idiots in barrie

so on friday 4 guys and a girl ages 20-21 were arrested because they were playing wargames in the streets

they were carrying airsoft guns, paintball guns , nightsticks and a semi-automatic weapon

discuss

Syn November 1st, 2007 22:34

Idiots got what they deserved. /thread over

mcguyver November 1st, 2007 22:35

Discuss what? More flaming of nameless twits on a forum that has coverd that topic 100 times already.

People are stupid, get caught, bad press, etc., etc., etc..

If you want to discuss anything, discuss lobbying the government to enact legislation to let natural selection weed stupid people out of society.

Coma November 1st, 2007 22:38

I know one of the guys involved fairly well. The semi-automatic weapon was his TM Tactical Master Beretta. I'll be seeing him tomorrow, be sure to slap him around a bit. He is a nice guy, but kinda dumb as a stump. Same can be said of the company he keeps.

I talked to this fellow on the phone just tonight, about an hour ago. Apparently he is associated with a 'team' here in Barrie that no one has heard of and that does not play at any ASC-sanctioned games, but it supposedly sponsored by 007. The 'team captain', who I've also spoken to over the phone, said hes been into airsoft for about 4 years now. After tomorrow I'll post any other information I can get.

Rest assured as most know this does not reflect the Barrie airsoft scene. Team Blackbear is not the team involved, they'd probably flip if I ever let slip the guy's name and address....which I won't, Jim.

Lakonian November 1st, 2007 23:16

I'm 100% sure Ken is NOT affiliated with these idiots.

Coma November 2nd, 2007 00:01

Yeah, I was a bit skeptical as well.

There is no way a reputable airsoft vendor, of which there are very precious few would even sell to people they know are doing these type of things.

Its these type of people that are the reason the Darwin Awards were created if the first place. I cant believe they were not shot (maybe they should have atleast been wounded, once into the forarm won't kill you) and though this may be rude or uncalled for but in my humble opinion I personally think that they should be ,fined and/or jailed or maybe they should just start bringing back flogging, that should reduce the collective stupidity of some people atleast.

So thats my 2c. Any how take it or leave it. I already said it was an opinion so please dont bother flaming it.

Good day all.

Fined is better than jailed. I'd prefer my hard earned tax money not go to housing these idiots but rather fine them or their parents and take all their equipment too.

Ummmm no jailed is better. Jailed you will loose your job, probably your house and alot of things not to mention a criminal record therefor loosing ALOT of jobs out right.

As far as tax money paying for jails I understand that part personally I dont like the state the system is in but hey. Atleast jailed they get alot more issues when they get out and while there are in there there is always a chance that they will be beaten regularly for being idiots, one can hope any how.

Freak November 2nd, 2007 02:05

In no way are these IDIOTS part of our team

In no way are these IDIOTS part of our team. These idiots deserve what ever is givin to them.
This is just another black mark against a sport that has problems of its own. Doesnt need anymore Dumb Asses making it harder for us to play the game we all love.
As Coma said these dumb asses are not part of our team.

Hey, if you are over 18, and commit a crime, expect to deal with the consequences. If you are stupid, cope with it.

If you do things that land you a criminal record (and all that follows), tough shit. Life is not fair.

They made a choice, if it ruins their life... still their choice. I hope they enjoy manual labour in non-security cleared areas and not crossing the Border ever again.

Coma November 2nd, 2007 12:02

Heh, another funny story on this. My grandmother is also here and Barrie, and thought it was ME in the newspaper article!

Anyway, no further updates.....

One thing I never understood about Barrie when I was living there. Why do all the high school kids hang out in fron of the McDonalds on Dunlop St.?

Jayhad November 2nd, 2007 12:28

I say post these dorks name's then we all know who we should and shouldn't be interacting with.
Do we really want the authorities to see that there is no fall out from the airsoft community when an airsoft has a law breaking, major brain fart? i think NO
All of us that are responsible should distance us from these yocals (ya I said yocals) and we can't do that without knowing them. These characters should have no welcome place at our games and they should also be banned on asc.

Last time I was up in barrie (2 years ago) it was pretty fuckin' barren. Maybe it's the "coolest" place to hang, and be boring.. who the fock knows.. :p

Freak November 2nd, 2007 12:46

Barrie is getting cooler

Hey Kos Barrie is getting better now. Just a few dorks out there, as for coma. Well he is ok, just needs help....LOL

Yeah? I used to spend alot of time up in the wasaga area. Used to stay at that trailer park (lol, yeah, I know...) close to Wasaga Paintball. We'd come down to Barrie for those $4.75 movie theatres, once in a while... But at that time it was just about the only cool thing about that place.. hahahah

Mapcinq November 2nd, 2007 13:12

If your of legal drinking age, there are some descent bars. Other than that, there aint much to do.

Thanks Tattoo, means a lot buddy :p Show you just how I appreciate it on the 11th :kill:

Jaroon- Hes someone I know, I like to distance myself from this guy and his 'posse'.

Syphen November 2nd, 2007 13:31

That is sad to hear.. the fact that people are dumb enough around here to play with airsoft guns out in public. I work on Dunlop St right near the highway. It is not surprising though.

I was definitely underage 4 years ago (when I was up there every second weekend). I'll have to go up, and check it out sometime soon.

Speaking of intoxication.. where these turd-tossers under the influence of anything? That'd explain the loss of common sense... ish..

Scooby Steve November 2nd, 2007 13:36

Is there a link to the article?

Possibly. The main reason I noticed was because one day there was a fight between them. Cops showed up and shit. Best place to fight ever in Barrie is McDicks. What an odd City Barrie is..

skalnok November 2nd, 2007 15:30

eh barrie is filled with emos and posers .....

Scooby Steve November 2nd, 2007 18:44

From the Barrie Police website

Occurence Type: WEAPONS SUSPECTS INVESTIGATED
Occurence #: BA07041467
Date: 2007/10/26
Details:
At 1:05pm, citizens in the area of Dunlop Street and Anne Street called 911 to report persons in the area wearing camouflage clothing and carrying guns. Officers including the tactical unit responded and located four 21 year old males and a 20 year old female at Anne Street near Edgehill Drive. All were wearing camouflage and were carrying realistic looking guns. They were investigated after being disarmed and were found to be ‘playing’ a war type game. The guns were all described as soft air pellet guns. They were all cautioned about their behaviour and informed of the peril they could have been in walking around with these weapons. The guns are not illegal to possess and the group were sent on their way hopefully a lot wiser.

At least they called them "soft air" and not airsoft, eventhough most people won't make that distinction.
