Low Profile SMG Chest Rig

I am looking for what the title says. BPG use to make a SMG chest rig but they have long stopped, I am looking for something like that. Low profile, holds maybe 6 mags or more. Not looking for a rifle rig like the BPG CCH which can hold Mp5 mags, rather I am looking specifically for a rig meant for SMG mags, if you guys can think of some, please post.

a + b

The best high quality, "low profile" option.

'Course, you could choose a different vest. I'm looking into the FAPC with cummerbund myself.

Thanks for your help! but I was looking for real tactical requipment, not replicas

A. is a vest made specifically for M4 mags, and airsoft for that matter
B. is just a mag pouch, I need a rig, not a mag pouch.

No offence mate, but associating this type of gear with 'best quality' is slightly humorous :-D

Cheesevillage September 1st, 2006 00:56

the 204 stuff is high quality. I've talked to guys who are happy with their 204 gear - myself included.

Concerning "a"? I have no reason to believe this vest would be of low quality. It's not made for M4 mags - it just comes with some shingles. The whole point of modular is that basicly any vest can be adapted to the wearers needs (within reason). Thus, removing the M4 pouches and adding the modular MP5 pouches would provide a barebones SMG setup.

I'll give you one thing though, I suggested a vest as opposed to a chest rig 8)

EDIT: This option is especially good considering the price to performance ratio

mcguyver September 1st, 2006 01:04

I picked up a base LBV-E and added my own pouches (M4) to get away from the CIRAS, Wasatch and chestrig fit. I also wanted low profile and low weight, lots of freedom of movement. It's also easy to put on and take off and it will be a big improvement for CQB events.

The LBV-E should be able to accomodate 12 SMG mags no problem as it will hold 8 single M4.

Just a thought if you're looking for a different fit.

yuxi,
you may not like this idea cause i know you love gear made for the task, not the ghettoness i like!

But a Bullet proof vest, Works very well. The kind that has two wraps around the belly, i beleive the seal vest.

I was able to carry about 4-6 Mp5 mags in it, and was able to draw them very quickly, by leaving a bit of the top out of the band.
Very low profile, and i liked it for those games where it was too hot to wear anything, but needed to carry at least 7 mags onto the field with me.

CINDERWOLF- September 1st, 2006 12:07

I used to use a blackhwk chest harness like this Eagle versionhttp://www.eagleindustries.com/ProdDisp.asp?PartNoID=42 but with MP5 pouches, same build but has 2 times as many pouches. all of eagles vests in the online store have an area where it saws "firearm". so iam assuming they will have no problems making you an MP5 version. think your best option would be to get something custom made by one of the big manufacturers.

How much does one run? I think the expired kevlar ones are cheaper right?

Drake September 1st, 2006 14:18

Wasn't gonna mention it since it isn't really what Yuxi was asking for, but since everyone is going off on tangents...

Eagle does make a shoulder-slung low-profile MP5 mag carrier
http://www.eagleindustries.com/ProdD...p?PartNoID=248

Otherwise I'd be looking at a very compact MOLLE chest rig, or something like the BW Zip Rack... pop on two 3xMP5 shingles and whatever else.

Kwokwai September 1st, 2006 14:24

What about the SORD military free fall rig? Only $43 AUD plus s&h. 8 PALS channels, 3 rows. Would be good for 2 x triple pouches and a side-arm holster or 3 x triples for a total of 9 M4 mags.

http://www.sordaustralia.com/mffrig.htm

EDIT: on sale right now for $35 AUD

Drake September 1st, 2006 14:28

Yeah thats exactly the type of chest rig I had in mind. Yuxi wanted SMG mags, so I guess he'd be looking at something like BHI strike mp5 pouches.

Chingyul September 1st, 2006 20:56

They also have their own mp5 pouches:
http://www.sordaustralia.com/mp5x3.htm

They're on sale too for $22 AUD

Looks like a pretty interesting setup.

Kwokwai September 2nd, 2006 14:21

SORD stuff is top-notch. I've got two of the SMG triples along with other bits & pieces. Thinking about buying some more...

Chingyul September 2nd, 2006 21:53

Those prices look good too.
Anyone want to try to get a group order together to save on the shipping fee?

