M4 Masterkey
I always thought having a grenade launcher mounted on my lower RIS would be dandy. I changed my mind when I saw images of a shotgun mounted to the bottom of an M4 instead. From what I believe the setup is called a masterkey, and after some thought and some research I decided to make one myself. Over all it was a very easy processes to do, the simple use of an shotgun with an rail on the top mounted to my bottom RIS rail with little bracketed clamps.
I know its nothing fancy, but to me its like a flower and as the time goes, it will grow and change. Eventually I'll put in a metal body of my fancy and remove the carry handle all together and mount a rear M4 sight only. But its all just ideas right now. But onto the images! http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/2...terkey1mn4.jpg Seen here, is the basic set up, M4 RIS with hurricane 416, 6 position collapsable stock, and simple pump action shotgun mounted on the bottom RIS panel. Additional images. http://http://img341.imageshack.us/i...terkey2yv6.jpg With carrying handle riser and Aimpoint mount. I just threw that on there to make it look all fancy. I know its not really needed. http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/9...terkey3yi9.jpg http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/7...terkey4ta6.jpg There you have it folks. I just thought I would share it with you for fun. I got a chance to game with it this past weekend. At first its a little awkward to swing around, especially if your in an enclosed area. But eventually you get the hang of it. Unfortunetly it is a bitch to put together with out two sets of hands. Unless your very paitent, it will probly take you a couple of times to get the first braket set on unless you have help. With two people it takes about 2 minutes to set it all up and its very very sturdy. No issues pumping and firing at all. I like it, its a little bit heavy but with a good sling, its not to bad to navigate. Anyways I just thought I would share this all with you for fun. Enjoy. |
lol nice. Clear soft shotgun? How well does it shoot?
|
Average of 205fps with .25s. Its nothing fancy, but its more for the look.
|
lol fancy

Did what I could, wasnt a hole lot of shotguns out there that I could justify terrying the stock off of and then butchering to mount.

If only it was small enough to fit well on a 552...now that would be awsome!

Thats verry cool I have seen that in a few video games and such.
If it had a shorter barell it might look beter or a full sized m16. |
Heh, someone should try attaching that sawn off shotgun you can get off of WGC onto the bottom of an M4.

G'day,
Very nice! I just got it into my head last night that I wanted one of these (Predator rerun on TV, ya know). There is a "Masterkey" shotgun out there, but it's an Ithaca something rather than an 870 and the mount is for an M4 not an M16A2. Looks pretty much identical to yours, at 5x the price! Well done, sir.

Did you paint the thing? It still looks kind of black in the picture.

gotta ask this, where do you get those new userbars from? (i know, flame away)
|
I thought it was a clearsoft shotgun. Also, where did you get the rail for the top of the shotgun?
|
KTW makes the R.I.S Ithaca M37(correct me if I'm wrong) Something to look at down the road, also comes with parts to make it a stand-alone shotty too. Very nice Masterkey though TokyoSeven, always liked that set-up myself.

Shotgun has an integral rail. He just attached both the rails using clamps from scope mounts.

Vondnik you're still one of my favourite airsofters that I miss playing with. You always had the sweetest f***ing guns... |
Its not a clearsoft shotty that I used, but its not the greatest quality either.
http://images.hobbytron.com/SD-SM47D2-lg.jpg The brand is double eagle. Essentially by using the shottys top rail I was able to clamp it via brackets to the lower RIS rail of the m4. The shotty is a little bit glossy and looks like its painted in some spots due to the fact that there was some glue spilt on it. |
G'day,
Vondnik: Is that a TM M3 mounted there? Any chance on better pics of how it's attached?
