Buying used from Illusion, he has another one thats NIB as well for $149...

Shirley December 6th, 2007 21:03

I'm sorry, I drooled all over this thread.

Daiviet December 7th, 2007 08:43

the bushing kit looks sweet! question about it, does it actually fit snugly just by friction?

attack-beaver December 7th, 2007 14:34

that looks like one well used hi-capa.

friction and tolerance of parts, but once everything is installed(guide rod bushing) then it cannot come loose...

the paint fading on the metal frame was like that when i got the gun 2nd hand....which is one of the reason why I want to go with an aftermarket frame....

Scooby Steve December 7th, 2007 18:31

Very nice. I like how you thought to use a straight outer barrel. i think the wear on the frame gives it character. I got some Nine Ball rubber mag bumpers from ILLusion and will try some metal ones when I get more mags.

RacingManiac December 7th, 2007 20:13

well I went to pickup the frame and the black hammer today, and the installation took less than 20 min, the shade of black of the frame is different from what I imagined, but I think it looks ok...the mostly blacked out exterior kinda gives the polished stainless outer barrel that look of staring at some beast's teeth.....lol

You can! All you gotta do is go through my sales thread... pwuahahaa....

Andrew, great looking piece. Glad to see it all went together without trouble.

Goodl2ussian December 8th, 2007 17:58

sick. i believe this is the first Hicapa ive fallen in love with, the light looks amazing on it

RacingManiac December 8th, 2007 20:13

Illu's sales thread is like the best place to look for these stuff especially if you don't wanna wait...:D

Thanks for the comments....

Rumpel Felt December 8th, 2007 20:20

Is the lower frame on that metal out of the box?

I've seen some Shooters Design ones that were over $200US which is pretty outragious for such a small piece....

RacingManiac December 8th, 2007 20:49

The TM Hi-Capa 5.1 comes with pot metal lower frame, with screw on attachment rail. So it is decent to start with and a lot easier to get to a full metal state than a 1911 based gun. But the grip is plastic and unlike the 1911you can't get those nice wood/carbon/what have you grip for it. I chose to replace that frame because I like the integrated look of the build in rail, while as I've said the frame from my base gun were pretty used in its look.

ILLusion December 10th, 2007 12:04

I'd highly recommend the integrated rail frames if you're using your rail to mount a laser or M6 style laser aiming module. The stock rail has a tendancy to move around a bit, which affects aiming accuracy, whereas the fixed rail of the integrated rail frame always holds true.

That's the reason why I had them on all four of my Hi-Capas...

Question, them intergrated rails, will they permit strike plates like the SAS silencer kit or the Face masher strike kits to bolt on to them?

No, they will not.

All of those kits require the bolt-in holes on the bottom of the stock Marui frame.

This means that the kits also will not work on WE guns due to their integrated rails. (I've been asked this many times.)

Dangit, looks like I'm stuck with the screw in rails. Oh well, it was only for looks anyway as I've found I don't much like using the lazers, tac lights tend to be more useful on pistol than anything else.

RacingManiac December 10th, 2007 18:44

One of the thing I found with the SAS kit with the stock frame is that, because I am using the Socom supressor, if the mount is just a bit misaligned, the tip looks really out....it never really look true and the phillips screws just don't seem to be tight enough for the attachment...which is why I decided just to ditch the SAS kit and go with some sort of threaded barrel setup and integrated rail frame...

T_A_N_K December 11th, 2007 19:57

Very nice. I was thinking to do the same. I have a second hicapa with pretty much the same specs and a M6 to go with it. I was thinking of putting the stubby silencer on mine though.

I think if you don't mind the slight fitment issue with the SD Hi-Capa chamber and the SD 1911 barrel this is a decent way to do it(and apparently some from Arnies don't have the fitment problem, maybe an isolated case with my parts?), alternatively I've seen some WE 5.1 threaded barrel around the net somewhere, don't know about their compatiblity to TM or their quality though...

T_A_N_K December 11th, 2007 20:15

I don't know about WE Ive heard horror stories on their 5.1 and was told to stay away. Is yours an actual M6 or a knock off? Hopefully I can get that SAS kit and silencer off that guy and put it on mine. Ill slap on the M6 and take a pic. I was wondering thought, how hard it would be to get an aftermarket tight bore and chop it down custom to make an extended hicapa barrel. Theres probably more too it though

RacingManiac December 11th, 2007 20:26

there are tight bore barrels for the Hi-Capa at standard length or extended length(I have one from a PDI 7" Comp kit), though cutting a long one to your desired length shouldn't be that hard(I'd do it with a lathe though)...

