Does this fall under ClearSoft or Restricted?

Hey guys, no this is not a noob posting here but this caught my eye and I was wondering if this would be okay for crossing the border.

If anyone has contact information for the Customs Office in Ontario can they forward it to me? I tried looking via Google and haven't come up with anything specific. Thanks.

EDIT: I found this URL for Ontario but I'm lost.

it'll probably get flagged due to the reciever, but don't 100% my words

Clear is fine. SIR sells similar things. But you never know, customs can be having a bad day and take it away...

Cheers,
Alex

I've asked a retailer who I know imports ClearSoft from Leapers and they say its okay, I asked another friend who said that as long as there's not too much metal in it ie. metal gearbox than it should be okay. I'd like to have some more opinions. I'm also debating whether or not if it would be okay to contact the CBSA and speak with a firearms technician.

Good luck finding anyone who has a clue.

I guess that means I should shoot for the moon and give it a shot o.O

Read paragraph 2. There's your answer.

aZn_triXta07 December 17th, 2006 01:54

Yeah I read that, and it says it's case-by-case basis so I'm thinking of giving that number a call.

mcguyver December 17th, 2006 01:56

Don't bother. Clear receiver is legal. They (CBSA and CFC) ruled on that about 2 years ago.

aZn_triXta07 December 17th, 2006 01:57

The upper receiver/carry handle is black though, but it's still a thumb's up?

EDIT: Btw at the bottom of that page it says updated Feb 2006

It can part waters apperently.

aZn_triXta07 December 19th, 2006 14:57

Just a thought, maybe I can have the gearbox and other metal parts shipped up in one parcel and the plastic parts in another. More safe? Need some input.

seekah December 19th, 2006 18:17

I know in the real steal world that the firearm is the bottom portion of the weapon, so if the bottom portion is clear, it must be fine

Gryphon December 19th, 2006 19:23

I concur. AR-15 lowers are the only controlled part; I've imported complete barrelled 5.56mm upper receivers before and customs never gave me a hard time about it.

aZn_triXta07 December 19th, 2006 20:56

So you're saying I could have a full metal armalite and have a clear lower part and it'll be okay!??

Jesseeast December 19th, 2006 21:03

Ya, Clear guns are allowed to be shipped across canadian boarders unless most of the gun is metal...

aZn_triXta07 December 19th, 2006 21:09

Only metal here is the sight and the gearbox/motor. Cmon I need more opinions lol

The upper is really just a (precise) tube with some other junk on it. The lower is what actually initiates the firing sequence.

aZn_triXta07 December 19th, 2006 21:12

You guys are serious right? Haha, who wants to do a pre-order!?!?

stareandwonder December 23rd, 2006 01:06

call the border

drjimmy April 29th, 2007 13:57

I was just at the border last week asking this very question. The customs guy at Fort Erie told me that if it is clear plastic like what you can get at Canadian Tire or Walmart then it shouldn't be a problem. Just be up front with them and dont try to sneak it in. I actually have my eye on the same gun and plan to import it around July.

He also told me some moron started an "incedent" at the border when he tried to cross with a replica stuck in his waist band. Gee I wonder why airsoft is in trouble with nobs like that running around.

Anyway. I might consider getting this as a funny plinker gun for my girlfriend just because of the price. (its way cheaper than that crosman garbage)

not to mention I am totally broke.

ArcticFox1984 May 6th, 2007 18:05

I think I might order a few myself lol.

Ghost_boo May 8th, 2007 23:19
