Review- HFC M190 (Beretta M9) - lots of pics! - Select Fire Edition
Review- HFC M190 (Beretta M9) - Select Fire Edition (1/3rd complete)
I’m afraid, due to a lack of gas, that this portion of the review will be rather short- also, a lack of a digital camera (for now) makes it even worse. However, I’ll be updating constantly. http://www.gazchap.com/img/gallery/airsoft/w-m190.jpg (Taken from Gazchap, as a filler until I can get some pictures up) First Impressions Anyways, I’ll tell you- by no long shot, is this a shoddily put together pistol. The metal certainly isn’t pot-metal- the functions of the real-steel are replicated to the best possible abilities. The slide will lock back when there is an empty magazine; the gun will take apart just like the real-steel. Considering it is an exact copy of the Marui Beretta M9 (with metal), this is understandable. The gun is quite hefty, as well, and I must say has the most amazing sound when the slide is racked. Pulling back the slide and letting it go, you’re treated with an amazingly loud ‘Ka-CHINK’ sound. This is by far the most realistic sound I’ve heard yet with an Airsoft pistol, so my first thoughts were ‘niiiiiice.’ The rail is a nice touch as well, so lasers and other things can be mounted at the bottom. The gun feels very solid, and is rather hefty. I’m quite impressed with that. The grips of the pistol are made of textured ABS, which is made to feel like a very, very solid rubber. They’re a pleasure to hold- I don’t like the HFC logo in the center, where the Beretta should be, but that’s just me. Besides, unless you’re a realism nut, it won’t affect you at all- and the grips are 100% interchangeable, other folks have put Hogues and Tac-Master grips on theirs. The gun feels very, very solid- on par with my WE Hi-Capa 3.8, if not better. It’s certainly not KJW’s sort of metal. The mag feels very strong, and is a copy of Marui’s, except with reinforced valves. The gun’s mag can take Red Gas without any problems, and actually feels a bit heavier then the Marui counterpart, which I also purchased a mag from. The colour is a gun-metal grey, and I rather like it. Unlike the picture above, my gun had a nice serial number, A051125, painted in white. The only downfall I can find, so far, is the trademarks. The ‘M190 Special Forces- Cal 6mm 2003’, and on the other side, ‘Air Model Firearms- Read Instructions Before Use’- don’t really look very good. However, the engravings are very light, and are not noticeable from a short distance- even from a few feet, you’ll have a hard time making them out. Some people, though, like these trademarks, and even colour them in white. However, I didn’t buy the gun for the trademarks- it’s a solid, full-metal pistol that is supposedly very accurate, and a very good performer, and was highly recommended whenever asked about, and whenever I looked into it all I got were good comments. So far, I find these comments were true- the gun is a tank. The gun takes apart just like its Marui counterpart, and is compatible with parts from the Marui series of guns (silencer adaptors, tightbores, et cetera). So, there are many replacement parts in case something goes wrong, or if you want to upgrade. The sites are fixed, yet are rather nice. Also, upon close inspection of the gun, I found pretty much no mold lines or creases- only a small one on the bottom area of the hammer, yet that didn’t matter. So far- Pros-Full metal Rugged construction Hefty, feels realistic. Plenty of aftermarket parts, and replacements No mold-lines Not pot-metal, like the KJW counterpart Single-action/Double-action Cons-Trademarks are unrealistic No working decocker (but the Marui doesn’t have it either, and I decock the gun using my thumb) This will be updated constantly- within the next few days, I’ll PM Madmax about a Propane adaptor and some silicone, and get a digital camera to take some snapshots with. It fits right in with my holster, and personally, I love it. The WE Hi-Capa 3.8 it came with is quite nice as well, however, I choose this as the first. It’s very solid, and has a ‘no-nonsense’ feel to it. My overall verdict, right now, is ‘excellent’. Another thing- The Manual The manual was fairly comprehensive, and had all the safety warnings, instructions, takedown, and explosion diagrams you'd expect. However, there was one thing I noticed. When comparing the manual next to my WE Hi-Capa 3.8's manual, it was almost the same- done in the same format, with the same pictures (generic safety pictures are reused), and the same texts. The only difference was the gun it was for... I have a suspicion that WE and HFC are related in some sort of way. EDIT- Yay, pics! Scroll down. |
very good review Nate , once again 8)
Don't like this model much , though. I prefer Glocks 8) |
Thanks, man.