My M3 light is a G&P knockoff, not the nicest I've seen....the bulb burnt out in like 3 weeks....and the plastic is pretty shitty looking. the X200 clone Huang is selling looks interesting...

I also previously have a SAS kit(still does, but its not in good shape as it has a screw missing and some wear)

This is what it looked like

http://www.supercars.net/pitlane/pics/3288629b.jpg

You can also attach a silencer to a long inner barrel via something like the PDI kit with their set screw adapter....though I personally don't like the idea of holding any weight with the inner barrel....

As seen here, note that the SAS kit and the SD barrel that I have are both 14mm+ thread while the PDI attachment is 14mm -, as such my Marui pro silencer is useless on my current setup(14-):

http://www.supercars.net/pitlane/pic...3/3298978d.jpg

T_A_N_K December 11th, 2007 20:33

Yeah I was thinking of getting that one too but i decided to get a real one. I believe its not compatible with surefire replacement bulbs.
Its only about 30$ more too: https://dstactical.com/product_info.php?products_id=423

I just wanted something where I could get replacement parts easily. Price includes shipping and with 7% tax it was $132.49

Can you use the stock screws for the 5.1 rail to substitute the one missing from the SAS kit?

So then that marui silencer won't work on the SAS kit correct?

Hah I have a USP Compact to I just misplaced the barrel and hopup somewhere

RacingManiac December 11th, 2007 21:23

The screw I have missing is actually a screw that attaches the "silencer block" to the rail thing....it is attached via 3 screws: 2 skinny long socket head cap screw(some really small metric size) from the front(looking down the barrel) and one on the bottom(M3 x 1 or something). The one I have missing one of the skinny one. And I can not find a replacement from even stores like Brafastco. The attachment for the rail to the frame is via the same screw as the Hi-Capa rail. Though when I got my Hi-Capa my rail was not threaded(is it like that new I don't know) and I just found the same screw thread that the SAS kit uses and tapped it as such. Those screws are in shitty shape as I am not very good with phillips head and they are pretty worn. lol...

And no, the Marui silencer will not work with the SAS kit...though I'd imagine you can probably make/find a fitting that is male 14+ to male 14 -.....as the SAS kit's female end(one that screws into the block) is 14+ as well....

Shinjin_MC December 12th, 2007 02:31

you can get the real M3 bulbs as well as higher voltage batteries for the G&P M3 unit

they up the lumens by about 20 or 30 I think

I bought a few bulbs off ebay when I burnt mine out

T_A_N_K December 19th, 2007 15:28

KEVORKIAN December 19th, 2007 18:05

What kind of slide is that?

BBS December 19th, 2007 22:06

nice gun especially the silencer! "Stay back 100m or you will be shot" which is ironic in an airsoft sense.

how do you like the ITI M3?

T_A_N_K December 20th, 2007 00:23

The slide is the Shooters Design OPS-M.R.P CAL.45 Slide (Stock slide but metal). Only thing with the silencer is that when tightened the sayings are on the top and bottom as opposed to side to side. The ITI M3 is awesome, more powerfull than my Surfire 6P. I bought it for 130 shipped or so new from dstactical.

Sequential December 21st, 2007 11:33

RacingManiac December 29th, 2007 13:14

This is a photo gallery I made a while back to detail how the steel bushing system works as modeled on one of my Hi-Capas.

http://www.pbase.com/illusive_airsoft/sdbushing

That Hi-Capa also uses the Freedom Art mid-frame, but it's the full-length version, which matches up with the end of the slide - looks better in my opinion.

RacingManiac January 11th, 2008 14:54

Looks better if you got the Infinity slide with no cut out for the dustcover...

ILLusion January 11th, 2008 21:41

True, the slide has to match.

Doesn't look so great when the slide has the scalloped cut:

http://www.pbase.com/illusive_airsof...944/medium.jpg

(picture it without the compensator at the end)

Daiviet January 11th, 2008 22:12

I honestly like the compensators, look really cool. Hopefully when i start my hi capa project, i can get the 7inch frame with the 2 inch comp.

RacingManiac January 12th, 2008 11:45

Thats one of the reason why I moved away from the SAS kit as well, I think with non-matching slide it looks kinda incomplete...

