key stone III

is there any info that a third installment of KS is going to be done or what?

mcguyver February 27th, 2007 21:48

Sorry, there will be no KS 3 this year. In it's place, there will be a 24 hour game of Yahtzee.

It sounded funny when I spoke out loud before I typed it. I do that sometimes. Talk to myself I mean.

Fidget11 February 27th, 2007 21:52

f*ck i wanted them to do scrabble... oh well there is always ks4 i suppose.

Flabeo February 27th, 2007 21:53

What happened to KS 2. did it happen because I remember the news of it the it kinda dwindled. Was there a video of the game?

mcguyver February 27th, 2007 21:57

KS 2 was supposed to happen in 2005. They got flooded out in Biblical proportions, so it was cancelled. They did the same scenario in 2006 and called it KS 2.5. I haven't seen any actual game video, but there were photos on JOC and MAA froums of the game at one point. I haven't looked lately to see if they are still there.

ThunderCactus February 27th, 2007 22:03

KS2.5 pictures are still up
we're thinking about having keystone III hosted at the new JSOC field in neepawa this year, its bigger than the ranch, its got light rolling hills, and its closer to the sask guys.

mcguyver February 27th, 2007 22:26

And I hear that it has a cannon, APCs and landing strip for airdrops.

ThunderCactus February 27th, 2007 22:31

the cannon is for operation cleaver (another national op).
theres a small airstrip close by, and Mark's APC should be at every op on the 'JSOC proving grounds' as it's been named.
hope to see you guys there :p

seekah February 27th, 2007 22:35

Good, I enjoyed the game, it was worth the fly from BC,
I will make the next one for sure!

Graham February 27th, 2007 22:38

guyver scared me for a second! till I realized he was being a smartass haha

I'm lookin gforward to the game, if I make it. it would be my first national game, and the vid from the first one looked awsome. helecopters again?

attack-beaver February 27th, 2007 22:44

EDIT didn't notice the smart ass till i read the thread again.

so are we still looking at a game and if so whens the sign up start hoping to get in on this one.

and how are the teams going to be done?

ThunderCactus February 27th, 2007 23:06

hey, now we havent reached that point yet lol
at the very minimum it will be posted up 90 days in advance.
there was a freak flood during KS2.5 and our helo had to do emergency medevac, no word on a helicopter for KS3; no planning has been done as of yet.

Graham February 27th, 2007 23:08

Teams ar esuaully Canada Vs. US

as in Canada (OD/CADPAT) vs. US (3/6 colors, marpat, dpm)

correct?

swatt13 February 27th, 2007 23:41

wasnt it a tornado that ruined the whole chopper thing?
here are some pics from ks2.5
i do have 2 short clips, but no way to upload them at the present. never got around to em, cuz it was never important. they wree pretty shitty... its kinda hard to video a battle, whilst returning fire and trying to avoid getting shot.

as far as ks3, all i know is its a drug catrel vs canada faction themeish thing? is that right. only heard it through the grape vine, so dont take my word for it.

Last year our helo was used to fly the RCMP around for damage assessment due to a tornado.

With regards to KS3, we briefly discussed the game over Christmas, as far as I know there was no decision on the story line, and we discussed a couple of different host locations but no final decision was reached.

This is a game that we would like to host again this year, so stay tuned for more information.

Aaidin February 28th, 2007 15:18

We couldn't make it last year, but I've got a team of 6-8 guys who will probably be making a trek out from BC if Keystone Strike runs again this year.

Ibby February 28th, 2007 16:39

I'll be in, should it be a go. I've got a shiny new engine in the Jeep now ;)

ValkXB70 February 28th, 2007 17:01

Yes there will be a KS3, stay tuned as final details are still being formulated. The Wolfpack WBAT will be releasing the official details soon...

attack-beaver February 28th, 2007 17:48

sweets.

just wundering this year will other camos be used cause i would like to where my flecktarn.

medhatboy February 28th, 2007 17:58

I'm pretty sure that if we make it out (Team Swat out of Brooks) we'll more then likely be wearing multicam as most of us either have it or are in the process of getting it.

damage February 28th, 2007 18:06

I'm flying this time. The road trip was great experience but couldn't get enough sleep.

ThunderCactus February 28th, 2007 18:06

for huge scale ops its better to keep the camo's simple, flecktarn is too unique, but DPM is similar to woodlands, danish M84 is like cadpat, US tricolor, multicam and chocolate chip are also very similar. no use confusing people with 30 different patterns on one team.
we're yet to see the JSOC field in summer so i have no idea what works best out there should we use it for KS3

Technically my team wears Flecktarn as well. Although we're perfectly willing just to get some CF OD's for the event (some of us have already). Still, it would be cool if we could have a couple more camos represented.

swatt13 February 28th, 2007 23:43

well if it was in alberta im sure there will be one hell of a turnout. there is an over abundance of players in bc and alberta that would be more willing to go if it was held closer to home.

last year i dont believe there was one ontarian nor PC player there, which was a shame as it was on their door step lol. would be nice to have it at the joc field.

yea same i understand its different but its like cadpat with some red

Jughead March 1st, 2007 00:06

That was the first time i saw the photos from the game.. I didnt even notice the guy taking my photo, and he got me more than a few times.

