Alot of the Kit worn in the GWOT, on the Army SF / Ranger side is coming from Eagle Industries.

As you can see in the Pics, Coyote Tan / Ranger Green / and even some retro Woodland is still being worn.

Alot of latitude is given to operators on setting up their "Rig" as it works for them.

I wouldnt say theres any SET way to go to emulate / reinact their set ups.

im no expert but i do know from using my stuff on field ex's you could change how youve got stuff set up 20 times before you get it figured out, use the pics as a guideline, like aries_ranger said thiers no set standard

Also, greeside does not equal "urban ops in green environments". Big clue - helmets arent worn greenside.

Not that Iam into doing impressions of any particular unit , I just use what works best for where Iam. I have owned a helluva lotta gear but recently scaled it back. The way I see it the best option has been a plate carrier and another base rig (chest rig or molle lbe harness) I personally have 2 full sets of pouches (1 in coyote and 1 in od) that way I can use either base rig with the pouches I need for the terrain Iam in. It dosent matter what the color the base rig is because the pouches cover most of it up anyways. It costs a bit more in the long run but your gear will last you ages and it saves from buying a ton of different rigs.
Thats my take on things anyways :)
Currently Iam running with alot of different companies pouches because they all have something different but very usable.
Most of it is PPM or TT stuff but there are a few esstac , eagle , and supply cpt pouches thrown in.

If your just looking for Plate carriers Ravs and CIRAS will be fine, but as you stated SF tend to where their own thang, depending on region and ODA.

ThunderCactus August 23rd, 2008 22:57

Last pic, guy on the right, those almost look like Merrel hiking boots lol

Vince August 23rd, 2008 23:20

Merrel Sawtooth are pretty popular within many SOF

Beazer August 23rd, 2008 23:50

merrels.

Greenside 'm thinking the RLCS kit, in particular the RRS(or RRV), even though thats what they are wearing in Iraqistan, cept stay away from the CIRAS stuff.
But I've seen plenty of pics where guys are wearing the old lbv-88's with the belt kit, and the eagle tac-v vests in particular. However these pics may be a little older.
The thing with jungle is that less is more as the old saying goes.

I gave you the answer in the thread you created specifically for that. Why don't you go read there ?

aries_ranger August 24th, 2008 00:29

Those are in Fact Merrels.

Kit could be Eagle or paraclete, as they are the 2 Major suppliers to JSCOC and SOF.

And you dont see many, if any Army teams wearing DCU's in IZ anymore.

ThunderCactus August 24th, 2008 01:35

I used to own a pair of those actually :o

Another thing graham you may want to ask yourself.
Is this my outdoor rig. If so, ask yourself how much you crawl around through trees and shit. If the answer is plenty and lots the last thing you should be buying is a CIRAS.
If anything go Tiger 12 and get a chicom rig and a 6004.
