SIG making airsoft???

Found this at the SIG website:

http://www.sigarms.com/Products/Show...?categoryid=51

Do you think SIG has started making airsoft guns? They would probably rock if they did, given their reputation with real steel. The only other thought is that they are simply the Marui products being advertised by SIG. But the pistols claim to have metal slides, which the Marui don't. Anyone know anything more about this?

Holy freaking awesome batman!

ChappyAK May 7th, 2007 23:08

AIR SIG

i wonder what the quality will be like......prob frikin deadly id imagine....

littlerobz May 7th, 2007 23:08

I think my love affair with the Sig Sauer just got more expensive.

thephenom May 7th, 2007 23:09

The pistol says "Made in Taiwan" on the frame....so I doubt Sig is making it on their own. And for the Sig 552, it has the Marui sticker on the stock!!!

If Sig did make their own 552, I would so get one as a collector piece. :D

DoctorDeath May 7th, 2007 23:21

I guess the AEG could be Marui and the pistols KJW, althouhg the markings on the P226 are different from my KJW P226, and I have the one with trades.

damn it phenom you beat me to it
if sig really made them then that would be special

Lakonian May 7th, 2007 23:34

I think they're just showcasing sig replicas. Check the SVIguns.com site. They're showcasing WA's replicas of their pieces. I don't think sig would waste time making airsoft, and if they did... it'd be outsourced to some shit company.

Amazing KG3 May 7th, 2007 23:44

KJ makes the p226 and p229, infact im almost certain that those are the same, because of the way the trades are. nice try!

Looks like someone got smart in a lawsuit and decided to team up rather than litigate.

I have always said airsoft is a great force on force (GBBs in particular) training medium. The absence of full recoil is not a big enough negative to just ignore it as such.

Coma May 23rd, 2007 11:44

They're advocating re-using BBs.

Gerkraz May 23rd, 2007 11:45

He said "recycle" not reuse...perhaps he meant recycle the plastic?

Coupled with live fire training, you can't beat it.. there are lots of police and Military taking a long look at airsoft for force on force. Simuniton has done a good marketing job but with the cost of receiver kits and the cost of the ammo..balanced against what the same money will buy in airsoft... well the math speaks for itself. The fact that SIG is jumping on board promoting Airsoft guns as trainers for their arms is telling..

For close combat training airsoft are excellent simulators... outside of 15 m the simulation falls apart pretty quickly.

But even for field training the force on force benefits are valuable despite the limitations of 6mm bbs.

Im gonna be a nerd here for a minute, How many of us set up targets in our own time and drill. Please dont laugh at me (cower)

Lakonian May 23rd, 2007 14:21

Don't have a nice holster to draw from, so it's pretty much "muzzle up-fire" type drilling for me, same goes for rifle drill.

It's called dry fire practice and it's a valid (if under utilized) and extremely valuable form of training. I use my real stuff for it as well.

"Train like you fight" means different things to different people.

In regards to real firearms training, dry fire facilitates many more repetitions without breaking the bank on ammo. I don't know many civilians (or LEO or Mil for that matter LOL) that have access to 400 to 1000 rounds per week for training.

Doing 400 reps of a primary grip and presentation takes 15 minutes in your house, and doesn't cost a cent (unless you leave one in the tube :D ). I do dry fire at least once a week.

You should always try to be proficient and the best you can be at whatever you lay your hand to......

Why should airsoft be any different? GO FOR IT! :D

LIke we need another excuse to dress up in all our leet shit and act like Mall Ninjas!

Couple things wrong in this video but overall cool. Also, it's nice to hear good news about airsoft. Makes a change of the bad publicity we see on tv these days.

Gerkraz May 23rd, 2007 14:30

absolutely agreed with Blackthorne

There's a target in my basement for that exact reason.

OMG. I laughed at that one when I read it! Do you mean because your walls get damaged? Or because of injuries? :S

Both if you leave a live round in there...

But now that I read it again...it sure sounds like something else! :D

course not.. ;)

Styrak May 23rd, 2007 17:01

This thread has so much sexual connotation it isn't even funny. Reps of gripping your weapon? Leaving one in the tube? Dry firing at least one time a week? Being proficient at whatever you lay your hand to?

My god people...

:P

Amazing KG3 May 23rd, 2007 17:06

Oh my! He say'd "backyard" and "airsoft" in the same sentence!

F!reStorm* May 23rd, 2007 17:32

... re-use bbs and "practice" with friends in your basement. lol I know someone who would tell 'em to read the faq if that person wouldn't be banned. : )

Kind of annoys me. Sig is selling these guns for WAY JACKED up prices and ripping off law enforcement people who might use them for Force on Force training.

Hell, KJW offered trademarked versions before this for much cheaper prices.
