Airsoft in Markham

Hi all,
Travelling in Markham this week. Any shops of note in the region you guys know of that I should check out?
That includes guns / gear / facilities / etc.

Thanks.

Affliction May 24th, 2006 08:45

There is 6mm Airsoft @ Century Plaza (Which is not reccomended) and then there is Kuramae (Which is highly UNreccomended) @ Pacific Mall.

I do reccomend you check out Pacific Mall though. It offers a unique experience unlike common Western malls (Be sure to check out the second floor for lots of yummy foods).

dent May 24th, 2006 09:45

Not recommended and highly UNreccomended, thats high praise indeed.
They still have gear to handle I hope, even if I am just tire-kicking for a web-retailer order.

Identity May 24th, 2006 12:10

What exactly are you looking for? I had some problems with 6mm recently... Not sure if my AEG was tampered with my the store owner and sold it to me as a new gun...

Greylocks May 24th, 2006 12:13

The store at Pacific Mall is not only bad, it is to be completely avoided. Period.
6mm has a spotty reputation. If he's there, good luck.

In a nutshell, no stores to look at. If you want gear, find army surplus stores.

Pacific Mall, as said, is quite the experience. I describe it to my friends like this; you just stepped into Hong Kong or some place else in Asia. It's a culture shock, but a lot of fun.

6mm is located at Warden And Steeles.

Agreed. Pacific mall is a VERY fun place to shop if you havent been there often.

Downtown Toronto has alot of fun places to go to.

Like Yonge Street. Bloor.

Im sure you can find alot of army surplus stores there.

Greylocks May 24th, 2006 17:17

I know he's not in Pacific Mall, should have made that clearer.
It's still a fun place to go, and amazing deals if you like electronics, car stuff, fashion, anime, etc.

Debber May 24th, 2006 19:42

What's wrong with 6mm.
I think the owner is a great guy and have given him business many times over. He always seems to get the things I need and offers them at decent prices.
I've had no quams with 6mm at all.

Jar|-|ead May 24th, 2006 20:05

yeah wait till you ask him to FIX your gun...then you'll have problems...i mean i dont mind the prices...

Debber May 24th, 2006 20:07

hA!
Haven't done that yet!
I think I'll go see Illusion for that!
Plus Scarborough is that much closer.
Than again...I'm hoping I don;t have to get my AEG serviced...but alas...the time will come and I'm already thinking about internal upgrades... :-(

Greylocks May 24th, 2006 20:39

I did not call 6mm dishonest. Read again. I said his record is spotty according to many here.
And his attendance at his store is equally spotty from personal experience.

If you want service, get in touch with one of the many Gun Doctors.

The previous recommendation still stands. If things change, I'll be a happy camper myself.

Berkut May 24th, 2006 20:42

If you are in Toronto, check out ASC Armoury... hehe, I hear it is "most amaizing*"

They have a walk-in store like he requested?

Pacific Mall is bad for anyone who isn't Asian, when I say Asian I mean Chinese. They will try to rip you off if your not of the same blood, yeah it's racist but that's my people for you.

Don't listen to this guy, he has no idea what he's talking about.

As long as you aren't buying anything illegal (ie. no price tags, cash only) at Pacific Mall, there's nothing to worry about.

I agree with VM and have lived in the Markham area directly adjacent to Pacific Mall / Market Village for almost 20 years. The previous comment generalizing that Chinese will rip you off since they are racist is a GROSS misstatement and should not be taken seriously. Go find out for yourself and I'm sure you'll find it an interesting visit.

For the record, I am of Chinese descent and I don't appreciate broad based attacks against people of my ethnicity nor slander against anybody else's.

Okay I was wrong, they rip EVERYONE off, you just don't get ripped off as much if you're asian. But it's not all the time, friend of mine got a TM G26 for $220 which is the same as if you were to do a pre-order. And in another unfortunate case I met somebody who spent $300 on an EBB!!

EDIT - Didn't mean to be racist but I am Chinese as well and have been living in Toronto my whole life so I really don't get your point. I'm not saying you shouldn't check out Pacific Mall cause of that it's just what I think, if it has offended you than I am sorry.

