Trouble with new Kraken

Hi there I have been a long time lurker on this board and have finally took the plunge and bought my first airsoft.
Anyhow I took the rifle from the package plugged in the charger and after one hour I test fired approximatley 20-30 shots.
I then placed the battery back on charge for another hour and 15 minutes to complete the charge, now to my dismay the rifle makes a soft ''clunk'' and nothing else happens.
I checked the fuse and that is fine, did I over charge the battery (8.4V 4/5sc 1200mAh P)?
What should I do now any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.
I will probably get chided for buying a Kraken but I read many positive reviews about this AEG.

Get your self a better charger like a TLP or something like that. And a better battery, a 2000mha or a 2400mha 8.4v battery.

Try not to cheap out on it, get something good.

Is the battery 'fried'' then?

It mite not of bin charged right. Or it was a crap battery from the get go. You will be happyer with a higher mha battery anyway.

Should I try recharging?

zone 69 December 22nd, 2007 20:15

Try dischargeing it,, then give it a full charge,,And I think a wall charger takes 6-12 hours to charge the battery fully,, I dont really know i use a TLP charger.

mike in van December 22nd, 2007 20:18

I appreciate your help, how do I discharge?

zone 69 December 22nd, 2007 20:27

You can buy a discharger or you can make one. anything that will run the battery until its toally dead. like a computer cooling fan or lights or something like that. O taking the time to fill out your profile helps as well.

I hope you injoyed the spoon feeding.lol joke

Corbin December 22nd, 2007 20:39

You didnt charge it long enough, you should charge it for 12 hours the first time you charge it, and thats the sound it makes when youre battery is dead, just charge it and see if it works, if not, then youre battery is ruined and you get to go buy a good one.

Yeah I realize I'm kind of spoon feeding but the truth is I am just very disapointed with this purchase.
I waited for 4 weeks fir it to come and it just showed up today.
So help and insight is much appreciated.

Beazer December 22nd, 2007 20:43

4 weeks, man are you ever lucky.

Corbin December 22nd, 2007 20:49

4 weeks isnt really lucky, i ordered mine from BuyAirsoft.ca and i got it in 9 days, around 1-2 weeks is their wait time usually.

take a moment and read your instruction booklet that came with your kraken. Your battery is fine when charged correctly. It recommends you charge the battery for 12 hours for the first charge, and generally 11 hours with the small charger that is supplied. If you purchase a charger (BBBastard hint hint) then you will be good to go in about 1.5 hours of charging.

Greylocks December 22nd, 2007 21:03

I suggest you look in the Information section or search for the threads about care and feeding of batteries.

The basics; get a voltmeter, or get a really good charger. There are many brands but the better ones are computerized and do everything for you. Even recondition batteries and discharge them properly.

As you just noticed, nothing sucks more than a not-working gun because all you have is a crappy charger. So read up on the subject or go see what local players use.

Drache December 22nd, 2007 23:09

The batteries that come with Krakens are total crap (I was a Kraken owner). I suggest picking up a new battery and try that, then if you still have the same problem, let us know.

It has been on charge for for 7 hours still it will not work, is this normal?

Its normal for an Airsofter to discard a stock brick wall charger & battery if they happen to get them with the gun. Konwing that they can use them but they don,t want to use them. Im thinking your best bet is to go to your locoal RC store to find a charger & battery. just take your crap battery with you to show the store keeper.

Unless you wish to order them from some where.

Here,s what i use::http://cgi.ebay.com/TLP-TL15-Fuzzy-L...QQcmdZViewItem

not totally dead you need to leave a little charge in there or you might reverse the polarity

is 7 hours 12 hours? do what your instructions tell you and then if you still have a problem, buy a new battery and a real charger. I'm done helping.

I had a similar experience with a Palco Firepower F4 (M4A1). I fully charged the battery, got about 10 shots out of it. I heard a clunking sound in the mechbox, and that was it. It never fired again. I returned it and 'upgraded' to a Classic Army M15A4 instead - what I SHOULD have gotten in the first place.
