Female Tactical Gear

My girlfriend is looking for a kit to come play with me. I'd rather not have her look like a sack of potatos with off the rack BDUs. I'm looking for a website offering something for females, so she can look good while having fun.

I found this website:

http://tacticalcorsets.com/

But I really wouldn't want to be in her shoes if she gets hit by a close range burst right below the neck.

Anyone got anything to suggest that would be somewhere in the middle?

stephenseth June 30th, 2010 10:03

plus those corsets are like 400 dollars...
My girlfriend is in the same boat. I will ask her the sites she just ordered from.

Donster June 30th, 2010 10:24

what about a ranger rack? its a one size fit all kinda thing. my gf is also thinking about trying out airsoft. this is what i would give her.

There are a lot of different options out there for women specifically. Were you looking for a particular color or camo?

Barbie June 30th, 2010 15:09

haha... she wont look like a sack of potato if she buys proper size.... lol i can only imagine a girl wearing the corset.... oh god... i dont know if you boys ever wore one, but it aint super comfy... and the sand.... or being shot on the arms or chest area.... lol besides, she would get harrassed by the guys... already it's happening, so imagine with that.... unless its what you want.... lol

Rotting June 30th, 2010 16:05

Properly fitted BDU with a duty belt to attach pouches would probably suffice and not look like a sac of potatoes, I'd think anyway.

I've seen a few people with just a duty belt tri-pouch droplegs and they're a shit-ton more mobile than a lot of the players I've seen. Also looks comfy since you're not horribly restrained by a vest or rig, but still have a good amount of capacity so you're not restricted for resources. I'd also assume that due to bust size, a vest isn't comfortable. I wouldn't want to imagine having more pressure then needed on the chest while in-game since sometimes it can be hard enough trying to breathe with less gear on (I'm also a smoker though).

If I didn't carry 15 fucking mags on me and two rifles, I'd probably opt for a duty belt with droplegs though, since you're not restricted any longer in terms of mobility on the upper half. Your legs wouldn't suffer much from droplegs, since they aren't horrifyingly restrictive, and even when they are, they aren't too bad. Used to run just with a belt and two drop leg panels with my old SiG setup, and being a thin build, it greatly increased mobility. Also considering females generally have less muscle mass, having a massive weight reduction from gear is probably a massive relief, since I've seen a lot of males with their setup sweating and huffing like pigs at the end of the day. Unless she's a tankette, it'd probably be brutal.

If she opted for the corset though, you could always invest in a semi-tight longsleeve shirt with a high neck line (Pretty much right below the chin) and/or wear a light neckguard. Wouldn't have to suffer the consequences of a close range bleeder on bare skin, and her neck would be protected.

Brian McIlmoyle June 30th, 2010 16:27

buy the BDU

in a proper size and then have it altered to fit her particular body type.. and she will look fine... Leave the pants baggy so she can move .. and take in the top to fit closer...

Why I have no idea... you actually want 30 basement dwelling mouth breathers ogling your girl?

Kid June 30th, 2010 16:28

Chicoms and similar styles of vest work fine on women.

BTW, Brian's right. Make her look like a dude so that none of us chairsofters do anything weird.

"Oui chef."
"Elle est belle hein?"
"Oui chef."

If she's busty a plate carrier will prettymuch be a no go.

God blessed my girlfriend with a pair of 32 GG's, well not really, she's 5"6' and 112 pounds, skinny girl huge chest, but I'm not complaining :D even though she will from time to time lol. unless you take out the SAPI plate it wont fit comfortably,

however my TT two piece MAV fit's perfectly. anything that sit's on the stomach will work just fine.

and don't get the corset dude, she'll think she's doing this for some sort of sick sexual preversion of your's and it will be demeaning, not to mention girl's can't really breathe or move in a corset.

or, if she likes the idea, get the corset, and post a bunch of pictures on ASC.

I agree with Barbie, wearing a corset on a field.... I wouldn't even try. 2 reason ; pain (because of the exposed part of the body) and the comfort. If you are not able to move properly with your equipment, you will have a bad day and a bad game... so I'm guessing she won't play again after an experience like that. Like others said, adjusted gear will look just fine (it's airsoft, not a runway).

IMO

Lorden July 1st, 2010 09:21

Hmm I'm looking at the 2 piece TT MAV and that's something to consider. With her bust size she couldn't fit in my CIRAS.

