Huang's MK18II 7" Rail system

Hello,

Recently bought Huang's MK18 II 7" Rail system as well as a correct Madbull barrel collar for G&P/WE receivers.

However, I can't seem to be able to install it.

First, the rail seems to be about 1/4" too long...

PS : Don't tell me I have to remove the delta ring and all that crap. I know. 'just lazy right now for pictures.

Also, there is 6 holes on the rail systems as well as 6 screws, but only 5 holes on the thingy that sits between the barrel collar and the receiver.

What am I doing wrong here?

Remove the delta ring and all that crap. Otherwise I don't see how else you're going to get it on.

Qlong October 10th, 2011 11:13

Take off the front triangle sight, that system is designed for low profile gas blocks.

Boyso October 10th, 2011 11:31

Even if it's 7"? I thought it could fit like this :

Coresair October 10th, 2011 11:35

is it really pin point 7"? could be a problem.

I am about to install a DD 12 rail for my ICS M4, which is a similar situation to what you are trying to accomplish. For this mod, my outer barrel is 14.5", which is I've been told a standard M4 barrel length. I will be using a low profile gas block, which is probably small enough to fit inside the rail.
I am not too sure, but it appears your rail length is different than mine. What is your outer barrel length?

5.56 October 10th, 2011 11:41

Looking at your recent picture, looks like you need to remove the handguard cap behind the front sight. Looks like that .25" right there?

Boyso October 10th, 2011 11:58

No I removed it before.

I installed it. To install it you ha e to remove everything.

Qlong October 10th, 2011 12:24

That rail is 7.5 inches, not 7.0 inches. If it was actually 7, it would have worked. I should have mentioned this before.

Shirley October 10th, 2011 13:51

That is a 7.5.

And I'm pretty sure you can tell right away the front cap won't fit on as the rail wan't meant for that.

Damnit.

Should've researched a bit more I guess.

The MK 18 rails come with their own barrel nut that may need an optional nut tool to tighten it.

If you want to use the existing delta ring then go with the DD OmegaX rail which is designed for the stock delta ring. Just ask Huang to measure the OmegaX 7" end to end.

I run a Madbull MK18 9.5" and scrapped the heavy triangle sight and went with flip ups which looks much nicer. It also makes for easy service in the future. The rail slides off and easy access to the barrel. If you use the triangle sight, you need to hammer out those two tight pins holding it into the barrel.

Be nice. I am sure Huang would have mentioned it if he knew it. He does value everyone's business. If you have been to his store, I doubt he has the time to test everything he brings in.

I always ask Huang to verify before I buy and everything I bought from him works great.

This MK 18 is not a true Madbull DD, so dimensions and fit could be different.

Boyso October 10th, 2011 21:47

Nah I always buy from Huang and love the quality of his service and items. But it's like buying size 10 shoes and receiving size 11 shoes...

Qlong October 10th, 2011 21:58

Send him a PM on the issue, he takes an effort to adjust descriptions, bring in and what not to bring in based on our comments.

SuperHog October 10th, 2011 22:01

Sometimes it is good to ask. I am sure Huang will take care of you on issues like these. He has no control of the China design and qc.

Some people bring their guns (cased) to airsoft stores to verify fitting before buying.

Boyso October 10th, 2011 22:20

Yeah edited my post. Sorry if it was rude.

SuperHog October 10th, 2011 22:55

Never said it was rude, just not nicely said.

Boyso October 11th, 2011 18:10

Yeah I agree.

Sent him a PM.

Thanks for the help.

huang October 12th, 2011 14:12

The rail is exact 7''. I think the issue maybe the madbull barrel nut probably 2mm longer thant the stock one.Hence there is small gap between the rail and the ring.

This rail 's stock barrel nut fits AEG only which is bit smaller than the GBBR.

Shirley October 12th, 2011 14:27

I've compared the barrel nuts for Daniel Defense rails.

Basically, the Madbull one is smaller which will work on GBBRs.
The AEG clone ones are longer a bit to fit AEG barrels.

If you throw on the AEG barrel nut onto the WE GBBR, the barrel will be loose.

As for the front end cap as I stated before. It won't fit on the DD Mk18 rails period.

This is the RS version. Notice no end cap.

Basically, remove the end cap, and keep your triangle sight.

I measured mine, and it was 7.5"... hmm..

Also to Lanny, there actually is no real version of this rail, it's a shortened MK18 RIS II but what you have in the picture is a DD 7.0" Lite Rail.

Mine is also 7.5" in length.. I measured mine at Huang's store and when i got home. Both the included barrel nut and the one from madbull works perfectly.. the only thing about this rail is that the threads strip really easy and may not align with the rail of your upper receiver. So I highly suggest that you do not install/uninstall the screws repeatedly. Might need to modifiy it to make it fit better.

SuperHog October 12th, 2011 16:03

I have a Madbull MK18 9.5"rail that does not line up with the receiver rail either. But the threads are precise and tough. Had the rail off many times and no sign of wear.

I run the Magpul flip up sights. If you like the stock triangle sights, there are triangle mounts for a rail as well.

Nortus October 12th, 2011 17:36

I found huang's copy doesn't line up with the receiver but the Madbull one (Daniel Defense Licensed) lines up perfectly. I have huang's MK18 9.5 rail and Madbull's 12.5". A bit disappointing since the whole point of this rail system is to get an uninterrupted upper.

Be warned.

Like I said in the first post, I just didn't take off the cap for the picture. It was off when I installed it. But my point was to run with the Triangular sight. It's kinda ugly a 7(.5)" rail system with a low profile at the end of it and all that on a 14.5" barrel.

that is why I run a 9.5" rail to cover more of the barrel.