It would be nice to have it in Alberta, the attendance would be through the roof.

Zekk05 March 1st, 2007 16:51

the more camos that are allowed, the less realistic it looks. Honestly, if its a Canada vs US game, the camos should be OD / Cadpat vs Woodlands / ACU Marpat only . Nothing else.

Keystone is a MB held event and I suspect all future KS events to remain here. That doesnt mean that large events cant be organized in Alberta by the AB players.

MacRae March 4th, 2007 21:34

Hey guys

There will be a KSIII for sure this year! It will likely be held on the Man/Sask border and make it about 5 hours closer for you alberta folks. for those of you flying in it will make it a bit farther though as it is about a 3 hr drive to the game location. But it will be well worth it! It will be a Wolfpack Western Battalion hosted event.

The helo is part of the plan (yes thundercactus said there havent been any plans but he is very wrong as I have been drawing up the game for the past 3months in my spare time) but acts of destruction beyond our control will always have priority for the helo pilot.

stay tuned!

swatt13 March 6th, 2007 00:53

awesome ct. thats great news about the new location and good news about the bird. you still owe me a ride on one lol. i love your ops and will be there anytime theres a KS op. can you give us a little insight into the theme and paramiters?

any idea on a date yet? sooner we know, the more of my squad can make it.

wolfman01 March 6th, 2007 01:12

Date would be good. Sooner the better.:)

CT has the final word, but KS series games are typically held on the August long weekend to allow people from out of province to travel.

MacRae March 6th, 2007 22:10

August 4th - 5th which is infact the August Long

In keeping with the trends of large op's in the US im thinking the strict camo restrictions are the way to go.

Kimbo March 7th, 2007 01:54

Git er done...we'll have alot more alberta boys out again this year.

Voodoo March 7th, 2007 08:42

YAH 5 less hours. Thank GOD it will make a nice difference in the drive this year.

Cant wait to get my new toys out for this year.

Cushak March 8th, 2007 00:36

Videos and images from KSI were actually what made me want to get into this sport, and ever since I've been wanting to go to one. As long as everything works out, I'd love to be there.

swatt13 March 11th, 2007 23:22

hey davin where is it located this year. not on the ranch in woodlands, would like to know so i can start planning so i dont get screwed over like last year.

Srewed over?

swatt13 March 12th, 2007 22:47

you know what i mean pry, i had a ride, then i got screwed over and didnt, then i did, then i didnt... then, thank god you guys came along or i wouldnt have been able to go. so it worked out in the end and i actually wouldnt have had it happen any other way. but i doubt the miraculous turn of events would happen twice in a life time lol.

Mulitkikr March 13th, 2007 19:41

Cool. I thought something else happened that i might have slept through or something...

mcguyver March 13th, 2007 19:55

Rumours abound that it's going to be at JSOC's field this year. That means it will be a 12 hour trip from home instead of 14 hours.

MacRae March 18th, 2007 04:39

those are sofar just rumors. I havent yet recce'd that field to determine wether I want to run it there. Spring is comin though and I will get out there in the next few weeks forsure! (as well as plan C's field recce ;))Also more factors like its further for the Heli to fly since they are based east of Wpg. (I pay for 6hrs fly time. that includes his trip there and home so shorter distance for him to fly the more it benefits us)

swatt13 March 19th, 2007 01:10

i was told its being held in nepawa mb, is that correct ct?

That's where the new JSOC field is located, so if CT decides to hold it at their field then Yes, it will be in Neepawa.

There will not be a final decision on the field location until the snow is gone and we have the chance to look over the different choices.

wolfman01 March 19th, 2007 16:25

Just a observation. Last year I really didn't care that hilo didn't show. I think the game was good with the vehicles alone. Its alot more interesting when you can interact or fight with everything your up against. If the hilo is in the area its not like we can battle away while we try to board. But stealing vehicles and mock destroying them was awsome. A hilo would be OK but if you put more into the props side, such as bases and other vehicles and props that would be every bit as good.

Just a little imput, I'll be definitly going this year again.

swatt13 March 19th, 2007 18:39

the prospect of getting helo'd in and out of a location all special forces like what the deciding fator on driving 10+ hours to play a game lol. but i do agree, the helo isnt a neccissity, so if you cant get one ct, dont worry about it.

Jayhad March 19th, 2007 19:17

Hey CT I know you said US vs CAN does that mean multicam will be included in the allowed camo?

swatt13 March 19th, 2007 19:26

i hope so, thats all team swat uses now lol.

swatt13 May 18th, 2007 17:51

just getting nervous, the forums were up and running by now thiis time last year, ks is only 3 months away. whats going on, any updates?

Gord (Frogman) May 18th, 2007 20:25

Coming Very Soon

Yes I know that's the same thing that's been said everytime, but this time I mean it lol.

ValkXB70 May 18th, 2007 20:48

By the end of the month KS3 will be unveiled.

swatt13 June 5th, 2007 20:55
