The Sig Signal Thread

I just noticed that the SIG thread is gone. So I'm restarting it, without the Engrish title.

I'll start it off with my own.

It's been so long since I was a good Sig owner :(

http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto..._4657812_n.jpg

That 550 was one of my first guns! Nice hurricane metal body on it too. Ahhh but I miss my sigs so much.

TaroBear November 4th, 2012 13:04

I just tried to fit MAG mags into my GG, and it's a super tight fit. It also doesn't click when inserted into the gun. Anyone have that before? Maybe some sanding is required?

Schlyder November 4th, 2012 20:38

Yes... the Mag brand mags need some sanding to allow the mag catch to clik into place.

Styrak November 14th, 2012 11:19

Bringing this shit back. I'm kinda derping it with the magazine grip, but whatever.

So I'm not the only one who made ghetto magpuls for my SIG mags. Nice.

CR0M November 15th, 2012 11:33

dont care, thats a good idea... i used to struggle like an idiot sometimes trying to get a mag out of my m4 pouch. with those clips or the bottom of the mags catching on something....

TaroBear November 15th, 2012 12:36

Has anyone tried a 5.56 Magul on a SIG magazine before? I've always wondered.

Paracord and black duct tape. Works awesome and looks good I think. Much cheaper too.
I can post how my mag pouches/mags look if you want!

TaroBear November 15th, 2012 16:04

Sure, I wouldn't mind. I use shingles and paracord with duct or electric tape, myself. I've been meaning to do it to my long mags as well. Right now its' only on my shorties.

boren93 November 16th, 2012 03:23

Can we post our "Sigg" bottles here I mean they are Swiss am I right? :D

Schlyder November 16th, 2012 09:12

....

CR0M November 30th, 2012 02:45

I almost sold this gun twice in the same week. I was set to sell it, then another buyer gave me a better offer, then he flaked.... THEN!... I recently bought some accessories for a M4 project that I wondered what would look like on the sig... and I fell in love all over again...

ics sig 551 ... mbus, angled foregrip, flashlight, silencer, cheek pouch. The rail on the front end was taken off the top of one of those m3000 shotguns and screwed into the top handguard with black screws...

Anybody else shave the connector nubs off their mags? I've been working at it all morning...jesus, even though it's brittle enough to snap if you drop the mags, they're not easy to take off with tools. I've been sanding and cutting, and I've still got a lot of stumps left over. Might need to take a dremmel to the mags to do it properly.

Dremal should have been your first choice! I cant tell you how much time I have saved over the years with a Dremal. Those little carbon cut off wheels are amazing at making quick work of hardened steel. Not that there is a lot of hardened steel in airsoft anyways. But I often replace pins and parts with steel equivalents.

Schlyder December 16th, 2012 15:23

I take them off. I used side cutters, and just crush/twist them off. Clean up/level with a razor blade.

Yup I took mine all off. Useless. They just get caught on pouches or other mags.

TaroBear December 20th, 2012 16:19

I should have done this first, but I just noticed that the rear nubs actually have screws inside the Marui/MAG nubs. Those should probably be unscrewed first. The G&G doesn't even bother with them.

Seeing this is making me feel crushed that my 552 has been down for so long! Arg! Okay so now that I am getting it up and running I remembered that I only have HI-caps cuz the MAG brand is so shitty. Where can I pick up some dummy round short and longs?

The MAGS are actually pretty decent if you're willing to put in the work for them...they feel more solid than the Maruis. The G&G lowcaps look the best, if you want fake bullets.

Here is a teaser of my PGC P226 NAVY, It has been finished but I will do a full review with better photos after the holidays.

There is no describing how nice the finished results are, you have to see one in person for yourself!

I will also toss my gun rag in tech list and see if there's any interest in me building custom guns for others on ASC

Prepare your panties ladies. Yes that's a real Sig rail. Link to fullsize pic underneath.
Now just to find a battery solution.....I'm thinking maybe a PEQ box or something similar.

If they're skinnier than stick batts that might work.

EDIT: I got the stick stuffed in there, BARELY

Whoa, sweet. I bet that rail cost an arm and leg. I've gone with a PEQ box for my SIG...it's just too much of a pain in the ass, even on the G&G, to take off the handguard and pop in the battery.

On a side note, I tried mounting one of those plastic US Army bayonets on the front of the SIG last night. It fits perfectly.

Immelmann June 17th, 2013 15:28

Hey guys. Any idea on how to fix the triggerguard and prevent it from moving? I keep knocking it side to side and its getting kind of annoying.

Thanks!

I used several dabs of super glue to fix mine in place. It does the trick without being permanent because you can break the bond if needed.

Oh, I've wondered if anyone else had done this for years. It just seemed wrong to be gluing it so that it lost functionality.

Yeah I thought about it and I've never needed to use this function on this or any other gun. I figure that if I ever need to move it I can just force it and break the glue because it's weaker than the metal.

MAG/chinese 100 round midcaps work great. You have to slightly modify them to fit, let me know if you need help with that.

I just deal with it. It's not a big issue to me, and doesn't happen too often.

Styrak July 10th, 2013 14:42

Night game setup. However I forgot to put my tracer unit on as well.
Recently I've been using a battery bag with a large 8.4v, but I ordered and just received the G&P PEQ II with an 8.4v large inside. It's a little more solid and in-place which is nice.

Got my MAG 100 rounders the other day...

They're an absolute perfect fit, no modification needed!

Next up is optics. I'm just going to be getting a 4x Acog or Elcan style sight for it. Whats the current best for clones of those models?

That's nice to hear about the mags. I wasn't looking forward to hunting for the files.

Make sure you get the G&G mount. Good luck finding one though; I eventually gave up and had to order from ASGI. The shipping and brokerage cost more than the frighten part. Didn't help that they packed a 5 inch long rail in a 12" x 12" x 12" box.

I'm using a Tasco 30mm red dot, and it actually looks pretty good. Still, it's sexier without stuff on it ;)

Edit: TMs came today. The pictures don't do them justice, but man, these things are just beautiful. Worth every penny of the $37 I paid for each.

Bump.

Anyone have any feed issues with the MAG brand mags? They click in just fine without modification, but feeding is really inconsistent.

Tanith_Ghost July 30th, 2013 23:46

Can I join the club? I got a ICS SIG 551 and a TM 552 :D I show the TM a little more love than the ICS tho, love using the TM 552 for CQB games it's a beast.

On a few G&G Sigs I've seen, you have to enlarge/file the feed tube slightly. Just basically run a knife/razor around the inside top edge of the feed tube to make sure it's smooth and slightly tapered.

Immelmann July 31st, 2013 01:49

Nothing with the end that actually sticks into the mags?

I meant the end of the feed tube that sticks into the mag.

Unless you meant the 'too' when you're looking at the gun upside-down!

Again, yes that is what I mean by feed tube. What sticks out of the mechbox and into the mag. That's what the feed tube is.

Hey guys. Will a TM SIG scope mount work on a G&G?

Strelok April 4th, 2014 15:27

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...psdc308ed1.jpg

To answers last years question.

No, it won't.

Not without a repetitive strain injury and a metal file at least! I got my mount to fit and a nice scope to go with it. Now to get that R-hop installed.

Just curious to see what everyone uses in place of standard iron sights, but I dont want to mount an optic thats going to rely on a battery that will eventually die.
