MaybeStopCalling March 4th, 2012 18:19

If anything... I could see stuff ordered from now on clearing more slowly than it used to.

Gunny_McSmith March 4th, 2012 18:23

Still laughing.

Possibly explains why a couple of my US orders aren't here... and may never get here.

Dynamo March 4th, 2012 19:36

maybe someone's LIPO went incendiary and took it out. anyone had LIPOs on the way?

Eeyore March 4th, 2012 19:39

The article said they were charging a truck battery and it caught fire. So you were close.

MaybeStopCalling March 4th, 2012 19:45

CTV is reporting that it was the warehouse where imported goods are kept before inspection...

AFAIK it's one of several inspection facilities across Canada. I'm from the GTA, so I've had most of my packages go through there, aside from the occasional one that for some reason went through Pointe-Longue in Quebec.

Conker March 4th, 2012 20:05

I'm in Quebec city. 99% of the stuff I get from the US and from Asia was going thru the Missisauga facility.

Daiviet March 4th, 2012 20:17

My condolences to all who have packages currently being inspected through that facility. It's going to be a shitty few weeks to try to sort out claims for destroyed packages, and even shittier time trying to find irreplaceable items.

jerryman692 March 4th, 2012 20:17

My question is ,did everything come down from the plane they goes there?

Kokanee March 4th, 2012 20:19

Crap, have a few packages inbound from other countries...

COL.TIKER March 4th, 2012 20:27

So if my Canada post tracking was this:

"MISSISSAUGA International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs"

The package is gone?

SHaKaL March 4th, 2012 20:28

Yeah... think so... sorry mate

Eien March 4th, 2012 20:32

Genuine :) I don't go for the replica stuff anymore. I'm hoping it didn't go through there or was stored there though.. fingers crossed.

Conker March 4th, 2012 20:38

Damn that sucks man... I hope it wasn't stuck in there :s
Stuff like that may get refunded if it was insured... but doesn't do much as it's not easy to find it again :/

@Kaiu: Got refenrence on that info?
Not that I don't believe you, I'd just like to get confirmation so I can sleep tonight and not worry my oh-shit-I'll-never-be-able-to-find-that-again package may or may not have disappeared.

COL.TIKER March 4th, 2012 20:41

Who do I contact for insurance compensation? Canadapost?

Kwokwai March 4th, 2012 20:53

Face palm.

I think I might have some stuff from HK that might've been in there waiting clearance.

johjoh March 4th, 2012 21:06

Shirley March 5th, 2012 01:43

Holy shit. Mine was arrived there on the March 2nd.
Off to calling them tomorrow then.

Short Round March 5th, 2012 02:41

I'm right there with Kaiu. I can verify that CP has CBSA agents at their facilities in Mississuaga. Had that location been the one in the news, I'd be hearing about it since my uncle works there.

Your packages are all fine unless you didn't go with CP, which in that case, good luck.

Deadpool March 5th, 2012 09:37

Just got off the phone with CBSA.

The warehouse that burnt down hasn't got anything to do with Canada Post. All our packages are that came with CP are all safe and sound. The agent told me that there are about 3 dozen warehouses like that operated at the mississauga airport that are operated by private companies.

Stealth March 5th, 2012 09:42

Had a package come through Mississauga on March 2.

Package went to Richmond Hill this morning for delivery.

ILLusion March 5th, 2012 11:46

Shit... I have a large shipment being held in Mississauga for a while now, apparently awaiting inspection...

Blackthorne March 5th, 2012 11:58

WOW. We just got the last of our packages in for Many To One a day or so ago!

LUCKY!

turok_t March 5th, 2012 12:03

I had a shipment too that had to b inspected for the past 2 weeks. I just called CBSA and the told me that our packages were not affected by the fire. Our packages are stored at the Canada post warehouse. I was also notified that CBSA does random checks and not all packages.

Hummm...My post seems invisible in this thread...

Stop panicking that warehouse has nothing to do with CBSA's canada post warehouse.

I repeat: CBSA has assured me that the packages being inspected for Canada Post are all safe.

No, it's not invisible. It just doesn't apply to my situation. UPS is my carrier.

And the warehouse wasn't UPS's warehouse.

There's 3 dozen of those privately operated warehouses, and this one was for a small shipping company from what the agent told me.

1 million dollars sounds like a lot. But for a shipping company, it's about 1 to 2 full semi-trailers. So, it's must be a very small company that was using that or it was practically empty.

ILLusion March 5th, 2012 13:20

Awesome. That's good news, then. I tried calling my broker a few times this morning, but just kept getting a busy signal. I figured everyone was freaking out.

turok_t March 5th, 2012 19:44

Woohoo! My parcel cleared Mississauga customs today :)
