now i am thinking where i should get a guarder or an angs gear set...

any idea or anyone who used the heavest spring on these gears? my plan is still to use the 22lbs spring...

Ibby May 25th, 2007 00:13

Get a Guarder gear set. The stock one won't last long.

TANK_10 May 25th, 2007 13:02

HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOD WHERE YOUN PUT A VERSION 3 MECH BOX INTO YOUR M60? ITS WHAT I PLAN TO DO WHEN MINE DIES.....

dermonic May 26th, 2007 19:08

thing is i want to maintain the originality :P

TANK_10 May 28th, 2007 18:14

YOU BET, THE ORIGINALITY AND SIMPLICITY OF THE BELLOW SYSTEM VERSES THE V3 MECH BOX...........ANY HELPFUL HINTS ON FEED ISSUES AND UPGRADES (SPRINGS....FPS.....FEED BOX AND FEEDER MECHANISM FOR FEED BOX)?

NachoPuddin May 28th, 2007 18:31

Your bellows come in yet Tank? And damn those gears looked torched

WHY ARE YOU YELLING"!?!?1!1!?

Oh, and V3 FTW. I can't imagine running anything else in a support role.

Krieg May 28th, 2007 19:08

Damn, I almost sent a PM that I have a package of TOP m60 (orig TOP) gears that I do not use.

Than I saw your location haha.

CDN_Stalker May 28th, 2007 19:57

Haven't dealt with the bellows of the TOP guns (keep hearing they are crap), but I rebuilt Red_Tiger's TOP M60 a couple months ago and it had the cylinder upgrade, and worked damn well once I got everything done!

Ibby May 28th, 2007 21:34

Yeah, the bellows system is total crap. If you need parts for one Stalker I gave my stock stuff to Testtube for his parts bin. Either the Angs cylinder (great upgrade) or the Guarder cylinder (even better upgrade) puts the bellows to shame. The stock-ish mechbox assembly of the 249 makes even a V3 look unreliable, and if you upgrade it to full Guarder components, you'll be in support role heaven.

CDN_Stalker May 28th, 2007 21:39

Only problem with the one Lutnit bought from Red_Tiger (yes, it's back in Ottawa, hopefully for good now) is that damn trigger contacts problem. I thought I fixed it for good by soldering a shaped peice of brass around the contact on the trigger, worked great when I had it and RT had it, now it's gone intermittant again. Fucking thing, as annoying as the microswitch in Apoc's CA M249!!!!

Ibby May 28th, 2007 23:02

Micro switches suck. Best way to keep them consistent is to spray them with brake cleaner oddly enough.

Kos-Mos May 29th, 2007 01:55

Just plug a fet in there... there won't be any problems anymore...

It's not so much the microswitch contacts (there was some carbonization that I filed off on one of the contacts from arching) on the CA M249 I'm working on, it's the damn arm the trigger stud presses. It has to be bent in such a way that the trigger can press it down enough to make the switch close, but also has to be bent in such a way that the end of the switch arm doesn't come close to the spinning sector gear (it has in the past, caught the gear and fucked the arm up). Add in this arm (the third replacement) is starting to weaken............ it'll work for a few trigger pulls, then start to bend in such a way that it doesn't make contact anymore. Sorry for the convoluted description, I'm working on my second coffee. :smack:

TANK_10 June 5th, 2007 16:26

where can you find these upgrades? I'm fairly new at this and would like to make the mother of all s.a.w's out of my m60 shorty but find it hard to get accurate and reliable info and upgrade solutions. I've looked through the retailers, etc. buut always come up short.
