need help finding this.
this is the MOLLE vest Major Briggs use's in the movie 'the green zone' (LETS NOT TALK ABOUT THE MOVIE IN GENERAL)
I'm looking for this one in question, I've narrowed it down to a few, but maybe you guys have all ready done some leg work. one small indifference is I'll be modding it with M4 mag pouches not the MP5 ones ... although i especially like the pistol MOLLE. here are two pics. http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/7730/19252615.th.jpg http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/924...zone017.th.jpg thanks a lot guys. i look forward to getting some help from you all. thanks again. |
Looks like a RRV. Without seeing the back, and the fact that its black makes it hard to tell exactly... but its pretty similar.
|
Nope, not an RRV. Look for "Voodoo Tactical Chest Rig" in google.
The team leader in the movie "The Objective" wore the same piece of kit as well. Not sure how good Voodoo Tactical is, quality wise, but thats the vest you're looking for. |
I disagree. It look like a black RRV over a bulletproof vest.
|
I concur with novakayne... it looks like a voodoo tactical chest rig.

The quality is ok overall. Stitching is good, but the buckles are a bit week. |
I've never used Voodoo, but I've taken a serious look at it. One Shot Tactical has some of their gear iirc. For the stuff I've seen and held, it seems pretty good.
Just my 2c. |
Shoot FarmBoy a PM and see if he has any and what his thoughts are on it.
|
Looks like Serpa holster on the chest, SOG Seal knife on the left shoulder too, if that helps!
|
Dude... I have the Voodoo tac Chest rig... and you may have a point. I was at work when I saw the pics and for whatever reason couldnt enlarge them. deffo looks like it though... its got the buckles on the shoulder straps and the little quick release thingy in the front...which BTW is a royal pain in the arse! Which is why I've tied mine up with para cord and have it held together with a molle pouch.
Here's what it looks like when holywood aint makin' it pretty: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/gallery...2_itemId=53432 and here: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/gallery...2_itemId=49904 |
Further.. deffo the SOG seal knife... I have that too, just got it for my B-Day : ) But you could get the same look with the RRV i think... Its got me looking at alternatives, but then again, Im a gear whore : P
|
wow thanks a lot.
yea, i've been looking at the one from voodo tactical. but the gun holster, and the knife i had no idea.. seeing how the top of the pistol holster was open, i thought it would be easier to find, but it was a bit harder. for a while i just thought it was a swat style vest and again not seeing the back made this even harder to distinguish. i'll take a look with all these suggestions. |
On an off topic note...I think having that ACOG on the MP5 is fucking stupid.
|
that MP5 as a whole is fucking stupid.
but then again, i wouldn't be caught dead in war with anything smaller than a 7.62 and my weapon of choice is the alexander arms Beowulf. the Grendel is nice too. |
9mm in a theatre like Iraq is a no-no (side-arms not withstanding) as they simply do not have the punch of 5.53 or 7.62. Vehicle ops are common and a 9milly wont do much against Toyotas and Nissans.
|
there is a 7.62 MP5 ... HK tries to make all their guns as versatile as their uses.
but if i were to use an MP5 it would be a MP5 navy. i mean he's got the tac light, so why use an MP5A3 ? |

i don't how you guys are able to make such deffinite conclusions.. without seeing the back especially.. if the movie didn't suck so hard i'd try to watch it again in slow mo so i could maybe get better pics...
but i won't.. and i'll just take your word for it. the RRV has been on several websites and is a pretty nice looking vest. as long as it's black ;) and the voodoo tac vest is nice aswel. hrmmmm maybe i'll just buy both of them :P lol it would be nice to find a website that has the sheeth, pistol holster, and the vest that way i can save on shipping. thanks guys, you've made this so much easier than the way i was doing it. thanks farmboy for replying on here rather than PMing me i appreciate it. |
After looking closely, it look like a RRV but with the buckles and the added molle shoulder straps.
a typical RRV does not have the buckles near the front bib and not as much MOLLE attachements on the shoulder straps. Like this vest. http://aqar.no-ip.org:8080/Can_sniper.jpg http://le-foyer.eu/images/Image/viper/ak-mag-pouch.jpg |
hmm .. that's nice too .. viper tactical? what site did you pic that from?
and what's the name? |
The sniper pic, I got it somewhere on the net. I tried to re-find the maker of the vest, but I can't remember who.
As for the viper tactical, if bummed the pic off another thread here. Check their website, they sell it. |
yea i was just on viper.uk.co .. and they don't seem to ship to Canada or us or at least they don't list any distributor's.
they have a few really nice ones, i just googled viper vest, and in images saw a few that caught my eye. this isn't what we were looking for, but speaking of nice viper vests, check this bad boy out. http://www.a5og.net/product-retailer...at-system.html |
I still prefer the RRV.
It's a proven and popular desing. |
know anyone with an RRV?
are there any retailers on here? i've only found reviews. or OD i want Black. |
Its not an RRV.
In the second picture, notice the little strap in his groin area. The RRV does not have that. Just above that strap, notice the gap between the middle PAL webbing rows. Indicating a split front design. Again, the RRV is not a split front design. Zoom in real tight on the MP5 pistol grip. If you look real close, you can see the top part of a D ring. You can also see that D Ring ACAFD in the first picture. In the first picture. Look center of mass, just below the glock about an inch. If you study it enough you can make out a strap that is connected to a buckle. Again...the RRV does not have this strap. With the above stated criteria, check out the picture below to confirm that the vest used in the movie is in fact the Voodoo chest rig. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...50_FileJPG.png Sorry...i'm a stickler for detail. Take the time to do the proper research and pay attention to detail. |

so this isn't an RRV? what is it then IIRC? so far this vest is the closest i've seen. from what i can gather since you only mention the voodoo chest rig than maybe it is one of those. if so, then i'll be more than delighted to buy one ;) thanks. thanks a lot. |
OK...the "mainstream" company that makes that style of vest is SOTECH. SOTECH BLoCS line. Navigate your way through www.sotech.com and look through their "Government" kit line. I have one of their Go Bags and their quality is pretty good so if you're really considering buying this rig, don't buy the clone, but the real deal.
The chest harness itself doesn't come with the padded modular shoulder straps like seen in the picture I posted earlier but you can buy it separately at least. As for the MOLLE/PALS webbing bib, not quite sure if it comes with one. Look around on the SOTECH site to find out if its a sold separately item. Happy hunting. |
That's the one I was searching for!
Damn! |
The only issue I have with this rig is the split design, its comfy as all hell, and I love it, BUT the split (at least on the Voodoo model) is held in place by a thick strip of velcro and a few snaps/buttons, which never sit right because of the velcro and thus comes undone all the time.
The other thing I've noticed is that (for me anyway) I cannot have mags in the far left and right slots or they'll bang into my hipbone all day leaving nasty cuts. I this might have more to do with the size of the rig.... I could have used a smaller size i think. |
the website that you linked me doesn't seem to work, but through the grace of the gods i've located the site.. thanks a lot guys:D you made this a lot easier.
