To you and anyone else who thinks it's necessary to go all out in some military uniform and tac gear, I don't think so.

I found out after trying several pieces of gear that I can't stand vests, things that hang on my legs, most slings and I find most boots to be way to overkill. That's just for gear. As for uniforms, I would feel like sort of a poser wearing a uniform I don't deserve and while it adds realism, I'm not for that but it's cool if others want to be. I'm about realism for my guns like metal bodies and such.

So if you see me out there in dress shoes/running shoes, dress pants or just any old pair of something and a sexy black shirt like Julian, it's not because I'm horribly prepared noob-softer, it's because I choose to and it is truley what works best for me. Not to mention stylish to me hehe.

And let us not forget pauv-softers. Mabey they can't afford gear. So don't judge a player by his gear.

Ha. That's the thing, people think their camo gives them such an advantage. It does especially shit all in day time at least when you're being looked at through my sights and at night, a moving blob is a moving blob. Camo may work for fooling the visually impaired but it doesn't do that much agaist someone who can make things out clearly at 100m distance. I'd say the only place camo becomes somewhat useful is in deep forested areas. But I should have mentioned, I don't play in any of those so it doesn't matter.

It is the person and only the person that makes the player. Not the gun, the attire, the gear or any other crazy accesories you can think of.

Where do you live? Where do you play? You need to come and play in the forest with grown ups, and then you will understand that high heels and a tutu just won't cut it. DOnt be an ass preston. Rumpel is right. If uniforms are uncomfotable, they are not a necessity. this is a game, not cadets, not the military. If you wanna wear uniforms, go for it. Some people dont like being decked out for hours on end, in big boots, and army clothes. dont agree witht hat? too bad. to each his own.

I guess I see both their points of view because camo in a speedball field is virtually useless. Quick movement and cover fire mean more than concealment. We play in both speedball and bush so camo comes in handy in the bush. So, depending on where you play will dictate what you should wear. We do play a miltary simulation so why not attempt to look the part.

You arn't anymore special than me because you play milsim. Key half word: SIM. Either way we are both playing pretend. I just don't want others assuming people are idiots or "noobs" because of the way they dress.

I find uniforms to usually be more rugged than regular clothing, so it can take more of a beating in the field; they won't tear as easily, and I don't mind getting them dirty. As for footwear, comboots are not always great. I prefer to have a light, breathable shoe...a Jungle Boot is alright for this, but you can find some lighter hiking shoes which do just as well (although they can get priceyer than army boots).

I find sidearms to be pretty superfluous; there is rarely a reason to put your AEG away (if your AEG is small enough) to draw your pistol, unless you're planning on humiliating someone. Fact is, a collapisble stock is, imho, better than carrying a pistol and mags as a fallback for CQB. The extra weight isn't worth it.

As for first time mistakes gameplay wise, I'd say not moving is a big one. Not playing tight is another. There's no point in staying in one spot unless you've got the perfect ambush set up, and even then, you only stay long enough to get your kill. AEGs aren't generally accurate at long range, so you need to move to get your kill. As for not playing tight, I find most people, even people who've been playing a while, tend to stick their elbows out when they aim, or stick their knees out while crouching...
