G&G M14 VS TM M14

Hey there.

About less than a year ago I purchased my first airsoft gun (TM AK47) and was very impressed with it (always had been shooting CO2 pellet/BB guns so I wanted to see how airsoft was).

Latetly I've been browsing the web for the M14. It looks beautiful. As I was Googling reviews for it, I stumbled upon a G&G version of it. I tried to find good comparison pages but couldn't find any. On most sites I did notice how the G&G version was priced higher.

What are the major differences? Any recommendations for which one's the one to buy?

I've been in and out of the whole airgun world. I stopped for the longest time but then I picked up my AK a few days ago and though "daaaaamnn... feel nice" lol - which had gotten me all browsing the net for airsoft guns. So if the differences are minor, I'll have to go with the cheaper one because I'm not too technical when it comes to upgrades and stuff like that.

Thanks!

I have an upgraded TM M14 (385fps with a .25g BB), I can hit a man sized target at 225 feet. When it was stock, it could hit a man sized target at 150 feet. A stock TM M14 will shoot tens of thousands of rounds without any problems.

I've never owned a G&G AEG, but from the people I've played with and seeing them on the field, I'd say to avoid them, especially their M14.

IMHO, the Marui M14 is the best one.

Good luck

Heard the G&G fire selector is prone to break easily, and only hi caps are available for them. Cannot use TM or CA mags either.

The CA is based off of the G&G so yes you can use CA mags. The CA and G&G both have trigger group issues as well, fixable though. If you are buying new go for TM but if you find a decent deal on a CA with some mags (if you can live with hicaps for now) then do it.

Thanks guys.

Yeah somewhere I read that G&G is good with the externals but do not take good care of their internals (with any gun).

In having experience owning a G&G M14.. And now I have a TM M14.. I say buy the TM M14 to save you alot of problems in the future.

what did you upgrade your m14 with to make it shoot like that?

Goodl2ussian February 23rd, 2008 18:28

get TM. Easier to find stuff for it especially mags and its really nice =)

Gussler February 23rd, 2008 18:48

It is very tempting. I'll just wait and see what why wallet says.

But thanks for the info!

Goodl2ussian February 23rd, 2008 18:54

make sure you can use a long gun like that first too. I remember i couldnt move around with my M14 at first when prone, lack of experience didnt help that but just sayin.

Systema M120S spring
Systema metal bushings
Systema shims
Prometheus 6.03 x 500 mm barrel
Homemade 9/16" x 5/16" 12g piston weight

Leapers Tactedge 4x40 red/green illuminated reticle scope
Every thing else is stock TM

It's muzzle velocity is 385fps with a .25g BB and 420fps with a .20g BB.

It rate of fire is 14bps with an 8.4v, 3300mah large battery and 17bps with a 9.6v, 2000mah 4/5 sub c battery.

Get the TM.

The G&G one and the CA one are garbage.

Donster February 23rd, 2008 19:19

with a TM, just put in a new airseal nozzel, MS110 spring and a TB inner barrel and you are rocking with high FPS and accuracy

TrueTGN February 23rd, 2008 19:51

I wouldn't go as far as to say the G&G and CA are garbage.. but they definitely have their own set of problems that might need to be tended to.

I have seen two G&G M14's and both have had major problems, also very hard to find parts for certain things. TM is easier to find parts for, easier to work on, and in my opinion FAR superior in all aspects.

I installed metal bushings, Prom Ms110, Prom airseal nozzle, everything else stock and found that I was shooting 405-415fps. Don't even have a tightbore in it!

Good thing the M14 can actually have an 8.4V 3300mAh placed inside. I have two of those things - had to cut out some plastic internals out of the AK's stock to fit one in.

Sorry to thread jack, but speaking of the G&G M14's, does anyone know what internals are compatible between the G&G's and TM's? like can the G&G use tappets and gears designed for the TM M14?

jimfsch February 24th, 2008 14:07

Marui M14 is the best one. I have both of them. G&G M14 not like the Marui one, The trigger is not inside the gearbox and I have problem with the trigger section all the time.

Not that I know much about upgrading but I keep hearing that it's very hard to find parts for the G&G version... so I'm just assuming that TM parts are not compatible otherwise I would've read about that in the reviews (which all have a section about upgrading but never mentions swapping parts from other brands).

I could be completely wrong, though lol