Excellent review!

Nice Review dude!
Sorry to jack your thread but I really need help! I tried to place hogue grips on my gun but the damn trigger release spring keeps on popping out. Does anyone know how to remedy this situation? I was thinking of making the area which has contact with the trigger release piece thicker with pieces of metal or some other material. |

Hmm- I'm guessing this is your thread, but oh, well.
http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forum...howtopic=57577 Anyways, I'm afraid I can't help much with that- I've taken the gun apart repeatedly, yet I haven’t taken off the grips- that’s the main part I left alone. However, from what I understand, perhaps form-cutting some sturdy Plasticard, then gluing it appropriately, would help. Odd, that- Sledge installed some Hogue grips without a problem. I’ll have to ask him about that. EDIT- Ah, just noticed your reply, Carvs. Thanks- I assume this is a problem in the Marui and KJW Berettas too, judging from what I've seen. Thanks! |

Hmm- at least on Marui ones, then. I've seen some complaints- I assume it's because of that bit taped on a piece of paper.
Anyways, I guess not. |

Anyways, I guess not. Anyways, I’ve just PM’ed Madmax. Anyways, once his new site is up (a couple of days), I’ll be ordering a Propane Adaptor and some silicone oil from him, so I should have some shooting info and stats fairly soon. I’m borrowing a camera from Jordan either tomorrow or the day after, so pictures will be here fairly soon. I’ll be as comprehensive as possible, and take as many as I can without flooding it (my pictures are highly compressed, as seen in the FA-MAS thread- they’re of a decent size and 56K friendly). Pictures will include comparisons to other guns, slide locked back, normal, different angles, mags, if it can be used as a bottle-opener, and all that stuff. Any requests of a certain picture to take, please, post your request here. I’ll do it and post it here as soon as I take it and upload it to Photobucket. |
Looks really nice how much are magazines?
|
The mags are 36 dollars (or 26? Sorry, I forget) on WGC- for Marui ones, they work too. They carry them at most retailers.
Anyways, Sam0182 (look at some of the previous posts, he's there) is planning on bringing some of these in, in a few months. Check the review of him or ask Yanchan/other buyers about his reliability- he's a great guy. Anyways, there's a compensated version of this gun, and special-editions (darker metal, and simulated wood grips designed to look like the TM Biohazard) in semi-auto and select fore. |

Thanks BTAP.
I've got the special forces full, semi auto version on order and appreciate the review. Hoping it's of the same build quality if not better. Will add pics and some differences to your review if you don't mind, once it arrives. |

Very nice review- When you get more gas, I'm interested to know it's efficiency on green. (I'm also awaiting the pictures :P) |
Nate ( BTAP ) told me that pictures will be here in a short moment , be patient ! I had a quick peek at them and both guns look awesome ( M190 and Baby Capa ). I also been told that the M190 makes an awesome sound when you put the mag in and when you cock the slide back. Seems interesting
|
I would like to know gas consumption rate, and yes Sam at BCAS is totally kick ass...Excellent Customer Service and warranty.
|
they look really nice , nothing plasticy.
This M190 is definately my choice for GBB after the whole Glock series |
Indeed. It's a great gun, to say the least.
Anyways, the pictures aren't too great, but they do the job- the top few are fairly blurry, but the camera seems to not be able to focus. Odd, that. Anyways, I'm ordering a Propane Adaptor with a local guy. Should have shooting stats soon- comments on the pictures would be great (they're on the bottom of Page 1, in case you don't know). |
More Pics! :D
Since we were on the m190 topic I decided to add my pics. Hope you guys like it.

awesome that is , great job
|
So nice!!! I want one hehe :-D
|
Indeed. Stokes, that looks wicked.
How're the Hogues working out for you? I think I'll get some real-steel grips, a friend of mine transplanted Tac-Masters to his semi auto M190. Anyways, a small propane-adaptor order is going out soon. Shooting stats should be here in a week or two. |
The hogue grips are amazing. It adds so much to the guns texture and feel... fits just like a custom grip fitted to your own hands. Some modifications such as carving out holes and making the piece that comes in contact with the slide lock unit alittle thicker was needed, but thats about it.
Overall I really like the finish :D |
HFC M199 FULL METAL SPECIAL EDITION
HFC M199 FULL METAL SPECIAL EDITION (full auto-semi mode)
http://users.telenet.be/airsoftpeter/news/new71L.jpg |
Wicked-
Is that yours? I love the Special Editions, but I got this one instead. |
Yep, it's mine, received it yesterday from HK.
I got the other one also. It's on my website airsoft collection : http://users.telenet.be/airsoftpeter/ |
Ah, that's wicked.
Any thoughts on how they perform, or such like that? I'm group-ordering gas with 2 guys next week, haven't got to fire them yet. EDIT- looking through those, ... woah. That's an insane collection. For the readers, How does it stack up against the rest? |
The full auto mode is not that great but it performs better then my KJW full metal Beretta's.
|
Pistol as a homemade silencer on it now, with the words 'Cal 9' painted on it (Para didn't turn out) in small white letters.
Pictures soon- still waiting to order the damn adaptors. |
... woah.
The adaptors arrived (kudos to Madmax, Stefan, and ASC Armoury), and I got to fire them. ... woah. Loud, high-powered, full auto's really, really fun. There's some recoil, and the gun seems quite accurate. Haven't done any more then random plinking yet, I'll put some .22 targets up later. The HiCapa 3.8 is nice, but right now, I'm rooting for the M190. |
Today BTAP and I were testing his two new pistols, and I offered to do a pain test. So I got proper eye and face protection and stood approximately 8-10m away from BTAP. First he used the Hi-Capa (with Excel .25s, all I had at the time, and Coleman's Propane), and it hurt like a bitch, although the effects weren't immediate. Then we tried the M190, from a bit furthur, and once hit, pain was fucking INSTANT. There was lots of shouting and swearing, and laughing from BTAP. The guns left two big red welts, even through a shirt.
Awesome pistols BTAP! |
Haha yeah BTAP told me that. About 300 fps right in the belly should have definately hurt
|
OK, I may as well follow up on this.
Anyways, this gun has exceeded all expectations. It puts hole after hole through the same target- wherever I put it. The gun's accurate as hell, the hop-up is very stable, and the gas consumption is amazing. The gun spits out about 7 RPS on full auto, perhaps more. Not the highest, but certainly fairly high- want more then that, get a Glock 18C. I don't see why you'd need much more then you have on this- however, on automatic, it's quite innacurate thanks to the recoil. Nomatter- considering it's on fully automatic, at that point you're not going for accuracy anyways. All in all, it's an amazing gun. Full metal, built like a tank (this is no KJW pot metal, this is certainly something very strong), accurate, and powerful- it's certainly not the prettiest thing around, but if you don't like it, go get a Western Arms. This gun is not for you. For the rest of us that prefer performances over function, this is certainly a gun for you. It's accurate and it packs a punch- what more can you ask? Whenever I need a gun to shoot someone with, the Hi-Capa and the Cougar (next on my list) can wait- the M190 is first out of the holster. In fact, I may buy another for my left hand- the fact that you can change mag-releases is another added plus. Questions or concerns will be answered- I've taken the gun down, painted it flat black, sanded the barrel, and put it back together. Now it looks really quite professional. When taking the gun apart to see the trigger spring, though, I was an idiot and let the hammer parts fly everywhere. That's not recommended- I managed to put it back together without much difficulty. More pictures coming soon- next gun review will be a Western Arms Beretta Cougar M8045 Inox. |
hei
i have a question... as far as i read on redwolf, the hfc m190 does either have no hop up or have a fixed hop up... is that true? or is it a mistake by redwolf? thaaaaanks PS: i like the finish of the gun very much! ill color! nice! |
Fixed hop up. Works very well, too.
Redwolf made a mistake. |
k... but for wich bbs is the hopup?
i had a kjw m9... it was horrible... 0.2 -> tooooooooo strong... 0.25 -> toooo strong... 0.28-> strong, almost to strong... what about hfc? |
HFC works great with .20s. It's calibrated for that.
.25s work too, I've been using primarily them. |
k what gas do you use, how many fps?
|
I've been using purely Propane- it works out of the box. I'm going to assume around 310 to 320 FPS, while doing some homechronos and comparing to other guns, it certainly seems that way.
|
k thanks
|
Welcome, anytime.
Any other questions will be answered, it's a fairly simple yet amazingly efficient gun. The hammer mechanism, some people seem to have problems putting it back together (if they happen to somehow let the hammer mechanism fall apart). If anyone happens to have done this with an HFC Beretta, or even a KJ or a Marui, that they can't put back together, I'd be glad to help. Managed to do mine with about 20 minutes of trial-and-error. |

-VM (Awesome job with the paint btw) |
Thanks, man.
I bought it from AI Models (Great guy, great prices and fast shipping), for just shy of 200 dollars. Considering the KJW counterpart is about 300 and up, I'd say it's a pretty good deal. Sam0182 (www.bcairsoftsupply.com) is importing some through AIModels as well, and will be reselling them for pretty good prices. I've already spoken to him, it should be the same model I have. |
No cam, so I had to take this from my shitty webcam.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...tato/HFCM9.jpg Barrel and slide have been sanded down for that chrome effect. Actually looks kickass. |
it's awesome looking BTAP.
way to go :salute: |
|
SWEET JESUS THAT GUN IS AWSOME...the movie is bonus points.
|
Why, thank you.
And now for some 56K death. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...o/IMG_0549.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...o/IMG_0548.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...o/IMG_0543.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...o/IMG_0542.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...o/IMG_0541.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...o/IMG_0539.jpg |
Has the strigger spring ever broke on ur gun? because people say that is breaks easily.
|
wow, necropost.
yeah, it did, soon after I sold it. stupid HFC monkey-metal trigger spring. seems that it somehow broke, sold it to Kurgan and he hasn't elaborated. either way, JG STEYR-AUG as a project gun next. I was still satisfied with the gun, something must've broke during trigger spring replacement. |
Would the trigger spring still break even with a real steel trigger spring?
|

does the silencer on your gun actually silence? i was on wgc shop, and I am definitely not paying $100 to get a silencer.

Hmm.. sorry for the SLIGHT hijack, but I just had my trigger spring shatter as well, anyone know any good sources for a replacement here?
Thanks, Cheers, Alex |

I read a previous post about silencers on aeg's and one guy said that he followed this approach and the silencer actually changed the 'tone' of the gun, which was enough apparently. |
Hey Bob,
I have a few questions, I just bought the m190 and I just want to make sure its the same one that you have, Here is the URL: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=150281286228 If this is the same gun that you have, I wanted to do a few Upgrades to it, but this is my first gas pistol. I have had shotguns, and a Tokyo Mauri AK-47 and taken then apart 100 times, but I want to make sure I dont F*** this gun up. I wanted to do a few things to the pistol: 1. Put a silencer on it (what should i get? how do I do it?), and 2. Put a high cap magazine on it (is it possible for this gun?). Also wanted to know if the propane gas you use is the ones you buy from menards. Can you please help me with this? Thanks a bunch!!!! |
Waohhh, necro.
Silencer = get a threaded barrel. Anything meant to fit a TM will work. No such thing as hicaps for GBBs, dude. Just extended mags. Menards? What the fuck? |
And where would you get a threaded barrel? how much would they cost??
and whats an extended mag? pic? Menards is a store for tools, appliances, construction stuff. (I live in IL) |