Bullshit.
I had a ball there as always when I've gone, I'm definitely a white boy. So are my friends and girlfriend who had a great time. We were well treated.

Like everywhere, some folks will try to rip you off. On your part, shop wisely.
Make one walk through the entire mall, note places that sell what you want, compare prices First.
Then shop. Do some polite bargaining (it's fun and part of the 'game').

I found (except for Kuramae) every shop owner to be polite and helpful. Maybe it's the grey hair.

I think they caught wind of ur internet reputation and treated you with respect due to fear of flaming : P

LOL Kuramae people are OK on the phone but real bitches to deal with in real life.

If looking for gear and some army surplus in Markham also check out Creative Outdoors (Hwy 7 & West Beaver Creek / Leslie).

Try that one.

Also here's their site: http://www.creativeonline.ca

Most of their stuff isn't on the site though, nice guy to deal with too - Ive bought plenty of stuff there.

skewed May 25th, 2006 11:58

For surplus in the downtown Toronto area, I usually hit up Central Surplus on Yonge St. It's a block North of Wellesley on the West side of the street. Big yellow sign that says "CENTRAL SURPLUS". Hard to miss. ^_^

Oh, I should mention that they like to make you pay cash. Every time I go in, one of the salesmen will carry my purchases to the counter and say, "This stuff, I'll give you $20 off if you pay in cash." I tried opting for debit once, and I think I hurt his feelings. ^_^;;

Mantelope May 25th, 2006 12:01

If you're bringing a girl along, get her to buy your stuff at Central Surplus. I think they have a pretty serious breast discount.

aZn_triXta07 May 25th, 2006 15:07

Central Surplus. Bring a girl and come after 4pm, the owners Nick and his wife leave the store to the other folks and they are alot nicer.

Thanks all!
A most productive adventure about TO.
Loads of good info. I have already spent way too much, and I will be back in town next week to do it all over again.
Maybe even try and get into a game, if there is any evening activity to be had in the Markham region. (Cab downtown cost is insane..)

Conscript May 25th, 2006 19:35

Creative outdoors is the only place to go in Markham in my opinion. Good gear and good prices.

dent May 25th, 2006 20:52

Just got back from Creative Outdoors a little while ago, wearing my new boonie hat as I type this up. Also snagged an ammo crate. I was hoping to find a holster, but I think I will be opting for the guarder rig from ascarmoury.

Pyro June 29th, 2006 18:25

I was at Creative Outdoors today buying a set of Desert Marpat's for Operation QuickPass II, and they had a TM XM 177E2, Mp5A5, PSG-1, and G3 SG1 in stock for those of you who are interested.

yanhchan June 29th, 2006 18:56

Creative is great exept when they don't have something and make up B/S about items.
I remember the time I asked for STAR magazines, and he was all defensive about not having stock by giving me the "oh its very bad quality, it cause many jams...." I'm like OK...why don't you just say you don't have them. I like their prices on BBs, and they're extremly helpful when you don't know what you want, never give a price range.

amano999 June 29th, 2006 18:56

I thought Creative didn't carry the guns. Everytime I go they only have mags.

I recenly bought a MP5 A4 from Kurame and the gun is fine, but I do agree that thier prices are super high. They tried to charge me tax on the MP5 which was already $450. After I spoke to the other guy he gave it to me with out the tax. For those of you who don't know when you pay cash at Pacific 99 percent of the time you should not be paying tax.

What the fuck? Why would you do that?

You're financially supporting a retailer that has been known to
>Overcharge
>Sell used or damaged guns as new
>Sell to minors

amano999 June 30th, 2006 09:39

I ordered from creative before I found out about airsoftcanada and ASC armoury. I have since purchased a M4 and Hip Cap 3.8 from miles and don't plan on buying from Kurame shop anymore. They are too expensive and thier prices seem to change from day to day.

Sgt_Lynch June 30th, 2006 13:11

Pacific Mall has always been a bad place for Airsoft.

