There's a story about screws for an M249 going AWOL.

Not everyone is firearm litterate, so some CBSA employees take stuff they shouldn't.

I think surebet has it right. I think it was just a mistake but regardless, they seized the parts. Now I'm working my way through paper work hell trying to prove that they aren't for use on an actual fire arm.
