If I spent $3,000 on a bolt action rifle, it had better give me blowjobs while I wait for my shot.

DarkAngel August 19th, 2010 19:48

3k for a rifle is a bit much.

It better have NV included for that much.

Eldin August 19th, 2010 20:12

And a propane barbeque that folds out of the stock...

Integrated cookout gear and propane, along with a mini refrigerator to keep the dogs cool while gaming.

Snipers, getting hungry waiting for the enemy?
With the new cook-o-rifle, you don't have to!
Within seconds, get your barbeque going right out of the stock of your rifle!
Warning: Odours may attract hungry enemies.

Okay so including NVD and IR laser, I've spent $1850 on my rifle, and apart from a snazzy multicam paint job I haven't touched the externals.
But you can absolutely get in the $2200+ range once you get a bull barrel and new receiver etc.
However, for minimum upgrades; barrel & hop, staying at 380fps (tm triggers don't last long AT ALL above 400, but last around 2000 rounds at 380 for some reason)
You should get pretty good range and accuracy compared to the majority of AEG's out there. And thats like $160
Once you fork out another $300 for the cylinder set, and like 120-150 for a V-trigger, your set. You've got all the big pieces out of the way! Then you just need 2 barrel spacers and a scope. Maybe fill your stock with expanding foam, paint it up and your done!

The price varies greatly depending on the Generation/quality/make of your NVG. Russian Gen1 nvg's can cost like less than 100$, while high quality American Gen 3+ will set you back up to 3000$ on its own.

the_hellspawn August 19th, 2010 22:02

What wait, 3000$ for a sniper?

I've put the major upgrades I can think of in my TM VSR-10 and I'm far from a 3000$ bill

Here are the mods:
Laylax PSS10 Zero Trigger NEO CYLINDER SET
Laylax PSS10 Air Seal Damper Cylinder Head
Laylax PSS10 Ball Bearing Spring Guide
Laylax PSS10 Teflon Cylinder
Laylax PSS10 130 Spring
KA Bucking
MA 6.03mm Inner Barrel
3x TM Mags
EA 3.5x-10 Scope

Total ~575$

Total (with gun): ~1050$
What am I missing is there some king of top secret part I should know of? lol

edit: I know I shoud've bought another inner barrel/Add price with gun

DarkAngel August 19th, 2010 22:11

VSR's are cheap, as well as the upgades youve picked. Also you didnt include the gun price with your total.

Try a CA M24 Build using PDI.

Im barkin up the 1200 range without optics. NV's are a totally different ball game for price.

the_hellspawn August 19th, 2010 22:24

I cannot argue with you on that. I've never tried to upgrade a CA M24 before.

I cannot say that Laylax is cheap tough...200$ for a Zero Trigger and 100$ for a cylinder :s

Anyway I'm quite happy with the results

laylax are good upgrades for VSR, My Maruzen based PDI M24 already tits up is at $1950 and that's just for the gun alone add a seperate cylinder kit ($350) and extended inner and outer barrel ($450), spare mags and scope ($400)
My Killer studio APS2 is a total custom nut job fresh off the boat from japan fully tits up with full PDI internals, three seperate cylinders, outer and inner barrel, spare mags etc is already at $2300 without the scope.
So it is possible to go overboard, although the same fun factor can be had with a G&P SR25 with some minor upgrades for less, I don't know about the accuracy at 200+ft but the giggle factor is definitely there.

the_hellspawn August 19th, 2010 22:51

GOD!!!! I'll stick with my TM VSR-10...my wallet will thank me...and the wife too :p

Looks like a nice setup wildcard.

Some of the stuff we have is no longer available in the market that is why price was ridiculous. At the time when APS2 or the M24 comes out was way before the VSR in fact the killer studio Guns, PDI, Pro gear were at the time the bells and whistles of airsoft, if Systema were the BMW of airsoft at the time (1990-2000) Killer studio would be the loaded Maybach

You've been in the sport for a long time I see. I've started last year so my general knowledge in airsoft is limited. Thanks for this page of history wildcard.

My only wish sometimes are, let me be 15 years younger with my present salary and extar money to buy the newer airsoft products, the days of buying 6-10 V2 pro gear boxes a year would be gone and I can have all the bells and whistles on my gun without paying an arm and leg for it.

the_hellspawn August 19th, 2010 23:25

LoL, I've started at 29 so I don't have the money issue, but I have responsabilies thought (with 3 kids). Because of that, I've given myself a limit: 1 gun a year maximum. I go all out on upgrades thought :p

Yukon Gen1, with clear ballistic glasses it is far superior to Seekah using gen3 with fogged up goggles LOL
But it's nice, the fisheye can be annoying, but because it's gen 1 there is ZERO noise in the tube :)