RacingManiac January 17th, 2008 22:03

Updated now with a SD "Colt .45 Auto" chamber, which allows my threaded straight barrel to screw on all the way.....(which I think this is the best way for a silencer installation for Hi-Capa, costly though to get all the seperate SD parts...)

Daiviet January 17th, 2008 22:25

still beautiful as ever. have you thought about getting a silver mag catch and safety to stand out on the gun?

RacingManiac January 17th, 2008 22:51

I am actually trying to keep the silver part at a minimum, the stock hammer is on now because the Nine-Ball one has worn out(teeth are rounded, it was a used piece afterall), and I am waiting for a KM Stainless black oval hammer to get here. The silver bushing, barrel and trigger I think gives that a shiny teeth in the dark feel....lol

My 1911 thats on the way though will get silver controls, and possibly a 2 tone slide....

RacingManiac January 23rd, 2008 22:24

Minor update again to my Hi-Capa....mostly internal...
My original black hammer was wornout, so in my last batch of pic I had stock hammer on, now my new KM oval-type hammer is in(after some fitting), and other stuff were added as well. PDI/X-fire stainless 2 piece sear to go with the stainless KM hammer, and a stainless hammer strut....

The target in the pic is from 20 ft over 16 shots....on stock barrel and stock air seal chamber(next inline update), the gun is capable of better than I am capable of delivering it lol....

Griffin January 24th, 2008 03:42

Yes a Tanio Tactical grip and twist inner barrel would really go nice with your Hi-Capa

RacingManiac January 24th, 2008 17:09

it sooo pretty

RacingManiac February 12th, 2008 20:08

Went back to the FA frame, the other setup with my upgraded sear and hammer has some issue with sticking trigger....

Sanded the stainless barrel bushing(got rid of the machined mark), then hit that as well as the outer barrel/chamber with metal polish....

I have also ordered a TK grip from DenTrin, just waiting for Chinese New Year thing to go by.....if you see these pic carefully you'll see the stock grip have developed a crack near the screw....

Motaal February 12th, 2008 20:15

Nice dude, EEvery week u change the frame lol

RacingManiac February 12th, 2008 20:35

can't decide what looks better....especially with my 1911 not showing up yet....

Griffin February 12th, 2008 20:53

Your going to love the TK grip feels just right in your hands.

Daiviet February 12th, 2008 21:08

thats beautiful with the metal polish. looks like you're starting to get a bit of wear n tear on the slide and frame.

RacingManiac February 21st, 2008 17:04

Now with TK Tactical Grip.....

http://www.supercars.net/pitlane/pic...3/3306623b.jpg
http://www.supercars.net/pitlane/pic...3/3306623c.jpg
http://www.supercars.net/pitlane/pic...3/3306623d.jpg

The grip itself feels very good, much tighter feeling compared to the widebody, unweldiness of the stock Hi-Capa grip, but I don't like the injection molding parting line and a small gap between the grip safety and the grip itself on the ejection port side of the gun....

need to get some 4.3 mags....

hattrick February 21st, 2008 17:32

The 4.3 mags would be so much nicer, that was always my turnoff from the 5.1

Wilson February 21st, 2008 17:56

For what make of sidearm do you have to buy holsters for to make it fit?

Will it fit in 1911-style holsters? I'm falling in love with the upgrade potential of these hi-cappa GBB's but worried that it won't fit in a Safariland 6004 SLS, possibly because of the trigger guard design (6004-53-122 for stock 1911A1-style sidearms or 6004-533-122 for 1911A1's with a light).

RacingManiac February 21st, 2008 20:50

I am using a universal dropleg, just the cheap generic type. But I've heard certain type of Safariland fits the Hi-Capa frame. Just to note though that this will not fit most generic type of 1911A1 holster, as the frame is wider and the different trigger guard shape. The realworld version of Hi-Capa would be a STI 2011 style gun, so maybe look for holster that fit those....

safx February 21st, 2008 21:09

Nice work, thanks for sharing the evolution.

The last pic with the TK grip and railed frame
is the nicest combo in my opinion. Also think
it looks killer without the silencer, so you can
see the gorgeous polished bushing system.

Get a nice polished hammer, and a 4.3 mag
with a flat polished base plate :)

RacingManiac February 22nd, 2008 00:56

yeah I'll be sticking with the rail frame I think, though personally I prefer the black hammer....do want the 4.3 mags though...

