Orange Tips

Just wondering how many people remove or repaint the orange tip of thier gun if it comes with it?

Forever_kaos October 10th, 2007 21:05

From what I understand (when I asked this awile ago) everybody does, orange stands out, gives your spot away etc...

Mr. G36! October 10th, 2007 21:07

...aside from the obvious fact that it's really stand out in a woodland setting, why wouldn't you remove/paint the orange tip? I have one gun that has the orange tip. It's a $2 pellet gun that I got a A Buck Or Two, and I left the tip orange just because it looks so ghey.

But that aside, when I got a Crossman (Yeah, you heard me!) M4 way back, I painted it black and, from a distance, you'd probably mistake it for something decent.

The only reason I'd leave the tip orange as it is is if I was in The 'States for a game or something. And even then, it be easier to just get a real gun and have a real shootout, or so it would seem these days.

in canada im not so sure if it'd be illegal to or not.
Nope.

TokyoSeven October 10th, 2007 21:19

I purchased a springer glock with an orange tip. I painted it over black, then painted the slide a hot neon barbie pink. Its now my favorite gun.

HaloSix4 October 10th, 2007 21:21

i heard use nail polish remover and let it sit the the you can wipe the orange off it worked for me

Regan.S October 10th, 2007 21:23

Tokyo do you have any pics of your neon barbie pink glock?

HaloSix4 October 10th, 2007 21:24

no but i did it a while ago on my old gun

TokyoSeven October 10th, 2007 22:04

No pics on this computer since Im at work but I got the idea from a duracoat gun I saw on a website in the states.

Mine sort of looks like this. Of course the color job on this gun is 1000's of times nicer. My pink is a little bit darker and more neon.

dodger_me October 10th, 2007 22:07

Is it true the flower m16VN is also yours?

TokyoSeven October 10th, 2007 22:08

I have an M4. There may have been flower and/or bows on it at once point in time.

In the US:
Wave a gun (real or fake) and you get shot.
Wave a gun with orange tip (real or fake) and you get shot.
Wave your cell/wallet and you get shot.

What is to be learned? Don't be a jackass, keep your hands in the air. Don't reach for anything, if you currently have something LISTEN TO THE COPS and don't wave/point it at someone!

So there is no hole on the tip/hinder where an allen key fits in? Is the gun tip metal or plastic?

also watch out for "reverse threading" on the flash hider.if all else fails, cover the parts you dont want painted with newspaper( or paintball magazine )and some masking tape, and just paint the flash hider with it still mounted on the weapon.

Make and model would be nice if you want help, there is no universal way to remove X piece from Y gun, unless of course you consider a dremel an option.

This has been discussed before guys, the Search tool is your friend.
Freebie of the month: If it's paint, paint remover solution (used carefully) will work. Light steel wool (and time) will also work.
If it's threaded on or glued on, it will depend on the information you provide.

No, you dont need an orange tip in Canada.

A LOT of criminals paint their guns to make them look like toys, then shoot someone. Like this one below.

That's awesome! Someone's team should do it at least once, and get pictures of it!

kalnaren October 11th, 2007 09:42

this thread is at least 75% fail.

Red012 October 11th, 2007 12:12

If you are asking about the Kraken, the tip comes off, just pull on it and if you cant get a grip use pliers.

Corbin October 14th, 2007 18:51

ya its the Kraken, I've tried pulling it off with pliers but its just mangling the plastic.

dodger_me October 14th, 2007 18:56

Just turn and pull it will come off eventualy, Thats what i did to mine, Dont worry about trying to paint the tip that comes off.

C.

you are right, it is NOT illigal to have an orange tip....that is for the US only

Jackie Boy October 15th, 2007 14:19

Is the kraken a good gun ?
I couldnt find any reviews on it.

mateba October 15th, 2007 14:47

If its plastic it will probably unscrew or have a set screw, if this is the case buy a new flash hider and use the orange one for transport. I removed or replaced all my orange muzzle devices. An orange flash hider is like seeing a guy with a white "T" and levis in the middle of the woods while your are engaged in a war sim, its a total distraction to reality.

There's a few reviews about it on this site. Where did you look?

I tried Google and on ASC.
The google one's are advertisements and the ones on ASC are mainly people saying they ordered the gun and they painted the clear parts black.

Molson October 15th, 2007 15:36

first search here for "kraken" revealed this as the 4th thread

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...ghlight=kraken

Jackie Boy October 15th, 2007 15:42

Ya, thanks Molson...i browsed through that one...theres alot of random crap in there hahaha.
But so far the kraken seems to be a good bang for the buck !

mateba October 15th, 2007 22:03

so what if its illegal, cops have more important things to do and they would probably want to look at it instead of writing me a ticket. I wonder what the consequences are?

I tried it (nail polish remover) on my g36 metal hinder. NO GO. I went to Canadian tire and purchased automotive spray paint remover can stuff. It was hardcore, but it worked. I let the hinder soak in a glass baby bottle (closed lid so it won't stink up the room) for 15 minutes then wiped off the orange paint right off easily.

shifty51 December 21st, 2007 22:51

on met the castrol super clean, or super clean as it is now known (purple bottle) works well. Just set the gun tip in it for a day or two and it comes off with a toothbrush and some elbow grease. P.S. you can buy it at your local crappy tire.

I bought a Kraken and used it for a good while. The bushings eventually died, but easy fix. After this, the gun still shoots true for a good 175-200 feet. Excellent if you are novice to advanced. Lots of fun. Check out youtube for any reviews.
