RAS stands for Rail Accessory System and RIS stands for Rail Interface System. They are pretty much the same thing. RAS is a free float as opposed to RIS. Since RAS is connected straight to the receiver, it tends to be more stable than RIS, which is connected to the delta ring.

I think I got it right...

he's got a screw-on type handguard system of some sort by the look of it. doesn't come with the normal delta rings.

It's a fake delta ring....I have one.....it just dont have the spring to fit handguards on it like with the C8.

Make sure you have the ring tool to remove and affix the new one.....I dont think you can use anything else but.

Take a close look at mine and you can clearly see the ring near the upper.

Oh crap your right...

So i just need to buy a delta ring basically?

ex May 31st, 2010 19:40

EDIT>
Yes you need a working Delta Ring

Brokenwings May 31st, 2010 19:40

Also, i can remove the "fake delta ring" by just unscrewing it. *then the outer barrel is free to come off) no need for a tool

Brokenwings May 31st, 2010 20:07

Alright thanks guys :) really informative, i think i'll stick to RIS (ones that just attach to the ail on the receiver) for a better hold, and easier upgrade.