KwokwaiWu: Do you think this would work well for a light MP5 set up?

The Sord MFF with 2 of their SMG triples? I'l also have a drop leg triple too.

rooks September 3rd, 2006 00:12

...

Don't for get the SORD Subgun Stack ... only $30 AUD.

Kwokwai September 3rd, 2006 13:00

I'd be up for a group order for one of the MFF rigs and a couple of subgun stacks. The close protection rig is pretty cool too if you want a tight/close to body config.

shinjit noir September 3rd, 2006 19:50

Hmmm,

there seems to be a huge hole in the market for preset Mp5's rigs... and I think an entire rig would be a tad bulky. Have you considered an HSGI Shoulder Modular Harness setup Yuxi? It'd be fairly low profile, would be able to hold up to 8 MP5 Mags and maintain your high prestige in High End Gear. ;)

Yuxi September 3rd, 2006 20:56

Thanks alot for the help everyone!

Hey Shinjit, honestly, I was looking for a simple solution to the problem. BHI use to make those 223 rigs in 9mm, but they have since discontinued it, gah, I am looking for something like that basically.

Kokanee September 3rd, 2006 21:33

Yuxi, a bunch of us in Ottawa run SORD gear, particularly their hardface jacket, and it's impossible to say enough good things about their products. I think you'll be happy with the free fall rig. The dollar is particularly strong right now against the AUS dollar too.

Drake September 4th, 2006 00:55

If anyone gets a group order for the SORD MFF, I'd get one. That price works out to like C$35+shipping. Sweet deal.

AFAIK, the HSGI shoulder thingie is retardedly hard to get a hold of.

DuffMan September 4th, 2006 14:32

I wouldnt mind getting one or two of those subgun stacks either.

It's 35 AUD, so it's about $30 CDN.

I sent them an email asking for a rough shipping quote. I'll let you know when I get a reply. I also have a cousin in melbourne and maybe can pick up and forward for less.

Either way, I'll write back when I have more information.

Kwokwai September 4th, 2006 16:01

Hmm... birthday coming up... I think I hear a SORD hardface jacket calling me...

Chingyul September 4th, 2006 16:08

I'm tempted to pick one up to. Always wanted a softshell....

Too bad the Tan isn't at the lower price too.

Even sweeter, said AUD$43 on the linked page, but I did find the AUD$35 on the sales page... definitely wanna get in on that.

Metternich September 4th, 2006 21:44

Not sure if this is what you want Yuxi, but I'll post it anyway just in case....
http://www.blackhawk.com/product_det...uct_id=2099&d=

Personally I use surplus mag pouches for the Sterling SMG and attach them to a pistol belt.

I actually bought a Tan Hardface from SORD 2 weeks ago, and they charged me the lower price ... But I have purchased a fair bit of gear from them (and I'm about too again this week aswell), so maybe they were just being nice.

Chingyul September 5th, 2006 02:54

Hmm, I wonder if we can get the lower price if I get this group order going.

How do you guys like the Hardface?
What temperatures is it good for?

rooks September 5th, 2006 15:04

Well I've only had mine for a couple of weeks, but I was wearing it whilst walking to work @ 3:30 Am the other day .. it was about 1 Degee Celcius, and pretty windy, and I didn't notice a thing. And the next morning it was pissing down rain ... same result :)

Chingyul September 5th, 2006 20:25

Yeah, I figure it's good for colder weather, but I'm wondering if it's comfortable up to 10deg C.
Just want to make sure it's versatile.

Kwokwai September 13th, 2006 15:19

Anybody for a SORD bulk order then?

Chingyul September 13th, 2006 19:55

I've been trying to get one together, and I've sent a few emails, but no replies. Tried the forum today, so I'm expecting a reply soon since they're just waking up over there.

I would like to run this order soon too.

Yeoman September 14th, 2006 19:49

hey yuxi; did you look into a tag rifleman chest rig? four mags pockets that hold two each, then the two side pouches that are basically admin pouches.
my room mate is using one right now and loves it.
is that the kind of thing you're looking for?
Greg

I'm in for a few items so let me know when it's a go.

Maelstrom September 14th, 2006 22:07
