flying betty
i have started a project of building a plate to turn your average tornado grenade into a spring launched mine basicly springing it up and detonating it about 2 feet off the ground
now i dont own a tornado (yet) so i started by finding a bottle (pediasure)that is the same size, and making it weigh the same (filling it with fiberglass and some scrap metal so it weighs the same) pics to folow as i go ps if sombody wants to donate me a tornado it would make this build go alot faster |

it will have a tripwire pin system simaler to a real one, it would be no less safe then having one thrown into a room you are in its going to be a spring platform with a trigger cable for the grenade (timed tornado) and in theory the spring releasing should set off an impact one,
|
I believe he means a Bouncing betty ... which the AI kit for their own grenades was just supposed to be a refit to the pin/arming end of their grenades far as I saw from the vids.
the flying 40mm is a whole different ball of worms ;) and one I eagerly away I must admit |
We had bouncing betty AI grenades 3 years ago... It is basically a modified tent stake, a rod, some wire, and an AEG spring. They are impractical. But good luck with your project!
PS: Scary as shit in practical application (demonstration). |
Isn't it the timed AIs that if you forget to put the plug in on the top they burst as soon as you pull the pin?
Easy enough to put a nade on a guide rod with a spring held by the release pin, then tie a wire on it... will work for sure, no need for extra contraptions... |
^^ yup lol they blow up in your face as soon as you release the spoon if you forget the little plug! LOL happened to me in a game! :P

base is almost finished, just need to add some weight and get the spring.
arms will lock the spring plate down, and the MK1 trigger cable is just some hemp rope (stolen from my wife's beading stuff) if the project works everything will be upgraded and made out of metal with steel cable |
cant wait to see it in the field bud
|
you can set it off if you loan me a timed tornado to set it off with
|
let me guess you got this idea from MW3?
|
no i dont own any modern warfare games, i am a huge history buff and was at a large game on the 3rd of december, and we had to defend an objective, and they would have been realy handy. the first immage i saw of one in action was in a documetary on the canadians in bosnia
|
ok so i had to switch out the trigger mec. the shprings were to powerfull for the tab system i made, so now it has a center pin with a pull tab, like a grenade however the it takes alot of force to pull the pin. i have tried silicone lube, and WD 40 but they didnt help, any ideas, updated pics soon as i find the camera, or charge my phone
|
had to swap for a different style triggern but the pin is very hard to pull
