"Weapons stockpile seized in Mississauga raid

Peel Regional Police have arrested a 27-year-old Mississauga man after they seized a cache of weapons last week at an apartment on Arista Way.

Police say they were investigating the trafficking of firearms to members of a gang within the Region of Peel.

Last Wednesday, police raided an apartment on Arista Way, in the Hurontario and Burnamthorpe Rd. E. area, and seized two revolvers, five rifles, a sawed-off shotgun, 30 replicas/pellet guns, 25 various weapons and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition.

Police are trying to determine where the firearms came from.

Michael Etherington has been charged with 35 firearm and weapons-related offences. He is scheduled to appear in Brampton court Wednesday for a bail hearing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Peel Regional Police at (905) 453-3311 ext. 8800, or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS/8477."

Wow Mississauga is becoming well known now huh? 5 years ago this would have been seen as very strange news. Now given all that's happened lately (someone got shot and died in front of Square One, grow operations in northwestern Mississauga, weapons cache found, murders around City Centre area) we're fast becoming Toronto!

Seems like in many of these busts replica firearms outnumber real ones by 3 to one...
Makes you wonder how many of these "gangbangers" are actually carrying toys.....

But I guess if a group of guys that all pull out guns as long as one of them is real the effect would be the same.. Not a positive trend that is for certain

LOL, you just reminded of a story my friend told me some time ago.

Back in the early-mid 90s my friend had a job at a small men's suit store. One day, while things were slow and he was alone, some guy came in, pretended to look around and when my buddy wasn't looking...whipped out a small pistol and hold him to empty the cash. But my friend recongnized his "weapon" as a airgun and told him to 'f' off. The guy still tried to convince him to empty the cash. My buddy then tried to grab the airgun from the theif and they got into a small skirmish. After a minute or so the guy just wiggled himself free and ran off.

Now that he looks back on it, he realizes he shouldnt have tried to tackle the dude. but still gets a laugh from the memory or the dude pulling out a airgun.

It's usually younger members or ''recruits'' that carry pellet guns in gangs. Organized gangs don't give real guns to their youg members before they are around 15-16. That way they keep some kind of control and reduce their chances of being busted by a young kid that will say everything authorities want him to tell.

So who wants to guess which ones are airsoft... =\

Only possible airsoft that I can see are Glock and that MP40. Ancient revolvers (except for one) and Beretta look like real steel. 4 rifles and a shotgun look real too, rest are break barrel pellet rifles.

Well we don't know the specifics, who knows if the guy was a criminal, a collector resisting registration or a guy who goofed around with this stuff in public 1 too many times. Sometimes it only takes one ticked off neighbor to tip the police.

Read Peel police news release. They say he was under unvestigation for selling guns to gang members. I see at least one prohibited butterfly knife there, also some of those knives might be switch blades which are also prohibited.

That MP40 is a springer version - certainly NOT the new TOP version as the safety switch isn't in the center of the grip.

Looking at the Glock mag at the top right also see the ghetto nunchucks on the floor bottom right, brass knuckles and Butterflys are illegal,there is alot of crap on the table the guy has his little illegal gun (porn) collection and he'd get popped with it for being stupid so oh well...

it simply amazes me at the fact that gangs have bolts actions who they gonna out shoot wit that plus there 2 big to carry so it always seems odd when you see them in a raid gang members perfer sawed off shotys and handguns and small machine pistols like mac 10s almost every gun raid ive seen have old guns from ww2 or ww1 and half are russian stuff.

Gangs learn too you know. Usually you will hear about inefective drive-by style shootings or someone fired 10 rounds and missed all of them. But now they started ambushing their targets like in recent shooting around Jane/Finch where 3 thugs were wating on the roof for victims to arrive. I'm pretty sure that WW2 bolt action rifle with half decent optics and a bit of planing can be a lot more dangerous than a .22 pistol

Rezz was different. He did produce drugs, but his op was too small for dealing purpoces. Plus people who grow almost never deal. He just mixed 2 hobbies, drugs and collecting expensive replicas/real steel FA rifles which is a bad idea. I guess he wasn't carefull enough... This guy on the other hand was selling or planing to sell guns to criminals.
P.S I think Rezz only had 2 assault rifles and a carbine (m1 or whatever it was). Rest was airsoft. This guy hasd way more real steel.

I guess I missed a lot of incidents since I never seen/heard about any of those weapons siezed. I do remember a story about 2-3 years ago where some 15y.o kid got an "AK" shipped from states, there was a big stink about it in the papers. There was a guy holding it and "Siezed AK assault rifle" on the bottom. I still have a pic somewhere. Somebody made a mistake that time, it was actually a Saiga 12 gauge shotgun, not an AK :) Btw, you gotta check the names before posting them. I think you meant AVS 36 not SVS, SVT39 not 40 (there was 38 and 40 model). Kind of hard to believe that too many AVS rifles made it here since there was only about 40k of them made if I'm not mistaken, most of use was during the war with Finland in 1940, it ended up being replaced by SVT40 pretty fast. I only held/seen AVS once. Original Russian made TT 33s are pretty hard to find as well. Mostly Chinese and Korean models are on US market these days, same story with SKS carbines, mostly Yugo and Chinese made.

yes i meant avs36 the svt 39 was meant to be 39 those guns are pretty much the same in design ecept for the avs wich is auto matic but im sure ive seen them in seizures its posible they were chinese nockoff of the sks and tts and aks it hard to tell on tv when they only show for roughly 10 seconds those are just a few of the guns on the streets of toronto stupid people we should just resolve gang fights with airsoft skirmishes instead of killing atleast they wont kill each other :roll:
