age verification

im fairly new to this sport and have just been introduced a few weeks ago. last night was my first game ever and i am in love. i am 16 year old and would like to think im fairly mature for my age. ive been a big gun lover all my life. i have a box full of fake plastic guns and cap guns. and always watched those good war movies. so my question is. if i went and met someone to get verified can i get my account verified if i were with my mom. because i know if i wanted to order somthing off the site i have to be age verified. so if anyone can help me out id appreciate it. and yes ive already read all the newb guides,FAQ's etc

swatt13 July 21st, 2006 19:29

enter greylocks, stage left

that is a good question.... seeing as you have to be 18 to buy, but you are buying with your parents approval and forseeabley their money it seems as thoough it might be ok, honestley i cant see it being approved without causing an uproar as this area isnt usually open to interpretation, nor discussion you would most definatley need to talk to Lisa about this, thats her department.

Savage Eh July 21st, 2006 19:32

ok thanks...btw im using my money for guns

thephenom July 21st, 2006 19:45

Your mom can get verified, but not you.

As much as you are mature, there's a legal side to the whole age verified thing.

Savage Eh July 21st, 2006 20:00

so what i gotta make an account for my mom who is the most computer illiterite person in the world in order to purchase a gun from asc armoury or i can just say this is my moms account and use it my self to be able to purchase guns.

with her permission of coarse

It doesn't matter if you're as mature and wise as someone such as Greylocks, you are 16, you cannot have YOUR account verified, no matter hows strange it seems. You have admitted to being 16, it's too late now. The site is strict about the rules, and classifieds are 18+ not "Mature 16 year olds and +"

Don't argue, it won't get you anywhere.

FOX_111 July 21st, 2006 20:13

I don't verify parents for them to buy their kids a gun.
The only exception would be if the parent play with the kid.

I think this opinion is shared with all the age verifiers.

Savage Eh July 21st, 2006 20:33

why wouldnt u verify someones parent if they dont play.. my dads pretty old and just had a heart attack and my moms 45 and yea right shes gonna go play with guns. how else am i suposed to get a gun? from what i see it is pretty hard to get a gun. but it should be rediculously hard to get a gun especially with parents concent, a designated play area, and about 20 people that ur going to go play airsoft once a week. im not trying to argue or anything with the verification at all. i think its good to have and i understand why its there. but i think its rediculous to not verify someones parent so they can get there kid a gun to play airsoft. i am really wanting to get more serious with airsoft. make a team and what not. but yea i guess ill pm this lisa person and see what she has to say

Lakonian July 21st, 2006 21:12

It's the rule. Can't change it. so fark off.

No, you don't understand why it's there.

The LAW says you have to be 18 to acquire a gun, not us, the LAWWWWWW. We are simply enforcing that rule.

I'll use the same analogy I use many times before, you have to be 19 to smoke, you can't get an adult to buy those for you to use, can you? (Well, you can, the adult will just get in shit) Airsoft rules are similar.

As much as you're enthusiastic about getting into airsoft, you have to be of age to acquire an airsoft, most field require you to be over 18 to play (due to insurance issue mosly), while some will let you play with parental supervision or consent.

Meanwhile, you can learn all about airsoft, upgrades, accessories, maintenance, stuff like that.

If you continue your whine, it only shows us you're not mature as you say you are.

Bush Master July 22nd, 2006 12:56

well, I talked to my rep on wed the 12 and he said it would take a week, its been 10 days! just wondering how long its really supposed to take

surebet July 23rd, 2006 01:17

Trust me, it's worth the wait. Don't forget that these guys aren't paid, and do have real lives... mostly.

You can post here and contact Lisa on it, but yeah, these nice people aren't being paid and have jobs, life and the whole nine yards, so it may take a little longer.

Gryphon July 23rd, 2006 09:38

This kid tried contacting me by MSN for verification but decided to play games and refused to tell me who he was. Blockage ensued quickly.

I won't verify anyone's parents if they're underage, let alone someone who's banned twice from ASC. I'm sure Valk and Skruface won't either. Good luck with that, Adam.

ValkXB70 July 23rd, 2006 15:11

Nope, won't be the first time I have refused to verify someones parents... (Elite_Navy_Seal aka Bordush **do a search both lead to funny threads**)

lilrush July 23rd, 2006 15:20

If I were you i would just get ur parents verified and send them to get the guns. Have airsoft retailers deal directly with your parents. Then have them handed to you and your in.

WTF are you talking about? Another kid trying to bypass the system? Just stop typing your retarded advices. Do you ask your parents to buy you alcohol and cigarettes too, and have them hand it to you?

That way won't get him in or you in, bypassing the system we have here only pisses the people off more, and you'll no longer be welcome to the community.

ValkXB70 July 23rd, 2006 17:22

lilrush: Did you miss the part where we said we wouldn't verify his parents?

That, kid, is illegal.

Moderate July 23rd, 2006 19:16

But wouldn't this be legal if parents were supervising at all times, and they were the sole owners of the gun?

(Just a question not a suggestion.)

Greylocks July 23rd, 2006 19:35

Do you honestly think he's going to tell the rules to his parents? Or let them read the related laws?
One of the worst problems is uninformed parents. And I think that's why age-verifiers refuse to verify parents.
How many parents have you seen on any site with their teens?

thats why I suggested in the age verifiers area that we setup a real name/email age blacklist...so they cant just drive two towns over to get verified.

You guys might not have noticed, but I think Lisa has a few things more important at the moment to deal with. Give it time, at the beginning there were people who waited for months, 10 days is nothing.

I doubt he would. But my question goes unanswered, what if I'm not specifically talking about him? What if I'm referring to minors is general?

Then again, the FAQ says yes to my question. So nevermind

ValkXB70 July 23rd, 2006 20:34

As one of the Age reps, here's my stance on the whole "Verifying parents" topic. If the parent is a participant in games. Either at our local indoor facility, or one of our outdoor venues then I will verify them. However if all they do is sign a waiver form and drop jr. off with 50 bucks and a promise to return in a few hours, then no way will I. I like many people do not believe airsoft games are babysitting services.

BloodSport July 23rd, 2006 20:36

moderatesniper, we do not verify parents to allow their kids to get guns that is not the point of age verification. If the parents are not active members or players they are not verified. And by active we mean they actually show up at games, play, get involved. Not just sit around, and let their kids do what ever.

I dont know about you but when I go to a game, I go to play. I do not go to babysit some other persons kids. If I was interested in doing that I'd still be playing paintball. I think this goes for 95%+ of the actual players on here, and probably 80%+ of the chairsofters on here.

Yes this makes it a pain in the ass to the few and I do mean few minors who are mature enough to play, but you know what, if they truly are mature enough then they will realize and honour the reason behind these rules, and wait like everyone else. If not, then like I said I'm not here to babysit nor is anyone else.

You have several age verifiers already replying in this thread and stating the same thing. Going around them to a mod/admin will not help, we all follow the same rules for age verification.
So in summary:

NO VERIFICATION FOR PARENTS WHO ARE NOT ACTIVE PLAYERS/MEMBERS THEMSELVES. <------ see the period? good.

Oh and thread locked.
