CR123As - where to buy, preferably bulk

Hey does anybody know any good places, preferably online, to buy CR123As in bulk? My girlfriend got a Surefire for work, and doesnt wanna pay the price to buy 2 at a time. Thanks.

Brakoo May 27th, 2006 00:16

E-bay is your best solution, I don't know of any store that sell those in bulks but if you look it up on ebay you'll find a lot of them.

Kutter May 27th, 2006 00:41

If you don't mind shipping from the states you can try the "Titanium" brand CR123A batteries which go for only $1US each:

FieroGT May 27th, 2006 03:15

I was hoping to avoid buying from the states, which is why I posted here. However the best deals seem to come from US sites, and the Canadian dollar is only getting better. :-) Looks like my route, thanks guys.

aZn_triXta07 May 27th, 2006 13:36

Just watchout for custom fees ... unless you plan to ship as a gift ;) lol

Spitfire May 27th, 2006 14:46

www.wgcshop.com... its cheap there

krusstygun May 27th, 2006 15:04

surebet August 7th, 2007 04:28

Bump!

Best I found was about 1.25$ to my door on eBay, any Canadian sellers with comparable prices?

Karnage August 7th, 2007 08:09

how many are you looking for?

Scarecrow August 7th, 2007 08:29

I did this research before... eBay is your best option. I've looked locally (Toronto) in places like Battery World and industrial wholesalers and for some reason they were always much more expensive.

Also with the CR123's on eBay, I found a guy there who was reconditioning them and the batteries were great. He was selling them in lots. I'll see if I can still find him...

EDIT: He doesn't seem to there anymore, but his email was lawclerk7777@justice.com. He might still be doing them. He was located in BC as I recall.

CDN_Stalker August 7th, 2007 09:39

I get mine (Sanyo) from DigiKey, I think they are $28 per 10 pack or something (not the cheapest, but hey, for me, they are free!). Best part of it is I order them through my work, mainly because I use my taclight at work, so I can justify the purchases. Lol

surebet August 7th, 2007 12:56

Ideally I would be looking for around 25 to 50 per batch, nothing too big.

I've heard many players tell me they pay 1$ locally for theirs, even if I can't get them that cheap what type of store usually stocks them for less?

Cheapest I found right now is about 7$ per unit.

Phalanix August 7th, 2007 13:49

Aren't these CR123a batteries Lithium Ion batteries? Can anyone explain why rechargeable CR123a batteries are so scarce? I've only seen them once, but was packaged with a flash light (cost around $250).

surebet August 7th, 2007 14:03

Over the counter rechargeables are full of fail. I bought a pair to try out in my Surefire G2, hoping to save. Cost me about 35$.

They power my low power bulb for all of 3 minutes (usual run time60 minutes) and barely make my high power bulb burp (usual run time 20 minutes).

I don't know the science behind this, but I'm guessing high discharge applications rape rechargeables.

surebet August 7th, 2007 14:05

Quick addition, lowest I found on eBay per unit are these:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/50-CR123A-Lithium...QQcmdZViewItem

About 1.10$ per unit to my door.

Wulfey August 7th, 2007 17:06

Just talked to my guy at Corporate Security Supply in Winnipeg. He sells Streamlight brand CR123 batteries (top quality) for $2.92 each. 12 Pack is $35.00.

Here's the contact info...

Haven't ordered from them yet, but I plan too. They are located in Mississauga, and are $2.99 per unit. These ones are the actual Surefire Brand too.

Considering you can get them from Surefire directly for 1.75$USD...

Krookedatmosphere August 7th, 2007 20:01

EBAY

About 1.10$ per unit to my door.

I'm sure I can find them for less, especially since I'm looking to buy a few hundred.

wow what are you trying to do? Run your house on C123a's? lol

surebet August 7th, 2007 22:06

Hehe, no, not yet.

I just use flashlights a lot, and I'd use them even more if I had a cheaper power source. I'm also getting a M3T replica from Huang, which will probably eat even more batteries than my lowly G2.

I tried rechargeables, not impressed.

Ronan August 7th, 2007 22:12

Hope this helps:

Good price, but still over the ebay prices I found. These come out to about 1.60$ to my door.

Alright, ebay it is!

DuffMan August 8th, 2007 16:52

Hey surebet, if you want to split an order, I'm up for it.

surebet August 8th, 2007 18:16

Right now, ebay has the perfect model IMHO. 50 batteries for about 55$ to your door just can't be beat!

I'll look into making a group order of high grade batteries down the line, as I'd love to pay a bit more and be able to impress girls with my pimpin' Surefire cells...

bundun August 8th, 2007 18:30

I recommend against buying from batteryspace. Prices are cheap and the quality is good, but they insist on shipping UPS to Canada. UPS rapes you with brokerage fees. I just bought 20 CR123As for $19.75, shipping was $10, and then I still had to pay $22 in broker fees. Ridiculous. I hate UPS.

Didn't know that. Broker fee wow...

surebet August 8th, 2007 20:59

Yeah, UPS is the devil's whore. Pay extra for another courrier if you have to.

OrBy August 20th, 2007 19:17

For small orders you can get them for $1.50 a cell from http://www.batterystation.com/cr123a.htm (house brand)
They will ship via USPS unless the order gets too big.

As for the rechargeable 123's - DO RESEARCH.
a. most of them are 3.7v NOT 3.0v (means they will break your shit if it cannot take the extra voltage)
b. unprotected cells will explode if they are over discharged or over charged (if you don't know what that means or know how to prevent it - don't use em)
c. protected rechargeable 123's have electronics in them that prevent over current situations and shut the cell down - this does not work well with high current lamps like p60's or p61's - If a cell shuts down - you have to put it back on the charger to reset it. If this is the case with your light - you will have to risk using unprotected cells or just don't bother.

As for getting them - look to the following links:

I pm'd him 2-3 weeks ago regarding alternative payment methods, but he didn't reply. So, I assumed they don't, or they didn't deem a 18$(gun tape) purchase important enough to reply to :p

Either way, I ordered my stuff from them, and still have a few more things to get from them.

DuffMan August 21st, 2007 03:36

Hmmm...I might too, want to group it together?