Cougar[SWE] March 17th, 2008 17:21

Hi guys, realy sweet guns you all have!

Ive just bought my self 2 HC 5.1, just cause they both where at such a good price on our Swedish board!
One of them will become my "learning how to" and also "spare parts".

Now!
Any good tip on the greates dealer when it comes to HC 5.1 parts? WGC, Red Wolf or any other perhaps?

Except from all the internals I realy need a nice slide and chamber! But the order-stock is not 100% @ WGC or RW! Many slides are out of stock....

Also, Im soo confused when it comes to the holster part.... A Safariland 6305 and for the STI 2011, should it do it?

Any tips?

RacingManiac March 17th, 2008 20:25

When it comes to slide and chamber for Hi-Capa 5.1, http://www.dentrinityshop.com/ have probably the most selection....

I bought my parts mostly from WGC, but some stuff are from Red Wolf, and TK grip I think the only place I know that used to have it in stock was http://www.dentrinityshop.com/ again.

Oh god I wish I could buy the 6inch CNC chassis from dentrinity. Outrageous price.. not to mention the legality of importing one... @.@

Hicapa 6 inch infinity mod.. someday.. someday

Lakonian March 19th, 2008 17:23

AXe Hound April 6th, 2008 22:53

The stock mag release is very "tall", it is quite easy to engage it. It makes for good race-pistol but poor for fielding. Which was the reason why I went with the Nine-Ball low-profile release, which makes it a bit more flush to the grip(about 1-1.5mm shorter), but still enough to release the mag.

I think Illusion have much nicer Hi-Capa than I do....and then there are our US contributor Krame......And ShinjinMC have one with the nicer Kimberslide....

RacingManiac April 9th, 2008 17:57

btw, I found these pic from last year in my PC, I think this is about 2-3 month into my ownership of this Hi-Capa....bought used, at this point it had a PGC Springfield Operator slide(came with the gun, doesn't quite work anymore) and Guarder one piece outer barrel and recoil guide....very little is left untouched from then...

For those who were at the TTAC3 for the 2nd CAPS course you probably saw my 5.1 in this guise....reinstalled the 7" PDI 6.05 barrel and the comp.....after more practice I think magchange on the magwell-less TK grip isn't much of an issue anymore...

So my new Airsoft Surgeon Infinity kit got here(S/N: CL06), I also bought a AS hammer mech kit and a SD Chamber(I have a barrel lying around, and yes I know a hybrid chamber isn't the most appropreate, but it was the only Hi-Capa chamber in stock). Now I just need to get my Hi-Capa from home and I'll be in business......

Something to note, the slide DO accept a TM 1911 style bushing, so you can run a straight barrel with it if you so choose....

RacingManiac September 4th, 2008 18:41

FYI, the hammer mech kit was not necessary, well it is if you want the hammer, but the rest was not useful....the AS frame comes with its own sear and valve knocker, so what I got were extras....

Now, could I put the knocker from a 2011 to a 1911? or are they not the same?

Ronan September 5th, 2008 00:57

RM those are incredibly awesome :D

ILLusion September 5th, 2008 13:11

jealousy...

I wish I could still find Infinity .45 chambers still. I have just one... but it looks like I may be taking all those nice Infinity parts off my SHPD and putting it on to my slide/frame combo when it gets here.

They're not the same.

RacingManiac September 5th, 2008 17:27

It does fit though, I have tried shooting with it though...

What looks really nice now is the Stainless barrel from PDI, which is a Infinity .45 labeled. But that barrel set(chamber and barrel) is I think $160 US if you order from x-fire.org.....a bit much than what I am willing to payfor...

I have swapped the Hybrid chamber into the 1911 since it does have a comp and what the warning about exhaust port are not THAT out of place, I'll be using my Barsto .45 chamber with the bull barrel in the Infinity setup....

I'll start posting pic after the weekend....

Needs new controls now....

Thats my Nova 1911 barrel btw, as the SD one has some strange sticking issue that I have not resolved yet.

the_griffinator September 7th, 2008 20:54

wow. I was unsure about the look of this slide and frame, but now that I see it on a gun, I see how sexy it is. Nice stuff.

Lakonian September 9th, 2008 21:31

Holy fock, that's hot. Moar Pics!

And I landed a 'finger fits' grip with a gun purchase... Let me tell ya.... Everything anyone ever said about it being awesome was true... Friggin' robot finger sex.
