Drum Mags o.O

Just wondering what's the average cost of these, I'm looking for an M4 one in particular. Possibly an AK one as well.

BloodSport February 8th, 2007 10:20

You sometimes find them on here used for $100 to $150.

philstructo February 8th, 2007 10:23

.

100 - 150 man thats cheap

aZn_triXta07 February 8th, 2007 10:30

Oh damn, jus another thing I'm pondering about, how many people here actually use them? Cause most of us here do like to play with real-cap loadout.

Gryphon February 8th, 2007 10:57

In Manitoba you're only allowed to show up to with a drum mag at MAA games if you're sporting a bona fide LMG. There's another camp that uses hicaps and drums almost exclusively from what I hear, but I've never played with them and they're a small group.

aZn_triXta07 February 8th, 2007 10:59

Ahhh ohk, I just gotta figure out a way to use up over 10,000 BBs

BloodSport February 8th, 2007 11:06

mail them to me, I'll use them up for you and send you pictures back.

Zekk05 February 8th, 2007 11:10

Drum / box / CMags add a nice look to a gun, but like Gryphon said, unless you got a legitimate machine gun, its pretty lame to use one in a game.

When buying one, one thing youll want to get for sure is a box mag that is auto winding with trigger pull, or, the winding switch can be placed by the trigger. The basic Classic army box mag (big green one) has the winding switch on the bottom of the box mag, and its the most irritating thing to use, ever.

aZn_triXta07 February 8th, 2007 11:18

Haha I'd preferably like to use them myself :P Unless you got something real good planned for them.

So I guess that's a big no no for an M4/M16 haha ... thanks for the tip on the auto-winding

It can be awkward, as you have to reach around it to hold the foregrip of the gun.
I had to get rid of mine after 1 game. Milsimers got in a fritz over it. And yes, it went to bloodsport.

Dam sexy though

aZn_triXta07 February 8th, 2007 12:54

What gun did you use it for? Do you happen to have any pictures, or can BloodSport do that rofl

I have one for my G3-SG1. I like it because I didnt have to spend $50 a piece on the normal TM mags. And its last me almost an entire day.. but using one all depends on how you shoot..

Droc February 8th, 2007 13:42

or who you play with.

Zekk05 February 8th, 2007 13:47

field rules and other players are usually the key reasons as to why players cant/dont use drum mags. Its no fun when Everyone is a machine gunner.

Nevermind the guys that drop the mad cash on a machine gun, just to see everyone else with their 400$ stock guns with more rounds than they have themselves!

aZn_triXta07 February 8th, 2007 13:51

Rofl I'd just think it'd be hilarious to have, UNC has a drum mag for an MP5 ... what if you put that on an MP5K? rofl

Warmongers back in the day...
Apoc would carry 2-3 Cmags on him, I had one, shagg had one, Quantis tore on apart to make a G36 box mag...more I think.

thephenom February 8th, 2007 14:46

Do the BBs shake inside a drum mag like they do in a hi-cap?

Droc February 8th, 2007 14:47

yes, however, you can slightly insulate it so you only hear the BB on BB contact instead of the BBs against the side of the wall.
when it winds, it is loud...like an automatic BB loader

Gryphon February 8th, 2007 16:34

Not always. My MAG box for the M249 is very silent when winding.

I thought C-mags were originally designed for M-16 variants to help cut down on mag change time and to reduce reload time with loose ammo? So what's unrealistic about using them (besides their capacity?) Unless you're playing with realcap limits then what's the difference between running with a couple hicaps vs. a C-mag? I can usually play several skirmishes on a 450 hicap for my G36 or my M4 so I'm rarely changing mags in a game anyway. If you want realism you could throw 100bb's in your C-mag then it would be realistic. Although, to be 100% realistic you'd have to try to recreate the jamming problem that they've been reporting from what limited field use they've been getting. :)

Actually that last part wouldn't be a problem as my C-15 has been jamming regularly. :(

Droc February 8th, 2007 16:44

yah, well, lets face it, some people take a shit if you load 33 rounds into a star mag instead of 30.

DarkAlman February 8th, 2007 16:51

It all depends on the field limitations.

We had a guy here who showed up with an AK drum mag. After about 20 min of shooting he managed to fry his gearbox and ban himself from future ops.