Anyone remember AMC? OMFG, those guys would go play games with their stock, then put them back in the box and sell them as new. Nevermind a PSG costing $1200 lol.

Ed at Creative is cool. He Bull Shits a little, but heh... who doesn't? Just don't step in the shit and you'll be fine. ;)

amano999 June 30th, 2006 13:32

Sorry I didn't mean Creative I was complaining about Kurumae.

Yeah I do remember that other shop in Pacific they screwed me too. I bought a P226 from then right when I turned 18 and they charged me $450 for the thing. My butt still hurts from how bad I got screwed.

BKHKMP5 June 30th, 2006 20:15

I've been going to creative for years. They don't sell guns at all. They used to have lots before customs made it a pain in the ass to import them here. They do sell things like batteries, BB's and mags. Their prices are OK, not great. The mag price is decent, but their battery prices are way overpriced. $80 for a 8.4V small battery. BTW, that's where I bought the G&G MP5 metal body kit. I've asked if he would order other parts and acessories for guns other than what he has, he refused. He said it's too much of a hassle importing parts and dealing with customs. So basically he told me that he's just selling off what he has left in stock, and that's it. Don't even bother asking him anything about airsoft, because he knows absolutely NOTHING! He had no clue what I was going on about when I asked him gearbox parts and motors. I bought a 5.56mm dud bullet from him one time and said to him, that's a 5.56mm bullet right? He looked at me like he was really confused. I just stopped asking questions and took off. His wife knows even less, so just make sure you know what you want before you go in there.

I remember the guy took a HUGE loss when he started selling off all his guns for really cheap. He was scared he was going to get shut down for selling those things when the custom laws changed.

Good luck, anyone know of any new shops opening up. Let me know. BTW, haven't seen that shop in pacific mall for years. I thought it shut down? I remember they had a dummy in front of the store dressed up in swat gear with an MP5. That place hasn't been around for at least 3-5 years, so I have no clue what pacific mall shop you guys are talking about. They also used to have a small airsoft shop at metro square downstairs, kennedy and steeles area. I haven't been there in a long time so I have no idea if it's still there.

That was AMC.

Kuramae is infinitely harder to spot as it only reveals itself to those with a pure heart who have faced their greatest fears and won.

Trust in the Force, my friend.

All will be revealed in time.

The availability of airsoft in Toronto is not unsimilar to Groundhog Day. Shops and guns appear only once every five years and linger for a few days before vanishing like a waking phantasm...

Scarecrow June 30th, 2006 21:17

My favorite places (Toronto) to visit are:

- Army Issue (Port Credit)
- Sgt Bilko's (Dufferin & 401)
- Creative Outdoors (lotsa camo, but now I have most all of it)
- R. Nichols (multiple locations)
- my teammates basements (YMMV)

If you ever find yourself in Kentucky, be sure to visit the strip outside Fort Campbell. I actually witnessed Claymore have an in-store orgasm at U.S. Cav. They have first line gear store for deployment and everything is unbelieveably reasonably priced in available on the spot.

Major Clay June 30th, 2006 21:57

Sorry Creative DOES NOT sell guns, no matter how James Bond you wanna be.

BKHKMP5 July 1st, 2006 21:47

I just went to Kurame today at pacific mall. Their prices are pretty much the same as Creative. However, you can bargin with the guy at Kurame for a better price. The guy at Creative will not bargin at all. I picked up a charger, discharger and larger battery for a decent price. After bargining, it was at least 10% cheaper than Creative, also pay cash = no tax. They also have a much larger selection of goods and the major difference is, they will order any parts you're looking for whereas creative will not. Good place, the chubby guy behind the counter seemed a bit cocky to me though, but otherwise no complaints. There's another young guy there who walks around the store, really nice helpful guy.

TheHandicapper July 3rd, 2006 19:37

Can you haggle at Kuramae?

