Link takes me to a forbidden page, but anyway, those STAR guns look nice, they're playing catch up with CA

attack-beaver February 9th, 2007 14:24

try using another internet of check out airsoft-news.

I'd disagree with that. STAR has done a lot of stuff that CA has never touched (L85 series for one) and also STAR guns are usually of higher quality. By higher quality I mean seemingly tighter quality control and higher reliability. STAR also uses good metals (steel and aluminum) in their guns when CA uses pot metal mostly. STAR has also been making new designs for mechboxes where CA just uses ver.2 and ver.3. CA did design a new mechbox for the M249 but as far as I know thats it for their own inventions (other than minor gun tweaks.) So STAR isn't playing catchup with CA, STAR is just expanding into armalites where CA is more well known, taking them on at their own game.

HellRanger February 9th, 2007 14:36

What other Internet?

thephenom February 9th, 2007 15:04

They don't allow hot linking. So you'll have to go http://airsoft-news.eu/news.php and click on the picture to see.

Yeah I meant they were catching up in the Armalite department. I agree with you in the fact that STAR is trying new things with mechboxes and stronger metals, but currently in our Canadian market CA is far more popular and accessible than STAR.

On a side note RPK-7 FTW!!!

Tan m203 on the SCAR...sweet *drool* ;)

R.A.T.M._JLD February 9th, 2007 16:02

Too bad the SCAR is supposed to use the EGLM!

I think I'll get a CA SCAR still since it'll most likely be cheaper than the STAR one. However, I won't mind getting the EGLM from STAR. :D

What color is the sky in your world? STAR guns have been breaking left, right, and centre and some before they even get to their owners. Steel and aluminum mean nothing when your gearbox isn't working.

lykurgus February 10th, 2007 11:12

im curious if anyone knows wether or not the CA SCAR will be able to take the tm/ ca m16 mags that i already have? im guesing it might, and if it does ill own buy one for sure.

I also head that about internals.
From what I heard, externally, the Star guns are excellent, but they have alot of issues when it comes to the mechanics of the guns.
Though, its expected as they have only very recently started making full AEGs.

Really? All I've heard about in reviews and threads on forums is dying motors. I hear a lot more complaints about CA mechboxes popping, pistons shattering, and piston heads breaking than anything about STAR guns going down.

thephenom February 19th, 2007 14:28

Just to add to the original post.

A CA M14, just another remake, but hey, I don't mind another full metal M14.

Good to see some other brands step up to the TM plate :)

This is exactly what airsoft needs.

I'm sure some would disagree and encourage manufacturers to with a more distictive route like King Arms and VFC. ;)

I personally don't mind more CA products since we get them at a better price than other manufacturers.

attack-beaver February 19th, 2007 16:15

CA is kinda doing both if you think about it.

there making the guns that have been made before and they're going in other directions si kinda getting the best of both worlds.

dead_aim February 19th, 2007 16:17

are those star M4 full metal??

Lakonian February 19th, 2007 16:40

what's this I hear about a working bolt-catch? I may grab one if that's the case.

CNC receiver aswell? I'm sold. http://www.starairsoft.com/coming/M4.htm

longshot February 19th, 2007 18:13

CA RPK-7 steel version will be on my wish list...I am 'almost' willing to sell off my fully upgarded TM AK to get to a RPK. It will become my personal SAW in many games to come I hope.

E-Dub February 19th, 2007 20:13

That SCAR is sick. ME WANT!!!!

Anything CA does is better than TM in my eyes just because of it's build. Let alone the internals are now just as good and often better more pre-"upgraded" parts. Then if that isn't good enough, they have more accesories and options (MP5) than TM. All for only a small percentage of the TM (over)price.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of CA. Not only are they releasing a lot of guns, but they are also pushing out a lot of accessories.

The heat they get is they just build on other people's products by improving them. I think SCAR-L and the RPK are the only guns they are original on, or at least first to market with. (Even the G3A3 and G3A4 on the original post is a remake improved version of the original TMs)

Check out the FAQ section of this board, specifically the newbie guide.

R.A.T.M._JLD March 19th, 2007 21:39

Looks like CA is realy trying to give TM a run for their money. From IWA 2007 show looks like CA is come out with M14 (Socom) and some GBBs (G17 & 1911)
