TM M4A1 BOYS

Hey, I just recently aquired a M4 Boys used. It still works but,I have to smack the battery assembly and angle it just right to get it to work. Im preatty shure its the battery assembly  but i (preatty much) opened it up (its a bitch to do so) , it takes 6 AA, and i cant open the main body of the gun.

Pliskin August 16th, 2006 13:39

I'm not even gonna touch this one...
Greylocks, feel free.

Shrike August 16th, 2006 15:15

LOL is there a question in there somewhere?

I saw a boys M4 once, not 100% sure but Can. tire guns may be better....

^Hyperion^ August 16th, 2006 15:18

maybe he wants to know hot to open the main body

Amazing KG3 August 16th, 2006 15:36

the mp5 boys makes an awesome sidearm.

Greylocks August 16th, 2006 18:25

Wait 4 years until you can buy the better guns legally. Save your cash until then.

If this makes no sense to you, read the Information section.

veedoor August 16th, 2006 18:31

the fastest way to open any of that gun is with a big rock just hit it util you see the inside

Manaconda August 16th, 2006 18:45

try ordering some of those xray glasses you find in the comic books. You should be able to see the inside of it then.

OK..so whats your question?...maybe you can fix-up your spelling and wait four more years. in the meantime just go play with your nerf gun. it'll do you proud on the field :salute:

jackel August 27th, 2006 17:56

look I am sick of the sarcasm that happens on this forum when somone says anything remotely against your airsoft belief. If you want to be known as a cranky old fart Geylocks, You made it perfectly clear! I was told once if you don't have anything productive to say then you just should not say anything at all. It is a good bit of advise you may use it or not. I have had the pleasure of fixing the TM boys M4 and I know exactly what is causing the prob. What you have to do is replace the switch (the one provided shorts out really quick). On one final note it has been proven that you have more success catching a fly with honey rather then vinegar.

Jackel out

Id like to see that report on the Honey/vinegar bonding therom. Is it the harvard draft or the Yale Doctrine? Sarcasim smells like condoms and jello in my opinion. If its hurtful theres a bit of jagermeister too.

School of life written in 200 bc.

You asked i answered.

Amazing KG3 August 27th, 2006 18:59

thanks! I didnt expect an answer!

Greylocks August 28th, 2006 06:12

Jackel, feel free to spoonfeed all you want. He still has to wait a few years to buy anything and he still CAN inform himself in the meantime.

Your 23 years of merely being alive dont even qualify you to bitch.

Amazing KG3 August 28th, 2006 17:49

Another KO by Greylocks! whats your record big rig?

Guardian August 28th, 2006 18:13

Unhelpful comments aside - I am having a similar issue with my TM boy’s gun. Since this is “doctors corner” I would appreciate some additional info about this problem which it appears Jackel has already resolved. If folks would refrain from shitting in the thread (if that’s OK with Greylocks of course) we could exchange helpful information in this appropriate forum.

Amazing KG3 August 28th, 2006 18:29

yeah ill put my gloves down, what kind of switch is it, i know theres a guy in the parts classifieds supplying any TM part you need, maybe give him a shout.

shadow1911 August 28th, 2006 18:40

All shit disturbing aside now, good.

What dose this switch look like?

ps. Any one have a picture of the internals of the boys guns. (what ever one) That could give a size measurement?

Amazing KG3 August 28th, 2006 19:03

you got a manual? Or a part number?

jackel August 28th, 2006 19:33

Greylocks, If you have to prove yourself on every debate by pushing forward your age then that indicates to me that mabye you should (in all your vast wisdom) act the age that you are pushing. Mabye instead of always trying to put someone down you should use your wisdom to help. I also do not believe in spoon feeding, but in all honesty if you are at least half the age that you have made yourself out to be you should look forward to being spoon fed by the same freindly fellow that will be changing your Depends. On a friendly final note don't take offence to the fact that I don't swoon over your agressive attack of children and "simple minded" folk like many other members of the forum do. PUTZ

Greylocks August 28th, 2006 19:37

If he formulated a question that can be answered, maybe there would be an answer. How about YOU try it, jackel?

