I would still say M60E4 based on the gas regulator/tube.

xandrewx's device has the same tube as the m60e4

where the Mk43's is a bit different:

Otherwise, not much external difference between the two, save for pending where I look, sometimes the stock on the e4 looks "longer" than the Mk43's. But eh, minor details. I was just more curious if Fox_111 meant xandrews M60 based gun or if there was a 249 pic somewhere there my browser doesn't see ;).

EDIT: I should note, that world.guns.ru lists the E4 and Mk43 as the pretty much the same weapon, the above is just notable differences when images are sought for each seperately.

Silly me... It's an M60 type machine gun. I was misguided by the look of the tacticool heatsheild and the awsome paint.

I'm not very knowledgeble in this class of weapon.

Meh, everyone makes mistakes. I was more interested to know if there WAS a 249 there I didn't see lol. Still working on the paint for mine, so helps to see more of em.

are these your guns or just pictures from the internet?

Viking January 28th, 2009 15:25

STAR calls it the MK43 MOD 0

http://www.wgcshop.com/WGC_Shop/imag...r_aeg_19_l.jpg

I would agree that the small differences between this and the E4 were not observed by STAR in an effort to save their company some money during production.

Anyone know how much this thing weighs?

The M60E4 and Mk 43 versions are roughly similar, although they are only part of the same family. While it might be fair to say that the Mk 43 are a type of M60E4, there are technical differences between any given M60E4 model. Early Mk 43s have certain differences over M60E4 from the same period, the most obvious being the duck-bill flash hider and different handguard. Current Mk 43s do not have these differences however, and the U.S. Ordnance website states in their FAQ, as of 2005, that the "M60E4 and the Mk43 are the same weapon system".
The Real M60 supposedly weighs 22 Pounds, so give or take around that ballpark.
for the Airsoft Version I think we can let xandrewx fill us in :)
