. My friend had this gun as his last pistol, ended up loctiting the stock valves.

If I knew how to do it without damaging the finish (which i'll prolly figure out soon enough) I am going to. Or I might decide later on down the road to replace the slide with similar characteristics i.e the forward slide groves. That's one of the main things I love on 1911's.

Yeah, I want to replace the plastic loading pieces too, but don't know how to install metal ones...plus, my bank account is empuhteee. :( Are TM mag accessories compatible with WE mags? Obviously the valves are because you recommended it, but are the plastic loading pieces that house the BB's replaceable with other companies? I've heard people say that they wear down after a while.

Non Credo April 3rd, 2008 01:08

nono, the valve at the back of the magazine, brass ring with silver bump in the center. Top of the mag, on the back side if youre loading it into the pistol. That valve.

Lol, yeah. I realized I was thinking about something else after I posted. My bad, lol. I had to edit my other post.

When I took the gun apart to see how it field strips, I find something i'd like to change. The spring assembly. I had a KJW Para P14 a few years ago, and it's spring assembly was solid. It had the spring guide rod. I was wondering if it is possible to install such a spring system in this gun? I'm looking on eHobby right now for something that might give me an idea if it's possible, but i'm fawkin lost, lmao.

Bah...low and behold, i'm an idiot.

Would this be compatible with it?

The WE Tactical regular version is the same pistol without the logo.

The Saint April 3rd, 2008 20:55

You can't replace the bushing or spring guide in a WE1911 with anything made for TM1911 or WA1911. WE1911 is a semi-original design and doesn't share the necessary dimensions with products from other companies.

I have seen and heard of WE1911 with a full length spring guide and appropriate bushing, but I don't know how you'd be able to get them separately. If you contact enough US airsoft stores that carried the WE1911 with the full length guide in question, you might find one that has the relevant WE sitting around for parts, after someone returned it because of factory defect. Spring guide and bushing are perfectly legal to import.

By the plastic feeding things, I assume you mean the feed lips on the top of the mag that holds the BBs in. I had 4 WE1911 mags at one time, and I didn't find them to be problematic at all. I didn't baby them either, I gamed that pistol hard. My advice is to leave them alone. If you want to replace anything, the order should go something like:
1. Mag valve
2. Tightbore
3. Loading nozzle

Optional: Recoil spring (150% at the most; makes slide rattle less)

The WE1911 will take TM1911 parts for all of the above.

KNIVEZS April 3rd, 2008 21:06

the gun looks lovely, i like the caspian logo

This makes a huge difference in making the gun just FEEL more badass. I would recommend this ASAP.

NovaKaynE April 3rd, 2008 22:53

Yeah, as soon as I get all my big purchases out of the way, i'll be upgrading small bits and pieces here and there. I'm replacing both springs in my 1911 and M9. The stock springs just feel weak, IMO.

Thanks for the comments guys. As soon as my Hogue grips get here, i'll be posting new pictures. Anyone else here have Hogue's on theirs?

Oh...where the hell can I find a replica safariland? The one I have for my M9 only cost me 24 USD plus like 10 USD for shipping. I've been eying eBay for the last few weeks and can't find one. I don't really want to spend 100+ dollars on it, but as a last resort, I may end up having to do that.

The Saint April 3rd, 2008 23:01

Try Huang, I've asked him about them in the past. He said he can get them, but they're not as good as his repro SERPAs.

NovaKaynE April 3rd, 2008 23:22

Thanks for the tip man.

Rubber Hogues may be a bit easier, but I foundthat WE spaces their screws 0.1cm too close together compared to TM and real steel. I'm getting a set of grips made by vzgrips.com and I will have to file them down myself because the CNC machine is set to that measurement.

NovaKaynE April 12th, 2008 02:58

As promised. The Hogue's:
