Colt Canada / Diemaco C8, C7 & L119/SFW Builders Gallery
First of all it's not "just another M4" so stick it! ;)
http://www.coltcanada.com/images/c8a3-lsview.png http://www.coltcanada.com/images/c7a2-lsview.png http://www.eliteukforces.info/images/sas/l119a2.jpg It's true they're based off the AR design but there's just something different and unique about them (in addition to the 90+ improvements Diemaco made to the original design). There are some amazing resources here for those wanting to jump into C8, C7 or L119/SFW builds. I thought it was time to bring it all together into one thread so we can show off our builds and help & inspire others to do the same! I encourage the ASC community to post pics here of anything designed to replicate any C8 or C7 model including foreign export models such as the L119 SFW utilized mostly by British Special Forces. In the second post I will keep a list of reference links for anything related that might assist members in their endeavors. If you come across something related, let me know and I'll add it to the resource post. Otherwise.. start posting and ENJOY! |

So to start this off, my build has begun with a G&P C8A1 "Canadian Carbine" with Diemaco trades. This would be more accurate for say a C8 used by Canadian law enforcement as apposed to CF. Eventually I plan to have a lower engraved with CF proper trades but this is what I have for now. Call it "inspired by" as apposed to an exact replica (for now).
This is the evolution of my build in photos: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/attachm...5&d=1418515477 https://scontent-a-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...f0&oe=555E6F31 https://scontent-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...08&oe=5580B77E https://scontent-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...9f&oe=55A0FF6F EDIT: I should add that my build is inspired by the newer C8 IUR model that seems to be embraced by CANSOFCOM. I also plan to build a standard C8 CQB 11.5" barrel configuration. |
Here's my C7A1
Still need to get the trades done and get a better Elcan http://i57.tinypic.com/nq1zj5.jpg Started with a G&G Full Metal GR-16 A3, Upgraded the gear box shell for a more structurally sound one but lost the blow back feature Hard to think that this is what it originally looked like http://i58.tinypic.com/34t7i3s.jpg |
Love those trades MSC! shonit123, love the c7, can't wait to see it decked out with Colt Canada tattoos!

C8CQB
C8CQB Build
The base gun is a G&G Top Tech GC7A1. Starting off with the externals: -D Boy "Ergo" trigger grip -Unknown "VLTOR" stock -Unknown brand suppressor -Unknown KAC rail -Unknown buffer tube -JG gas tube -Real Magpul RVG -Zombie Stopper XPS-2 (swapped out the reticle for a regular holographic) -Tokyo Marui PEQ-16 battery box -JG front triangle sight -Classic Army carrying handle -King Arms steel CQB outer barrel The only reason why it's two toned is because I didn't want to paint over the laser etched "trades". Other than the lousy trades, the no ambi-selector, ambi-mag release, Diemaco sling mount, and Diemaco carrying handle, I think everything is correct(?) Here's my C7A2 build (G&G M16A3 MAX) from a few years ago.
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/picture...pictureid=5129 http://www.airsoftcanada.com/picture...pictureid=4719 I briefly had a GHK GBB conversion kit installed, but the recoil caused this lovely crack on the receiver:(. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/picture...pictureid=6734 Has since been mostly parted out. |
ARC-74 & MSC, after seeing your receivers, I so have to get my C8 trades done!
|
nice build ARC!
|
hi everyone!
i have 2 questions: 1. so is it confirmed that CANSOFCOM has adopted IUR for their c8s? 2. are they also using c8a3, and if so, will making it cqb version be acceptable? |

In terms of uppers, most IUR's seen in media so far have been 11.5" CQB length uppers. Having said that, Larry Vickers posted these pics of 15.8" versions IUR on his FB not long ago. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showpos...3&postcount=44 |
Quote:
Why I ask is because I'm trying to build a C8A3 with my JTF2 black kit and might play a bit of CQB. That said originally I could've gone with the default SFW built, but because I'm planning to build my gun as relatively more new, therefore I'm making it an A3. If I'm playing indoors then CQB is seriously the better way to go, which is why I'm trying to confirm CANSOFCOM are using A3 + some as CQB. I looked into several of the threads already on the forum, but I wanted to make sure what I'm doing remains relatively factual because I don't wanna turn my gun too exotic and then just calling it SOF-style to excuse laziness and lack of proper effort. While SOFs do have a lot of privilege to how they want to build their things, I feel if we're really trying to build a relatively accurate impression, we should at least put some decent efforts unless that was how you planned your gun to be in the beginning. Just my 2 cents :P I was gonna use the RIS system at the moment, although hearing your response, now I'm starting to consider IUR too |

Quote:
I looked into IUR just now and realized it's too much of an investment now if I replace the totally new an unused RIS+ upper for a IUR, which is another additional $100-200 investment. |

So I decided to add gallery posts as a dumping ground for any and all reference pics of the different C8 / C7 / L119 variants. Today I'm going to start with the C8 CQB version seen in various CANSOFCOM images. Enjoy!

Thanks ShadowTwoSix!
After combining some studies from ShadowTwoSix and other references from other threads in this forum, this is what my current C8A3 looks like. My current C8 impression: http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...pstbhudhff.jpg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...pszxmbqgv8.jpg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1wu7pxgs.jpg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...psxjcf1bws.jpg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...psvxxvytxb.jpg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...psgco0mhmi.jpg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...psnww0j4vw.jpg Originally I opted for a more conventional C8 look by spraying the CADPAT light green with the original carbine stock and butt pad, but once I upgraded my Multicam kit to CSOR impression, I also upgraded the rest of my gun to more "customized SOF" style. With this I added the 2" barrel extension (haven't made the custom barrel extension yet), Vortex flash hider, used VLTOR stock, and changed the RIS and removed the delta ring. For accessories I used the EOTECH 552 and the PEQ-15. I also wasn't able to get the proper engravings for the fire selector unfortunately, so I think I will redo the CNC someday to get it right. I also not sure how factually accurate it will be to remove the delta ring and use a RIS directly instead. http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...sb3ijxqsf.jpeg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...sb3ijxqsf.jpeg http://i1114.photobucket.com/albums/...psrdabd4lq.jpg Feel free to comment and judge and tell me what you think in terms of appearance, accuracy, etc. Looking to hear them! |
I don't know if its just the lighting in your pictures, but the green on your C8 looks REALLY bright, I'd try and dull it out a bit more. It's bordering on being neon hahahahaha

For a "from factory" C8A3 ditch the rail for proper OD hanguards, while I've seen railed C8, I've never seen issued rail covers on them, and when I have seen rail covers, they've never been green like the standard furnature, particularily NOT THAT green. Ditch the CQBR length, the C8A3 replaced the FTHB, it retained the SFW Profile barrel (Think L119A1). Put on a DIEMACO Triad, DIEMACO BUIS and an ELCAN C79A2 optic. Ditch that lower reciever and get a black one, have the fire marker as S/R/AUTO, have the C*A# marked so that the A3 looks like it was done later (A little out of line) as most seem to have been upgrades and build using existing recievers. You also best start hunting for Ambi firecontrols of the right type, the correct Ambi Charging handle latch (Can be found, I've had 3 of em over the years, only 1 these days) and the correct Ambi mag release. Trust me on this, I'm one of the main C7/C8 SME around here. Sadly, I have no pictures, but I had a prett good pre C8A3 "parts repaired" rifle. |
For those that are looking for a RS green Colt Canada stock, expensive but they are available.

Looks like it comes included with the civilian sales SA15.7 & SA20 models as well. So if you know anyone who's picked one up, maybe find out if they're still using that plate. If so, this is the closest thing I have come up with (and they're not that close): AEG: http://www.evike.com/products/28762/ GBBR: http://www.airsoftcenter.eu/gun-acce...pe-sling-mount ...And the real steel version: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/CQD-S.../cqd%20rsm.htm |

SF are a particularily bad example in terms of "standard" kit |
Quite the article from 2014, one I happened to have missed:

There's a pic of a FTHB with the stock sling attachment out there, AFAIK the A3s are just dual toned, accuwedged (ugh) and ambidextrous.

What will be the model marking on the C8 if I'm dressing the rifle up as CANSOFCOM style? C8A3? SFW?
And do the CSOR/JTF2/SOFCOM still use the Simon Sleeve for their CANSOFCOM rifles? |

Colt Canada C8 MMR (MODULAR RAILED RIFLE)
Just a few more tidbits and links regarding this new CC model:
Colt Canada's official MMR page: http://www.coltcanada.com/mrr.html Calibre Magazine's articles: http://calibremag.ca/colt-canada-mrr...-railed-rifle/ http://calibremag.ca/colt-canada-mrr...ve-first-test/ Note the images from this article in the Ottawa Citizen particularly the signage behind the rifles. One states "300 Blackout with Integral Suppressor" and another refers to a 5.56 version with integral suppressor! Yowzers... and very cool! http://ottawacitizen.com/news/nation...ers-and-police In addition: SHOT SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT by O'Dell Engineering (Colt Canada's Civilian distributor) "We are pleased to announce that the Colt Canada Modular Rail Rifle (MRR) will be made available to the Canadian civilian market in 11.6, 14.5, 16 and 18.6" barrel lengths in the Spring of 2016. I don't have the exact info regarding the who, when or where, but the weapon has been fitted with the KAC M5 RAS in the field. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/picture...pictureid=6877 Been painted an earthy brown too, which led to me at one early stage to do the following . I had used my airbrush & painted the M5 RAS with Tamiya acrylic XF72 Brown JGSDF. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/picture...pictureid=4614 Edit: You can also add some white :D http://www.airsoftcanada.com/picture...pictureid=6878 |

Since I would never be able to mount the RAS without the RSM tearing me a new @$$hole, I ended up just flipping it. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ugXt2lOwNh...0/PC251948.JPG I've got it looking pretty close to the work rifle, but there there are still a lot of missing details, some I still want, some I can live without, some I would like but are just prohib: sling plate, "claw" charging handle, trigger guard, an actual C79A2 Elcan (instead of just a C79 with the green condom), and of course the f/a BCG, lower, trigger group with all the fun bits and 30 round mags to go with it :) |
My King Arms Ops Inc 15th Model suppressor finally came in the mail.
Here are two setups: http://i.imgur.com/8vmOgl2.jpg This is my main setup, I love shortdots and whenever I play it comes in handy because of the fields where I live. http://i.imgur.com/xj2EUL0.jpg I plan on getting either a T1 or a EXPS. The rifle build isn't complete yet, I still want a Ergo grip, Magpul trigger guard, dual pressure switch and a WMX flashlight. Then I'll paint the whole rifle. |

So now that it's become evident that the UKSF's new L119A2 appears to be almost identical to the CANSOCOM C8IUR upper, I anticipate some very interesting builds coming out of the UK airsoft crowd. Here's a link to the first (not unlike my initial concept of using a Geissele SMR rail).

CANSOFCOM C8CQB/IUR Muzzle Device & Suppressor
19 Attachment(s)
Not really new information but I thought I'd post specifics on the CANSOFCOM specific muzzle device & suppressor that is often seen on CSOR, JTF2 & CJIRU CQB length C8's. As far as I can tell this two-piece muzzle device has only ever been seen on CF Special Forces C8's and the sometimes seen 7.62mm AR10 Supper SASS DMR. The combination is designed to allow attachment of the Ops. Inc. 15th Model Suppressor often seen in use by CANSOFCOM members. The two pieces are as follows:
Smith Enterprises "Vortex" G6A2-SBV with 22x1 mm RH O.D. thread with 1/2-28 I.D. thread (Smith product# 1001-V-G6-A2-SBV) http://www.smithenterprise.com/products06.05.html (5th item down) Attachment 53417 Description (As per midwayusa.com): Smith Enterprise Vortex Flash Hider 1/2"-28 Thread with M22x1.0 Outside Thread for Ops Inc Suppressors and SEI Sound Moderators Used by US armed forces worldwide, the US Dept of Homeland Security and law enforcement agencies across the nation, the Vortex flash hider features a patented 15 degree, right hand helical flute design that effectively eliminates muzzle flash. Machined from ordnance grade 8620 steel and finished with a mil-spec phosphate, the Vortex is a self-tightening flash suppressor that will not loosen or shift position under sustained fire. This Vortex flash hider comes equipped with M22x1.0 outside threads specifically for use with an OPS Inc sound suppressor. Specifications: Caliber: 223 Rem/5.56mm Thread Pitch: 1/2"-28 Length: 2.25" Diameter: .860" Material: 8620 Steel Finish: Mil-Spec Phosphate Weight: 2.9 oz Silencer Mount: OPS Inc M22x1.0 OPS Inc Silencer Compatibility: M4-S MBS M4-M MBS 12th Model SPR MBS 14th Model CQB MBS 15th Model CQB MBS 16th Model CQB MBS Note: Manufacturer suggests using a M22x1.0 Thread Protector (Product # 672293) when an Ops Inc sound suppressor is not installed on the flash hider. Allen Engineering M4 Collar Adapter Extender http://aesuppressors.com/mounts/ (3rd item down) Attachment 53418 Descriptions: If the barrel is too short to properly mount the M4 Collar and has at least 1.5" of exposed barrel, this adapter will add the necessary length. This will also fit on long barrels, but will and about 1" of length. This adapter adds extended 1/2x28 threads and requires the AEMB Mount to mount the suppressor. This works with the AEM4, AEM3, and AEM2. Ops Inc. 15th Model 5.56mm Suppressor http://www.opsinc.us/suppressors/15t...l-CQB-MBS.html Attachment 53419 Description: Designed for 11.5 inch Colt Commando, The 14 1/2" M4 and similar weapons This model attaches to the weapon via a patented muzzle brake and an adapter that goes over the barrel for silencer alignment. When fired without the suppressor the muzzle brake effectively reduces recoil and muzzle climb while diverting muzzle gasses slightly forward, away from the shooter. The muzzle brake design eliminates upward and downward blast while reducing muzzle flash. The suppressor mounts via threads on the outside of the muzzle brake centering on a fitting that locks over the barrel. On the M4 this fitting stops forward of the M203 cutout allowing the mounting and use of the M203. Technical Description Caliber 5.56mm / .223 caliber Diameter 1.5 inches Length past brake 3.5 inches Length past muzzle 4.75 inches Overall length 7 inches Weight 17 ounces Construction Fusion welded 300 series stainless steel Endurance Meets SOPMOD objective of 30,000 rounds under various firing schedules. Colt Canada SAS IUR aka L119A2 Pics
Some incredible close up pics of the new "Colt Canada SAS IUR" aka L119A2 Upper posted by Nordic Marksman on Canadian Gun Nutz. I've posted the link here instead of the images because in case they are of a customer's firearm.

My current GBBR build is near complete.
Need a new BUIS, M600V and a dual pressure switch. As for trades, I'll need a new lower because this one has a broken trigger guard and a piece of metal broken off by the front. So I won't have trades until I locate a lower in Canada. http://i.imgur.com/3cI1zW7.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0FQZqKN.jpg If you're wondering why the yellowish base colour, it was to match the rare combat top which I had when I first bought the paint. Currently it only matches my Sands, but I do plan on buying another top in the near future. |
Hey guys!
I've contacted HAO about the Vortex SBV, and they're down to make it as long as we meet 20 buyers! SO, Price: $50 USD per flash hider (without shipping) Construction: 4140 Steel Inner thread: -14mm (IF YOU WANT +14mm THREADING TELL ME THAT, IT'S VERY IMPORTANT) Outside thread: 22 x 1.0 Since the manufacture is waiting for 20 buyers in advance, the wait time will be long. After they are made, they will be shipped to me, and I will contact all buyers and discuss shipping. So if truly interested, message me for PayPal info! And don't forget to say if you want +14mm threading for your PTW!! http://i.imgur.com/h9US2mR.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XjjhZtz.jpg http://i.imgur.com/utfspLo.jpg |
L119A2 Rails & Uppers on the horizon!
9 Attachment(s)
So for anyone not following the L119 Owners Club & Canadian Forces (Impression/Inspiration) Facebook pages, there are two options on the horizon for those wanting fairly accurate CANSOFCOM C8IUR (CQB) or L119A2 blasters.
HAO has shown some very exciting 3D images of a full IUR Upper designed for PTW and GBBR bodies. It sounds like HAO will start with the more common CQB length rail/upper that has been seen utilized by both CANSOFCOM & UKSF personnel. The only difference between the two is that the UKSF variant has the grenade launcher lug on the rear underside of the rail portion whereas the CANSOFCOM version was not ordered with that. CSOR & JTF2 impressionists may need to find a machinist to take that off for them as I do not believe it will be removable (as with the RS versions). HAO's post on the L119 Owners Club FB page: "The UKSF is here lads! Of course PTW always lead the way. *It's monolithic upper and only available in PTW/GBBR version. (Well, only available in 10.5" version and still in develop)" (Photo Credits: Bismarck Wang of HAO Industries) Attachment 55043 Attachment 55044 Attachment 55045 Attachment 55046 The other exciting news is from Angry Gun. They've decided to go a different route and design a separate free-float rail that will mount using a barrel nut. Purists may not like the idea of not having a perfect full IUR replica, but it does open things up for all kinds of other options. I understand they plan to have it compatible with as many different brands/systems as possible. The other fabulous part about the stand-alone rail is that they've designed it with a removable grenade lug as you'll see in the images! That means us CANSOFCOM nuts won't have to machine it off and in fact will have both C* & L119A2 options available! Here's the post from Red Wolf UK (Angry Gun's UK distributor) about the rail on their FB page: "An update on our L119A2 project with Angry Gun . The prototype rail is currently in testing and is fitting really well. Some minor details to change for the production versions but here are some teasers." Pre-orders for the Angry Gun L119 A2 (C8IUR) inspired Free Float Rail are now available through Redwolf UK however they don't ship to North America.
As I understand, they are working on finding a Canadian distributer here so I will update this thread as soon as I know more. http://uk.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf...EG_and_GBB.htm https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...67afe30611.jpg Sent from my SM-G530W using Tapatalk |
Fans of UKSF impressions and the Colt Canada L119A1/A2 should take a look at this article on The Reptile House Blog. It explains a bit of the evolution of Angry Gun's new L119A2 (C8IUR) inspired rail system as well as its implementation on one of the first L119A2 replicas built from it.

Putting together a build of my own, but I was wondering where you guys source the green hand guards and pistol grips? I was just going to go the route of spray painting them with some Krylon OD green that's pretty close to the actual color, but I know the paint will fade eventually with use.

For Real Furniture, check out Calgary Shooting Centre - https://store.theshootingcentre.com/...-furniture-set
and there's also Nordic Marksman - http://www.nordicmarksman.com/Colt-Canada-2.html An alternative for just the handguards are IMI, I found miine on ebay. Hope that helps |

She's not perfect but I'm pretty happy with how the paint job and charging handle turned out. Next I just have to get an EOtech and I'll be set.... And maybe a Cadex grip. |
So what about this one??
It is a replica of a Canadian Colt build for the Dutch army called C8NLD. As the body has allready markings on the left side i can't put on the correct markings on that side. Dit put on a weapons label and the correct mag release button tho:D Regards Roy https://i.ibb.co/mFPSYMb/DSC-0654.jpg |