Here's what I got her to start with:

http://redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/ai...ster_Sling.htm

Since I had a lot of GBB SMGs, it's something we'll be able to share.

Definitaly going to take a look at the 2piece TT MAV in tan.

Barbie July 1st, 2010 14:07

hey... i wear a Ciras!!!! lol and i dont find i look like a giant hippopotamus.... lol i am comfy in it and it suits my need.... but i did not strat with that, a vest was fine.... but like milee said, it aint a runway... And trust me, some of these guys can be, well, annoying... No matter if you think she is pretty or not.... If she really wants to play, she'll opt for something comfy and usefull, if she just wants to flaunt in front of the boys, well, your in for trouble.... lol

Lorden July 1st, 2010 16:16

She's not the flaunting type. I am though

But yeah, I'm looking at light-weight type harnesses that I can use too in a CQB role. My CIRAS is HOT in summer.

Kokanee July 1st, 2010 16:23

Have you considered building her a set of webbing? You could put together a US ALICE set for cheap, then once she gets into the sport you could look into a nice web set made w/ HSGI, or London Bridge components etc.

Webbing should allow her freedom of movement but still get the job done load carriage wise.

vondnik July 1st, 2010 16:29

She's there to play airsoft or do a fashion parade?????

Drake July 1st, 2010 17:43

Yeah, seriously.

It sounds like you're setting her up to be a liability more than an asset for the team she's on. I dunno where or whom you play with; if its just small games with buddies then whatever.

But if you're coming out to organized events, while you and a small handful of people might get a chuckle out of it and think its cute, you'll find its a great way to get the bulk of serious players annoyed with you in a big hurry.

BDUs: they're standard. Get the right size and they'll fit properly. Its not hip hop fashion, its not supposed to wear baggy. Get a combat shirt instead of a BDU blouse if you're worried about heat.

Vest: get a basic vest or something useful for the gun she's using.

Boots: seriously, were stiletto heels ever an option being considered?

Goggles/shooting glasses: I think most women prefer the Bolle T800s since they're a bit smaller.

Gloves: Mechanix are cheap and will protect from impacts.

Mouthguard: You probably don't want a gf missing a bunch of teeth. Protechs are small and comfortable.

Hydration: a Camelbak or something is useful. Teach her to hydrate properly.

Additional requirements will become known as needs develop.

Lorden July 1st, 2010 19:16

Wooooooooo I think you guys misinterpreted what I was asking for. I'm not looking to dress her up as a showgirl. I was just asking advice on what the other female members were using as kit. Obviously the corset is not appropriate for skirmishes.

I'm sorry if I ruffled any feathers with the local players (altough I'm kind of wondering how)

After some testing tonight, we realized that she welts VERY easily from shots that barely leave a mark on me. So I think we'll end up going for more rather than less kit.

I wouldn't have.

Get this with the burka. Great for M11 mags.

Or get a chicom for AK mags.

I'd rather have her know right now than wanting to leave a half-hour into a skirmish.

I already ordered http://redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/ai...ster_Sling.htm for her M11A1 since it's also a sling. It'll also fit the MP5K in case she'd rather use that. I'm looking into all suggestions though. I can never have enough spare kit to loan to friends.

Kid July 1st, 2010 19:34

That SMG vest is pretty big... it'd probably take MP5 mags.

I'd rather a girl found out that it hurts to get hit when she's having fun playing airsoft, rather than when she's sitting at home on a computer chair scared as you count down the seconds before you shoot her.

:D

Actually, I didn't give her any warning :D She WAS down the stairs and wearing the mask though. Safety first!

Assault Pioneer July 1st, 2010 20:52

ok Kid, stop what you doing right there, your makin me question your resolve around women.

Lorden, TT MAV, and if you were joking about the corset thing in your first post you should have said so, then asked your question seperatly "In all seriousness what is the best vest/rig befitting to the female figure?"

women can fit prettymuch anything we can allbeit a few sizes smaller (hopefully, if not you should get her into jogging rather than airsoft) if she has a large bust as I said before get a rig that will rest on the stomach (and not that chicom style travesty Kid pointed out there, it looks like it would take up an entire torso). if she has a normal female figure go ahead with a plate carrier you may have to take the sapi plates out to make it comfortable as vests were made with the males squareish torso in mind not the hourglass shape of a woman (again, hopefully).

*and no I will not throw up pictures of my girlfriend in full kit you sicko's

if she's only toting a Mac11 then she won't need much, that shoulder harness will do.
