He's a bastard with a bad 'tude going on man. Sportin' his rifle and his gun.

(it can be removed for the final if desired ;))

Edit: A note on color here. If it is a four color job they are probably spot colors (single colors pulled from the Pantone library) vs. the 4 colors used in a process color job (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black). Process costs more than a couple spot colors. Interested parties can find more here: http://www.pantone.com/products/prod...=683&idArea=12

Having worked in a print/sign shop i'm betting its 4 solid colors not the cmyk as used for digital prints and gradations/color fades.

RE: Colors

I agree with a few opinions here on the color.

It's been a while scince I was in the Ad game, but if I remember correctly, 4 color is different from CMYK in the print process and approach.

4 color is 4 separate passes with 100% saturation. The actual colors are irrelivant. You get a color pallet from the printer, and pick 4 that you need and use them in your artwork. They hit the media (bag, paper whatever) like paint. NO shading or gradients.

CMYK is mixing of the 4 colors to give accurate color reproduction, including gradients shades. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black are mixed at different percentages to achive more realistic color reproduction.

Of course with DIgital printers these days, who know hat you can get in short run.

Anyone here work at a print house? Am I remembering correctly?

Penguin March 10th, 2006 08:34

4 colour is commonly done with silkscreen, or custom cut plates...

I think people should stop making entries until this is established.. because if it turns out not to be process colour.. almost all of the entries are invalid.

Scarecrow March 10th, 2006 08:46

Here is the scoop folks, its being printed on a white label, 8.8cm x 8.8cm and it IS a CYMK printing process. Sorry about the original dimensions, but it should be easy to scale your artwork up or down. I am dealing with people where english is a second language, so, hence some of the confusion.

So, it IS a color process, no worries Penguin...

P.S. They mentioned that they are 'cutting plates' for this, so it may be as simple as a CYMK lithopress. I have a friend who owned a printshop and she did some work for me over the years on it and its a messy way to print but the results are great.

Here is mine, only two colors used... I think it's enough.
