SystemA also makes their own line AEGs, SystemA PTW. The gearbox inside the PTW is different than the other "standard" TM gearboxes. If it's just a SystemA regular AEG gearbox, it's not a problem.

DarkAngel February 7th, 2007 18:48

how can i tell if its a PTW or a regular gearbox? ive never seen it b4 and i havent seen the systema gearbox yet

It is totally different than a version two -- you will definitely notice.

It is a two piece gearbox that has a neon colored interchangable 'tube' as the top half.

DarkAngel February 7th, 2007 19:13

cool, thanks ^^

mcguyver February 7th, 2007 20:00

You can't buy the gearbox from a PTW without contacting Systema first. They don't even sell a complete one, you'd have to build it from listed parts.

Any Systema gearbox you see for sale is NOT for a PTW.

Droc February 7th, 2007 20:21

keep in mind, that even reinforced gearboxes wont last forever. Systemas is a slight improvement over the TM version 2, but it still has the same problem and weak points. Its just a problem with the V2, no matter what brand.
Personally, I use the Hurricane reinforced mechbox.

DarkAngel February 7th, 2007 20:23

thanks again ^^ i understand now ^^

Unless you spring for the Pro Win gearboxes... ;)

And a new line of credit at your bank... I'll admit they look awesome, but who can justify that pricetag!

Scarecrow February 8th, 2007 13:28

You'd notice the difference simply by cost as well. The PTW's are designed for LE and Mil training and is their 'training' line. Hence they tend to be a lot more costly than your standard AEG.

I must say that the mechbox that Illusion built for Nocturnal's M16A4 in the DTP body is still running strong after 3 years with no new parts needed. That bugger is the energizer bunny, it just keeps going and going - best box I've ever owned...

I can, I have been slowly building a M4 off of parts I scronge..... I have a pretty much everything except the front end and mech box(yet as soon as my Pro-win arrives). I am only in to this M4 for $45.00 right now and once I get a front end and the Prowin I estimate I will be in to the completed gun for $450. It was no problem for me to justify the cost seeing I have been trying to build the gun (minus mechbox) for $150.00

But I can totally understand if you had bought a stock gun and then wanted to drop a prowin into it.