MercedeSChink July 21st, 2006 20:59

Vince from 6mm is a really great guy. He gives great prices, most of the time better then most Canadian retailers. And fixing guns wise, i think he is pretty good so far. I've had him fix at least 4 of my guns, and so far they have been working really well, and never had to bring it back for any check ups.
Conclusion: 6mm is a great store. Kurame... is not... Once i asked to look at a m14, and the guy at the store refused to let me see and pretty much told me to leave. And when i asked for the price of an mp5 it was 700 dollars! So therefore, the service is bad, and the prices are overwhelming!! Go to 6mm!!!

E-izzle July 23rd, 2006 18:46

where exactly is 6mm?...i read earlier in this thread that it's around warden/steeles? i drove all around that area today but couldn't find it. is it on steeles or warden...north of/south/east/west of?

E-izzle July 26th, 2006 23:49

never mind, i found the store...
for others that might be lookin for the store, and i know there are a few, just to let you know, it's on steeles, west of warden and in the same complex as metro square, actually located in Century Plaza, and the store is towards the west end of the plaza.

Steve_U1S July 27th, 2006 01:07

E-izzle,
Was it worth the drive?
I might like to visit there.

E-izzle July 27th, 2006 11:39

well steve, as far as i remember, in stock they had a g36c, i think i saw an m4 and an m733 in stock, as well as some revolvers and pistols (they might've had a bit more but that's all i remember)...i didn't notice the handguns much, as i was only interested in the aeg's there and if they had a p226. the guy was pre-occupied playin some game and talkin on his cell phone at the same time so i didn't get much service.
if you're around the area or are thinking of getting one of those aeg's, then sure stop by the store...but otherwise, it's not that worth it.
but the guy does give pretty good prices. i interupted his game/phone conversation to ask him bout the price of the sig p226 which he says has not come in yet but should soon...he gave me a quick 'around 280 range' before resuming his game and conversation. comparing that to the place at pacific mall, they were asking 350 for the p226, so you're much better off goin to 6mm than pmall...or try getting an appointment at asc armoury, which is the next place i plan to visit

Greylocks July 27th, 2006 11:46

Getting ignored is no way to do a business, sorry. I'd take an appointment with ASC Armoury and then be assured of good service.

E-izzle July 27th, 2006 12:05

well maybe i went in on a bad day/time...i wouldn't mind giving them a second chance, not saying that i'm definitely going to since i've made up my mind to buy something from asc armoury anyways (hint hint: hojo, if you stumble upon this thread...check your email i want that p226!!! i'll probably be sending out another email or pm soon tho)

Hehehe why not try opening up your guns and take a look what vince did to your guns. Had to give my gun to Manchoive to "De-vincentlise" my gun. Ask Manchoive him self, It was like opening a dead body.

Moderate July 27th, 2006 16:54

Why? Is it like this:

Person 1: "OMG! Where are the gears?!"

Vince: "Airsoft guns have gears?!"

or

Person 1: "OMG! Where are the gears!?"

Vince: "Airsoft guns don't need gears to work, just some lovin'."

or

Person 1: "OMG! What did you do to this gun?! All the gears are broken, the motor is missing, and the rest of the internals are on fire!"

Vince: "Fire you say? Oh that's normal. Just fire away about a thousand shots and it should put itself out. The gears arn't broken, they're just a bit loose and not attached to anything. They come in all sorts of sizes and shapes! That's why there are so many ones that looked cracked and cut in half!"

Person 1: "What about the motor?"

Vince: "Uhh...there wasn't one in there at the time, you should really check into buying one. Here's one of mine, they only cost $50 more than the leading brand"

Person 1: "How much does the leading brand cost?"

Vince: "..."

or (finally)

Person 1: "What did you do to my gun? All the parts you put in are cheap knock offs of the good stuff!"

Vince: "They're the new kind of cheap plastic, far stronger and more durable than the normal colder metal parts!"

Person 1: "They're clear. Like see through clear."

Vince: "Just fire a thousand shots and it should turn opaque".

(Apologies if he's a great guy, and does good jobs on airsoft guns. Also my knowledge of gearbox internals is sketchy at best, maybe they are made out of clear plastic :D )
