what goes in your vest?
subj.
I just got this webtex assault vest (finally). Absolutely love that thing. Can fit 4 G3 mags into mag pouches, there's one canteen pouch... and 5 other pouches i have no idea what to put in... any suggestions? |

In mine, I put gloves, balaclava, water botle, Radio(s), camera, spare BBs, map, mission specific objects. I use my vest as a transportation tool to bring all my stuff at once too. I can fit my kneepad and propane bottle in it. I have 2 Cmag pouches, that's why! |
Socks and Water. Tonnes of Water.
SInce I don't have a camel back, I carry around bottles and canteens. I also throw my spare mags in as well, and all the other essentials (radio's, compas, Flash light...) BTW, which Webtext Vest did you get? I'm looking into them for holding G3 mags and would love a first hand opinion. |
Quite simple :
BBs, bbs, more bbs and Batteries My standard machinegunner loadout is 20 loaded M-16 lowcaps PLUS a pair of 2500 shots box magazines PLUS 1 bag of BBs in my rear pouch PLUS a pair of mags for my handgun PLUS 4 spare batteries (damn m249 that only takes minis or custom batts). Oh, and like some said water, got a camelbak through, marvellous invention. |
Chicom Chest rig >>> 3 Lows, 1 Spets-Hi, socks as well =)
Nothing more, nothing less. Except maybe my 3L Camelback, thats all. |
It is up to what you want to carry. It will get heavy ,hot and uncomfortable if you carry to much. The mags sound like a good start, I havent played a game and i dont own a airsoft gun but i soon will. I do own tac gear tho and i have a "immatation" tac v1 vest.

Seven lowcaps, BB loader, and a 3L bladder. Pistol mags on pouches on vest and holster. Dump pouch on left leg.

Other stuff for the vest: I like a pair of sealskin goretex socks, mini survival kit, pogue bait, first aid kit, 550 cord and 100mph tape, radio, chemlights and compass. Oh, and don't forget an area map. |
Don't forget to put in a flask. I pack one around with water inside because most of the time I cannot get my canteen out of the canteen pouch easyely.

got a Milspex??not sure black tatical vest. what goes in the vest are 8 m16 hicap, 2 standard lenght of glock mag, 2 long mag for glock, 1 spare battery, radio BB container(holds 2400 BB's), red kill rag, lighter, cigarretes and camera
|
I carry, mags in there respective pouches, bb's in the grenade pouches, a radio, small first aide kit and, a map or any documents needed.
In the buttpack I carry a water bottle (until I can get some canteen pouches or a camelbak) extra socks, a few food items, sometimes a camera , and a coat if its colder out. A pic of my vest is here |

Can fit 2 G3 mags per mag pouch (it was made for 3 stanag mags). But those 2 fit nicely, and are easy to take out and put back in. The canteen pouch is rather in a bad place... but i doubt i'll be reach for it in a bb-fight :) |
Blackhawk omega, 6 M16 mags, maps, compas, radio, buttpack, canteen, bottle of water, camstick, bbs, first aid kit, survival knife, MP3 player, hand torch and some batteries for the radio, torch and MP3. Thats about it.
|
That depends on the vest...
TT Cross draw vest - pistol and pistol mags, rifle mags matching rifle I'm carrying, camera, first aid kit, camel back bladder, some snacks, utility knife and my radio. N00B vest - haven't worn it yet... CF OD webbing - not really a vest but it goes on like one... pretty much the same as the tt vest except I use a canteen instead of a camel back and a drop leg holster for my pistol. |

You can also pick up a camel back knock off at MEC, I'd recommend just grabbing the bladder. |
I use an Arktis 1601 assault vest, overal similar to the webtex i guess, design-wise.
4x mag pouches, hold 4 M16 mags each (can probably fit 3 G3 mags), or 2 AK74 mags (if you want it to close properly) 2x utility pouches (can hold a canteen or whatever other stuff) 2x small/first aid pouches 1x compass/multitool/pistol mag pouch 2x large/internal map pockets, one of which has a built-in holster carries 12 locaps, leaving one mag pouch free to carry extra crap (extra bbs, gatoraide bottle). If I need a compass, I use a small USGI lensatic compass, which i can stick into one of the firstaid pouches. I keep a Leatherman-style multitool in the multitool pouch if I'm outdoors. I can either keep a 1L canteen in a utility pouch, or my platipus in the hydration pack carrier. First aid kit in the other utility pouch if I'm outdoors. What exactly I carry really depends on when I'm playing and what gun i'm using (ie., i won't carry 40mm grenades if I'm not using the gun with the m203, i won't carry water if I'm never gonna be more than 100m from my backpack/basecamp, etc). Water is especially vicious; it's 1kg of weight for every liter of water you carry. So given the total weight of your loadout (gun, gear, etc) running around with 3L of water - an extra 3kg (almost 7 lbs) - in rough terrain, on a hot summer day, is going to make you more thirsty than if you just had a bottle of gatoraid with you to keep you hydrated. Your LBV shouldn't be used as a ruck sack. |
My vest, I just shove in 1 emergency P90 highcap on my back where the radio is supposed to go, a balaclava on the front, and my barrel plug is in there too =P. My other mags go in my drop leg pouch.
I wish I had a vest that could fit my P90 mags in the front. |
Mags, BB's, Canteen, sometimes smoke grenade, food, sometimes a flashlight
|
are you talking about just vest or vest/belt combo?
|
try putting a rain jacket in one of the pouches but dont bother with rain pants. first aid kit of some sort even if its just bandaids, electrical tape/ducttape, if you have small smoke grenade pouches they hold chocolate bars real good, ammo lots of ammo some sort of loading device to load all your ammo, water it gets hot out there so dont be skimpy with it if you can get to a surpluss store by 2 canteens and find a place on the vest where you can get to them but arent in the way if you go prone.
I think thats about it for my$.02 |
In my belt kit I carry ammo, water and basic E&E kit (hexi stove, basic rations and "survival" stuff). Thats it thats all. If I need more I put it in my bergen and leave it at base.
