What's your favorite gun?

tell the world ( well, mostly canada) here!

spittin fire May 27th, 2007 19:33

its my thread, i might as well start it, i've ALWAYS liked the MP5. its just so versitile, it almost becomes a part of your body. metaphorically of course. anyway, even though it only uses pistol ammo its still great. a shot to the head is a shot to the head.;)

Lakonian May 27th, 2007 19:46

A shot to the head at 350+ meters with 9mm is more like a hard punch to your kevlar.

My favourite of all time is the HK416. Before that it was the M4-SOPMOD, and G36KE

I own (AS) the G36, now just need the 416, and we're good :)

i don't think thats fair saying that haha. The MP5 wins for its versatility, ergonomics, ROF, while still having a lot of penetration power just to do its job. Who will "snipe" you with an MP5 350+ Meters away anyways lol.
Well that info applies to Real- Steel. For airsoft though, most AEGs have pretty much, equal performance.

If you like to put it this way, then the .50 Barrett is way better than the HK416 because the .50 cal. have confirmed kills 1000meters+ away.

no offense here ;) . just expressed IMHO

Glocks are pretty nice for me :)

Lakonian May 27th, 2007 20:21

I'm in no way disputing which gun can do what. I know the 416 can't reach out, and smack ya at 1km. I'm merely stating that a pistol round is nowhere near rifle round effectiveness.

The Mp5 is definately a solid weapon. However, it's calibre is a huge downside. Probably a downside that would get me killed.

philstructo May 27th, 2007 20:24

I like the M14 and M249

dontask May 27th, 2007 20:25

if we're talking calibers... shouldn't this go in the off-topic section?

I got no real steel experience so :P

LUTNIT May 27th, 2007 20:31

M60, not even chuck norris can beat Rambo!

That or an HK417, you can keep your little girly 5.56mm ammo.

And doesn't .50 cal sniper rifles have confirmed kills at more than 2400 meters?

roughshadow May 27th, 2007 20:43

I am sure this guy is talking airsoft only boys and girls

My favorite is the famas v2.

Probably. The 12.7mm is a giant round, with alot of momentum.

5.56 is better for CQB (IMHO) because the follow-up shots don't require too much adjustment. Also, I think 5.56 is easier to control in auto, or 2/3rnd burst.

(@ Lutnit : You gotta show me some pics of your completed 417! Can't wait to see it finished :D)

Mist3r.B May 27th, 2007 20:48

I like long barrel, long range rifles such as M-16 and M-14. I find them somehow noble because they are weapon of marksmanship. One shot one kill. Even if it's not necesserly the most profitable phylosophy for moderne combat, I still like the idea.

ThunderCactus May 27th, 2007 20:54

I don't know what any of you people are talking about!
my favorite gun, by far, is the Rheinmetall 120mm L55 smoothbore!
It's what they put in the Leopard 2s

FYI a rifle is what your thinking of, a gun is something you find on tanks, field artillery, and naval destroyers.

HK21E; belt fed, high reliability, abnormally accurate (for a machinegun), select fire semi-burst-kickass, and has a magazine adaptor so you can REALLY use it as a rifle lol

attack-beaver May 27th, 2007 21:25

you have to make me pick my top fave?

philstructo May 27th, 2007 21:56

If we wre talkin real thing that we have fired AK47 or Banelli M4

My SanDisk 512MB SD Card

TokyoSeven May 27th, 2007 22:47

Disco kinetic hyper phase distrupter photon emiter blaster rifle. V2

I kid, as for anything real Ive fired Im rather fond of a winchester 3030.
As for anything Ive never fired, id like to give a P90 a shot.

Hux37 May 27th, 2007 23:14

For airsoft I would have to go Steyr AUG and M14. Complete opposites in their roles, but fulfill both for me rather well.

Stone Evil May 27th, 2007 23:48

The G36C for me. It's just so darn sexy.

Kos-Mos May 28th, 2007 00:05

Steir AUG
H&K MP7
Artic Warfare L96
Fabrique Nationale P90
H&K G36K (Full lenght is too much, C is too compact)

Never fired any of these...(the real ones I mean) It would be nice to give a try...

Airsoft I still have to try a MP7.... but still near the top of the list.... perfect to replace a pistol.... when sniping.... or when in an heli.... ermmm sorry, got carried away;)

I'd like to meet the man who could make a center-mass shot (let alone a head shot) with a 9mm short-barrelled gun at 350+ metres. Make sure to aim for the sky in hopes you could lob it at the target.

I've seen some very good pistol marksman have a hard time with a head shot at 100 metres. They aim many inches or even a foot above the target and may drift left or right to secure the shot. And they've fired more real rounds than you have fired airsoft BBs I guarantee you.

But back on topic, I'd have to say that the Systema MAX PTW is my favorite airsoft gun and my favorite real gun is a Glock (19 for 9mm and 22 for .40 S&W) for pistol and an AR for rifle. If you fire the real ones, AR's are the easiest to shoot, and most accurate of the available-in-Canada-semi-auto-black-rifles. MP5's are difficult to shoot, especially in full-auto which is they're strength.

Yea, too bad the Israelis assassinated him before he was able to finish.

