Ak5C Petition
Hi Guys,
I know Swedish camouflage is quite sought after, and I know a few guys on this forum use it also... This post is especially relevant to those people who use M/90 camouflage and/or own a G&G GF85 Airsoft gun... Since 2006, the Swedish Armed Forces have been issuing the Ak5C. Here is a photo of the gun in question: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...e/AK5Cesar.JPG The Ak5C adds a number of improvements to the Ak5A rifle. Most notably being: New handguard with RIS Rails for Grips, Flashlights and Laser systems Collapsible and folding stock Shorter barrel, designed for better handling in Urban combat and CQB Upper receiver rail for the mounting of the issued Aimpoint CS Red dot optic Integrated Flip Up Iron sights A bolt catch New STANAG compatible Waffle magazines made of clear Polymer Barrel sling mount G36K style flashhider Right side safety selector In 2010, the Airsoft Manufacturer G&G decided to release their GF85 Airsoft gun, which is supposed to replicate an Ak5 but misses out on several of the smaller features which makes the Ak5A differ from the original FNC. Many Swedish airsoft players have been after the Ak5C and some have even taken to scratch building the parts needed. I have since decided to start up a petition for G&G to produce the Ak5C, as either an out of the box, ready to fire airsoft gun, or as a conversion kit for their existing GF85 series rifles. Here is the link to the petition: http://www.petitiononline.co.uk/peti...rsion-kit/3223 I am in contact with Daniel from Airsoft.nu, a Swedish Airsoft news and reviews website and they have featured the petition and myself in a news article, unfortunately it is only in Swedish but you could try Google Translate if you don't happen to know the language: http://www.airsoft.nu/nyheter/2011/0...du-ha-en-ak5c/ Airsoft.nu is in contact with G&G asking about new product suggestions and they have requested the Ak5C a few times, but they haven't produced it. Hopefully with the petition attracting signatures from all over the globe, it may show G&G that producing the Ak5C will be worthwhile and we may get the gun which we are after. I thank in advance, those people who sign the petition! It has only been running for 3 days and it already has 60 signatures, and I hope we will be able to reach the 1000 signature mark by the end of the year! Again, thanks very much! /Josh |
Signed! Good luck with your petition man!
Glad to support a fellow airsofter :P |

It is good to have the confidence boost Kit, and it is good to have you on the petition! I'll also inquire about an M203 mount, for all those people who are fond of the 40 mike mike launchers... Thanks again, /Josh |
That's the version G&G should have built.
I used to play on an M90 wearing team. The AK5C would look perfect for them. |

Why they decided to build the obsolete version, I don't know, but I have a feeling it they wanted to appeal to the Northern European market, so when they released their FNC rifles, it was easy enough to design a new Ak5-like handguard and paint the guns green... However, G&G's GF85 misses out on a lot of the smaller parts that have been changed on the Ak5: The Front sight ring Cocking handle - Should be a round knob Magazine release button - Should be a circle Pistol grip - should be smooth - not ribbed Apparently the rear sight is slightly different also... I have seen people with scratch built versions of the handguard, fitted onto a star FNC, and it is possible to fix these part's yourself, but I really think that G&G aught to had paid more attention to detail, like they usually do. I hope that if this conversion kit is released, we should get replacement parts for all the ones G&G missed out if it will be released as a conversion kit, and pre fitted if it is a ready made gun. Thanks, /Josh |
I signed the petition.
So surprising G&G didn't put much effort into their AK5. Their version of the Finnish RK95 is fantastic! They really should redeem themselves and do a proper AK5C. For anyone with an interest is the Swedish airsoft scene, here's a link to their forum: http://airsoftsverige.com/ It's all in Swedish, of course, but a good browser will help with built-in translation options. |

The Valmet Rk95 they did looks fantastic, however I don't think there is a scope mount for it yet, as the Finnish field the weapon with ACOGs and the Aimpoint CS, the red dot which the petition is also campaigning for... I do think that the GF85 was somewhat lazy, however it hasn't diminished my opinion that G&G is the best manufacturer because of the range of guns they produce and the high level of quality of their products... Thanks, /Josh |

It'll probably be a few months before they produce any prototypes, they're looking for more photographs and even real weapon parts to model it on, I'm getting in contact with people for them so stay frosty and you'll probably hear something about it later on this year! /Josh |
It doesn't help matters that the AK5 is such a fluid design - constantly evolving. That's no surprise given the Swedish Forsvarsmakten has no previous combat experience, and are just learning in Afghanistan what works and what doesn't.

I think the AK5C will probably be in service, until about 2020, the MARKUS (Future Infantry Program, similar to IdZ and Future Force Warrior) soldier of 2015 is depicted with an AK5C... I read somewhere that it cost the Swedish military more to upgrade the AK5 to C standard than it would be to completely switch to the G36, I'm not sure how true this is though... /Josh |
signed! sexy rifle. and it is green which is absolutely awesome.

That folding/collapsible stock on the AK5C looks like it must be expensive to manufacture - certainly when compared to something simpler, like the injection molded IdZ stock planned for future G36s. The Aimpoint scope probably accounts for a good chunk of change too. Any parts specific to the AK5 would have to carry a higher price tag, given the limited production numbers. BTW, I have seen photos of Swedish SSG operators using various models of the G36, and I understand all Swedish troops get familiarization training with M16s and AK-74s. |
Signed, lets hope they start producing them

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net..._7368860_n.jpg When I start seeing Germans in the field with the new stock and things as standard, I'll change my G36 accordingly... I don't know the specifics, but I have seen the Swedish on exercise abroad carrying AKs, the Finnish RK95 and the M4 when they go out with the Americans. Yeah, the parts would probably be rather expensive, the civilian price for the Aimpoint is between $400 to $600... /Josh |

I am partly the reason for this, I have regular contact with G&G and I have been sending them a lot of information to assist their RD team.
The replica is actually in the pipe! :D /Josh |
Next up, find someone to make a makarov!
Good work, btw! |

Hi everyone, sorry to necro this thread.
As everyone knows, this petition was a success and during this time, guay2 have started to produce the AK5C to many Swedish milsimers delight (including myself, owns two copies of it atm!) Now me and my friend have started a own petition for the aimpoint CS red dot sight since there is'nt any substitute or replica for that sight and it's necessary to complete an Swedish soldier impression, so if as many as possibly could sign this I and a lot of milsimers would be grateful! https://www.change.org/petitions/gua...he-aimpoint-cs Sincerely Skuggraven |
