Eagle Industries - Sniper Vest

Ok so i'm packing a SR-25 and i was wondering if anyone know's if the mags fit in the Eagle Industries Sniper Vest. Also has anyone used the vest before? If yes, how's the quality and performance?

What the vest will need to hold:
1 or 2 150 round SR-25 mags
Silencer
Map
Knife/Compass/Crap

Did you concider buying a load bearing harnest or something similar? If you are planning on doing a lot of prone shooting and crawling, this vest will come in the way.

When I'm sniping, I'm using a very old and beaten CF webbing that is falling appart. I use it because my stomac is clear of pouches and it's light and flexible. The pouches are located on my side and back. I can even use it with my ghillie suit and it's not bulky or hot.

Other that that, I think this vest would be a compromise, but you won't be able to carry à lot of stuff, and you will need some sort of back pack or belt pouches.

Just get a Rhodesian. It's the best rig out there for the price.

Hellcat makes a couple of good LBV's which situate places to attach your standard Molle pouches to the sides and on the back.

As Fox said, you'll want something that'll be out of your way should you go prone or crawl a lot. That vest will be horribly annoying.

Ok thx guys, i'll look into those :)

Edit: Isn't a Rhodesian a dog lol?

No. It's not a dog (in this context anyway)

Get a HSGI sniper waist pack and some HSGI suspenders that way you can still wear a 2 piece ghillie suit. The waist back will hole at least 3 mags a large radio/water bottle and some other small things (batteries , extra bb's). For light duty its the best route.

lupo really has the best idea. With what you're carrying, you can easily get away with just using your BDU pockets. A nice streamlined first line will do fine for what you want to carry, and will still be useful if you move up to bigger and better stuff.

Keep it light otherwise you'd die on really hot days.

Thats exactly what I roll with and it works great. It fits 4 AR mags easily with room for extra odds and sods. The suspenders keeps it in place without flopping around. As a first line item, you can add other gear without interfering with your loadout.

+1 for the Sniper Waist Pack. I have a khaki one on a pistol belt (this pack doesn't work very well with pants belt, it took me a good 10mins to get it centered and I found it difficult to access the rearmost pocket where I keep my camo face paint and mirror), along with a Maxpedition Rolly Polly dump pouch and a Phantom dual pistol mag pouch.

Yuppers! Well worth the $60CDN!

Ronan July 26th, 2007 19:17

Ok gonna grab one thats multicam. Pretty good price also :D
Recommend anything else? Like front vest with no pockets or something?

lupo July 26th, 2007 20:32

Id recommend that setup and possibly a leg rig if you absolutely needed to carry more stuff. This is the type of rig you would wear for recce/sniping stuff where you arent going to engage lots of people. Its a shoot and scoot rig.