Lakonian May 28th, 2007 08:17

I think you misunderstood me there :p What I meant was... 9mm is just a pistol cartrige, and will never be more.

The AR is definately one of the nicest RS rifles. But I don't think it's anymore accurate than the SL-8. I heard the sl8 is acctually the most accurate/reliable rifle on the can-market.

Oh, and keep your eye out for the Robinson Arms XCR. Damn that thing's a beast.

Barrett M468
KAC SR-25
Magpul Masada
The VLTOR MUR slammed on a POF P415 Gen 3 Lower (I'd implode if that was possible in airsoft)
Mk. 14 Mod. 0 EBR

Glock 23
Sig Sauer P226
Kimber Custom II

ThunderCactus May 28th, 2007 20:51

actually, i hear VLTOR upper recievers are fully compatible (no mods) with airsoft lower recievers, i also heard they dont make the upper reciever anymore, but inokatsu makes a VLTOR clone, thats pretty close lol

Ruger Mini-14, Lee Enfield .303, AK47 (of course), M24, M92F, Walther PPK/S, Glock 18 or 19, and if it was a real gun...the first season battlestar galactica pistol/revolver.

vondnik May 28th, 2007 22:19

I'm realy enjoying my 733 at the moment.. althow the gas port is a bit to large so the carrier realy get's hammered in the buffer. Going to have to make myself a gas regulator of some sort

matt491 May 28th, 2007 22:33

For me, it'd probably be the M4A1 simply because of it's versatility. Slap on a flashlight and a red dot scope, hike in the adjustable stock and you got a CQB weapon. Throw on a silencer to elongate the barrel, a 9X32 scope and a bi-pod and you've got a relatively effective sniper, toss on a grenade launcher and you've got a kick ass assault weapon.

*sigh* She owns my heart.

Amazing KG3 May 28th, 2007 22:47

Modularity , and ergonomics are the only good things about the M4A1 if you're looking at a combat rifle. Read up about the gas impingement system....

And I think you have Losttourist's M4 in your avatar :p

talon May 28th, 2007 23:02

I'm personally very fond of the USPc. It's got great ergonomics, looks hot, and very reliable (real-steel, anyway). I don't have much real-steel experience, but I have played a fair amount with an airsoft USP, and I find it very effective. Learning to love mp5s as well, but I don't have nearly the same amount of time put into those as I do the USP and pistols in general.

Other faves? The G26 is fantastic (I've got a thing for compacts, it seems), and I have started to enjoy the M9 also.

Now as far as my favorite gun I like the m4 and its variants. That said I also really like my new mp5 a2. I do admit though to being an admirer of the old guns as well. Everything from the Thompson to the lever action winchester rifles.

- Harris 6"-9" Bipod;
- LaRue 104 scope mount.

nightcloud May 29th, 2007 20:03

guess Im getting of topic eh?

 well for airsoft
if I wasn't so broke. it would prolly be the classic army m15a4 cqb with all the stuff you could throw on it

I already have my favorite airsoft guns for CQB

with real steel things get a lil complicated
if the gun laws wheren't so strict and if your talking general use

-Springfield arms M14 (iron sights or a decent scope) with 168gr BTSP(I think)

-Ithaca 37 pump action shotgun or Mossburg 500 pump action shotgun (ghost ring sights) with combo of 00buck and slugs

-Para Ordanace 1911a1 (three dot night sights) with 230gr hp+P loads

if I had the chance to fire the M82 Barret I would but thought lugging a 31lb 5 foot long rifle with bullets that cost about $50-$80 a box isn't too appealing.... when you consider that for the same price you can get two or three maybe four boxes of 308. bullets

now if you are talking just one rifle to survive with in a third world country would be the FN Fal or the AKM. the AK is very common from what I see on the news so it would be a safe bet that magazines and parts are easy to come by, also I wouldn't want to alert the local milita's by firing a M4 and making them think I'm some special forces guy or worse, an american

I don't have alot of exp with subguns

pistols its always going to be the 1911A1

War is expensive eh?.......

Switch from auto to carbine???? "Auto" is fully automatic fire, whereas "carbine" is a shorter barreled version of the rifle.... You don't switch from auto to carbine.

The AKM. Hands down my favorite firearm of all time. Better then the AK-47, good old M43 round, and gorgeous wood and compensator.

If I was to go for just the "ultimate" AK, Id go for the 103.

Would consider the HK417 perhaps.

Sniper goes to the classic SVD (no synthetic or folding stocks, or bullpups)

Machineguns go to RPK (light) PKM (universal)

Handgun choice goes to the original Beretta 92fs (no ugly rails or grips or slides). Desert Eagle in .44 also goes as a second choice, purely for range fun, at a high cost.

Shotgun would be one of the new tactical Spetsnaz tricked out Saigas.

Love US WW2 weapons too, particularly the Thompson and the Garand.

As for airsoft, I like what I own - the TM AK, ICS AK (well... owned), KJW M9, AGM M14. Although I could always use much, much more. Would love an Escort custom built AKM gas blowback.

Cheers,
Alex

And the P90 is NOT a rifle, its a PTW (personal defense weapon)
