Slide help.

I need an M1911 to complete my MGS kit. Thought about a USP AEP, but the fixed slide and wrong light really put me off. Anyway, since I don't plan on using the sidearm much, I was going to go with the TM Springer. An M1911 goes well with the shotgun, I think. I just wanted to know if anyone's ever tried putting a different slide on the springer. Or is anyone can identify this slide: http://img.gkblogger.com/blog/imgdb/.../041/235_2.JPG

EDIT: Now changed into a general MGS thread.

Curious, what is MGS?

The Saint January 22nd, 2008 21:35

Metal Gear Solid.

ProbeJax January 22nd, 2008 21:36

Metal Gear Solid. Specifically, the M1911 I'm now trying to create is the one from MGS3. Also been trying to construct a croc hat out of raw material. Not going so well.

ProbeJax January 22nd, 2008 21:36

Hahaha, Saint. Everytime I say anything about an m1911 or variant, you show up.

Styrak January 22nd, 2008 21:59

You can't change the slide on a springer, I'm pretty sure.

ProbeJax January 22nd, 2008 22:45

I was wondering if you could. I suppose I could always go Portable Ops M1911...either way, the slide would cost more then the gun itself, I think.

Donster January 22nd, 2008 22:52

just get a TM and use it. you never know when you will need your sidearm. dont rely on a springer, get a GBB TM. Its a great pistol, ive seen it shoot farther then some AEGs. you can get a full metal upgrade kit for it (slide and lower receiver)

ProbeJax January 22nd, 2008 23:10

's the thing, I already have two seperate M9s. One's the Maurshin blank firing prop gun, the other's a GBB. I've already got the GBB ready as my other MGS2 sidearm (Just need a silencer). I don't really feel the need for another GBB. Though I guess it's also an option...does anyone know about the slide changing for sure, or the name of that slide on the MGS3 second part M1911?

the trigger, slide cuts, and hammer look similar to the kimber ICQB

http://www.military.com/soldiertech/...r1911,,00.html

and the beavertail looks similar to stock kimber

kalnaren January 23rd, 2008 07:54

Ah, MGS3, ok. I was going to say I never remebered seeing a 1911 in MGS lol.

ProbeJax January 24th, 2008 00:12

Well, I'm pretty sure no company makes that kind of Kimber, so I'm going to have to buy and custom build.

RacingManiac January 24th, 2008 00:30

TM 1911 with the Nova kit and source that grip from eBay and you'll get pretty close, and pretty expensive...

btw, the first pic you post is a commander-type 1911, with 4.5 inch(or 4.3) barrel and shorter slide than a regular 1911...

Pretty sure it has a shorter frame too.

ProbeJax January 24th, 2008 00:47

The "first" M1911 Snake is dropped off with is just a plain old M1911, right?

ProbeJax January 28th, 2008 18:07

Update: Sent money to a buddy with an m1911. On it's way. Can a mod please move this to the video game themed airsoft section? Going to discuss other gear other then slides in a minute here.

Took pics of MGS2, and was wondering if anyone could indentify any of this stuff. I know there's a drop pouch on the left side of the belt, and a drop leg on the right side. Trying specifcally to find out what the vest set up and radio rig is.

I dont know if this is necro-posting, but whatever...

I'm going to build the 1911 that EVA gave Snake. The 1911 that you start off(the one that the Boss strips and throws away), as I recall it was a standard 1911 with a threaded barrel. The customized one looks very closely to a Kimber Eclipse II, but is, in fact, very different.

The MGS3 Custom 1911 is based on a standard issue 1911, with vertical serrations on the slide and the slide's sides have been polished. It has 3 dot sights, tho I dont remember if they are night sights or not. It has a black barrel with threaded tip for silencers. On the frame; the base of the trigger guard was filed down, there is a silver ring hammer and a silver 3-hole trigger. The slide release and the thumb safety are extended, and as I recall, silver. The thumb safety IS NOT ambi. The grip safety is standard issue. So the gun has a dark grey frame with a slide that has silver sides and dark grey top.
