The Future of Airsoft
 

Don't flame me, I am merely asking opinions!

In your personal opinion, given the recent happenings with customs, the RCMP, etc, what does the future hold for airsoft? Things change and nothing is ever truly written in stone, but I'm interested in reading the opinions of ASC users.

Having personally been out of the sport for some time, then coming back and reading about the raids, the customs seizures, etc - I am a little worried about the future.

Any light shining in this thread is purely speculative, I suppose.

It will eventually be banned because a reasonable percentage of people are incapable of seeing beyond their own stupidity.

Dude, seriously... nothing will happen. AFAIK we're still in the green. I was sketchy when I joined, but now, I see soo many "the sky is falling" posts, that I just ignore the situation. PLUS... I'm too busy building my M4 to be anything but apathetic.

Its been in the shadow of destruction for over a decade...i think we'll be fine for some time.

We have ups and downs, I think we're on the road to recovery after losing most of the notable retailers out west. Certainly not a hightime for getting guns, but the sky seems to be staying up again. Since I'm good on guns for a while, my bigger concern is that of gas prices going through the roof again during the warmer months, as that can hurt attendance. Though since I don't drive, I suppose that would encourage people to carpool me for gas money. :rolleyes:

In the Future were all gonna use real steel instead just that were gonna replace the bullets with Airsoft rounds (BB with caseings)

Then the milsim players will stop b!tching too.

I suppose one solution for the interim is to simply get age verified and purchase a used AEG.

What exactly are you looking for anyways?

Or be happy with whats available. new guns are coming in but people have got to be willing to take whats in stock if they want to start playing that bad.

Hmm. I'm new to this. But I kinda agree with what some of what you guys said, particularily trufret: If you want a gun, you have to pick from think stock, but you still have a little choice.

Fuck that. Build one from scratch. If you can't find a nice enough gun, and make it your dream gun.

I prefer the used option. I've bought 2 guns new, and they work just as well as the used guns. It's way cheaper to get used guns, and usually they've already been broken in and passed the 'I hope it holds together' Trial phase.
Not to mention upgrades.

I got a full metal TM G3-SG1 Hybrid upgraded to 400 fps for what a new G3 A4 would have cost brand new.

Building your own will cost a hell of a lot more than buying a used gun and changing things around....

It'll get banned at the request of some soccer moms and other various pansies.

Yes, there's always MILES gear...

An M4-style Armalite. TM or CA. Something decent out of the box that I can upgrade and whatnot down the road. I'm not incredibly picky, but I am big on MILSIM to a point. I'm okay with something looking plastic, so long as it does the job, but you won't find me toting insurgent weaponry when I'm in a Canadian or US style op.

Things havn't been getting better of the course of time. Saying nothing is wrong and all is as it always has been is nieve.

I turn 36 this year. Before I turn 40, you won't be able to buy a new airsoft gun in Canada, as there will be no more retailers and no importers. Used maybe, new no.

Ya, airsoft guns sold in Canada are going to go extinct as fast and as hard as the record growth of the polar bear population is.

As long as Canadian Tire stops selling clear-soft and those marksman bb repeaters we'll be okay.

I found this thread, its not too old, and was an interesting read. Although, it did raise the question to me as to why a member of the law enforcement didn't investigate the laws of importation before ordering the guns.

I am not supposed to play where I live i just go up to the local park and tell everyone to duck and cover. Its not like airsoft is violent..

It's the act of pointing things at each other that they consider violent, and the intent to eliminate others. The "Soccer Mom" crowd are generally "so far head up ass" that they might find staring contests worthy of banning from public schools, because if there is a chance one person loses, that could cause them to get upset and create yet another criminal that will turn to guns and drugs for a lifestyle.
