dboys full metal m4a1 review

5 Attachment(s)
intro
i ordered this gun from Kastway airsoft for about 170 bucks shipped.
all i can say is that that company is the bomb!!! it got here on x-mas:xmas: so
i was really happy!! it came in a cardboard case with the picture of the gun on the front.

first impressions
the first thing i noticed was that this thing was freekin heavy:)
this thing is, as it states, full metal!! metal parts are... pretty much everything, metal 1 peice barrel, metal upper and lower reciever, metal trigger and trigger guard, metal mag, metal stock tube, metal gears, metal... everything!!!

when i loaded up the 300 round mag and the 200 round vietnam style mags and charged the batteryi went immediatly outside and started shooting it on semi auto and then auto. i adjusted the hop up and it was unbelievabley powerful and accurate at easily 50 yrds away.

a week later i decided to start customizing it so i went to www.depot53.com
and bought rails, vietnam style mags, scopes, red dots, rings, etc.

hop up

the hop up is really fun. almost all m4's have it. it is found under the dust cover which is opened by pulling back on the charging handel.

battery
the battery is a 8.4 volt 1100 mah battery. it is stored in the forehandle and accessed by pulling back the o ring. the battery compartment is a bitch to get open:rrr:

the stock
the stock is made of nylon but the stock tube is metal. it is a 5 posission collapsable stock. very nice.

pros
  • full metal
  • shoots amazing
  • good rof
  • very realistic
  • very sturdy
  • full metal
  • no plastic
  • full metal
  • powerful
  • accurate
  • fun to hold
cons
  • battery compartment is a bitch to get open
  • the mag doesnt fit that well
  • stocks just a little wobbly
  • other than that... none

reccomended upgrades
  • deep fire barrel
  • new mag
  • new foregrip/forehandel
  • new o- ring
  • rails
conclusion

GET THIS GUN

B_s1de January 13th, 2008 13:47

Good little overview of the gun. All it would need now is a CANADIAN price and availability.

Lost any and all credibility with me right there.

I can't take anyone who sticks that much shit on a gun seriously.

He's in the US, so doesn't affect our situation here. Still, unless he lives our in the country or has a backyard that isn't visible from neighbours, then it's a bad idea.

Tri-rails would be fun, where you could mount many more of them.

Viperfish January 14th, 2008 16:59

Lay off him guys he is just trying to share his stuff with us

good stuff dude, its good to see some feedback on the Boyi FMU. they have sparked my interest for a while.

is the metal soft and prone to chipping, or did they fix it with the new FMUs?

as for your optics instead of going with a rds and a scope, your prolly better off going with something like a ACOG or a AIMPOINT with a 3X multiplier and a quick detach.

I wouldn't mind the other guys, allot of ppl round here don't care for the lower end guns and Boyi has kinda been an iffy name when it came to the china guns, but if what your saying can be said for all there other guns, then things may just be looking up for chinasoft.

thank you for being nice to me unlike everyone else... any ways, the dboys full metal m4a1 i have is made of, from what i can tell, very strong metal.
im not big on spending 300+ on an airsoft gun because #1 i dont know any airsmiths.#2 i cant be too sure about how long it will last and number 3 i just dont have the money to have it upgraded or fixed if it breaks.
thanks again, Grady

grady January 15th, 2008 11:24

also where can i find a inexpensive acog?
under 60$$

Greylocks January 15th, 2008 14:34

Grady, has it occured to you yet that this is a CANADIAN forum and our prices and laws are NOT the same as yours?

If you want resources, use Google and check US sites. Dont ask people from ANOTHER COUNTRY to check US resources for you. That's just... sad.

grady January 27th, 2008 10:05

sorry

tryggva February 2nd, 2008 07:14

Wow, I just signed onto this site, as I am interested in seeing how the airsoft community internationally plays, and if you people are the indicator then already Canada fails. Only 1 person was nice to a another, younger player who was just sharing his gun with everyone of which he was very proud. Instead of offering helpful advice, or approaching his choice of external upgrades with a "If it makes you happy, go for it" attitude, all you did was blast him and a few took potshots at his country of origin. If anything was sad on this thread, it was your treatment of another fellow human being and player of this game. Way to go.

all that stuff on his gun makes it look like a BOYS rifle from TM or w.e they are called. and as for his netiquette, well lets just say he sounds like a 6th grader who just learned all the lingo for his MSN messaging... sorry dude, but fail. the main thing is, you're review is simply saying what was on the box, i.e. full metal, hop -up located here etc etc. you didn't put in any accuracy tests, nth.

The last thing we need are kids from around the world who just got their first Airsoft gun to come here and write useless reviews that consist mainly of praises for their new toy.

"the hop up is really fun"

Donster February 2nd, 2008 13:38

of course it's fun, not all M4 have it :D

Troll is trolling.

Again, nice work indeed, Grady. Is this your first review? If it is, then next time I suggest you to add power and accuracy test to the review as well. Overall your piece is a good one.
I have a D-boys M4A1 Full Metal as well. It shoots decently, but I have recently switched for a full Guarder hop-up unit to make it a bit more accurate. I got a question to ask you, Graddy: Does the pistons, cylinders and gears from Classic Army, G&P, and Guarder can fit into the gearbox of the D-boys M4A1 Full Metal?
I am asking this question because I am trying to upgrade this gun but is stuck right here. If you can awnser my question, thankyou.

Jesus christ, the thread is nine months old! Check the dates on useless threads before you post useless replies. Fucking christ. I highly doubt that kid is still around.

the best is that you bumped a crappy review thread almost 2 years old just to say something that has already been said by kalnaren 2 years ago.