What exactly is wrong with that Boys gun? Is it the batteries that are too weak? Are they installed into the gun incorrectly? Are the contacts dirty or corroded? Is the wiring still sound? Are the plastic gears toast?

Go ahead, try to diagnose it. I dont read minds, maybe you do? I want to see what you or anyone comes up with when there is no information to start from.

jackel August 28th, 2006 19:49

to open up the body of the gun you must first take off the battery assembly and then unscrew the reciever collar. The gun has a smoky/clear mechbox and on the side there is a switch ( same sort of assembly as an AEG) it is a simple switch that can be replaced with one from radio shack ( THE SOUCE hahah). Would go into it more but at work right now on a break and in dire need of a smoke

shadow1911 August 28th, 2006 19:55

Jackel do you know the measurements of the boys gearboxes?

jackel August 28th, 2006 19:58

not exactly sure, but I believe everything is scaled down by 1/3

Amazing KG3 August 28th, 2006 20:23

Im not sure if its 1/3 exactly, i think its 70%. Where you actually owned one though, im not gonna contest the statment. And im with you jackal, the whole greylocks issue is getting a little "old".

m4 boys

the body comes apart easily its just a lot of hidden screws but once you take your time it comes apart nicely

Thanks Jackel. The gun has been great but a short while ago I had a problem which forced me to replace the small spring which retains the plastic arm engaging that switch. I was lucky enough in that case to find the broken spring in the body which led me right to that particular problem. I had no need to open the mechbox but I suspected that the switch I could see was just the standard radio shack variety.
Recently my son complained that his gun stopped shooting again. I checked the batteries but they were good. I metered it and there appeared to be no current draw at all. The act of removing and reinstalling the batteries got it going again so I suspect a loose contact. The battery contact had shifted. Fixed - reinstalled properly and it's good again.
Similar experience to ProPilot maybe. Is this similar to the issue which forced you to replace the switch? Was it a hard fault or intermittent?

I found this link helpful. It may be of interest to anyone else working on there “Boys” gun. Some good stuff in it...

http://pageproducer.arczip.com/daedalus03/m4a1boys.html

edit: the takedown description is not quite correct in that you do not have to cut the wires to the battery connectors. (Read it and you will see what I mean) You can simply slide the connectors from the battery housing.

Amazing KG3 August 28th, 2006 23:33

just a quick question, how do you find the AEG overall? Im considiring buying some just to play around, but I hear there plauged with problems.

This gun has worked very well. You do have to take care to use only high quality BB’s (the crapy tire BB’s wont do) It’s not for gaming, but is surprisingly fun for shooting tin cans from 30 - 40 feet away. No danger of denting the walls or kids getting hurt at 180 FPS with 0.12s.

This is only the second issue I have had with it in as many years.

(I scratch built the M203, it is cosmetic only)

jackel August 29th, 2006 15:54

I also upgraded the one that I had owned by adding a small spacer behind the main piston spring give it a noticable fps increase. Keep in mind doing so will drasticly limit the life of the gun and should only be preformed by somebody who is familiar with the internals.

BBS August 29th, 2006 16:08

i apologize for my sarcasm i made earlier in the thread :smack: just cranky that time....

anyways heres an useful link for your TM m4a1 boys. an extensive review and an upgrade guide

Assault Pioneer November 9th, 2006 11:01

The first airsoft gun I got was an m4boys and it works great (bought new) but its very fragile and the barrel gets broken easily so i reinforced it andthe mag will decide to take a dump after 2months of using it but other than that its a good cqb or backyard battle weapon its like canadas lpeg (like the cheap guns in the u.s) now its my bros and hes pretty good with it.
