Why do you need to buy them long, just to cut off the excess?

The quality of the real stuff is definitely a lot nicer than the replicas, the AirFlex pads are AWESOME when it comes to comfort. The replica pads have a harder and less flexible outer shell, so you tend to "roll" a bit when you take a knee before it settles in a stable position.

When it comes to the pants, the real stuff is a lot more durable, better stitching, tougher materials, etc... Everything you would expect when comparing the two. You definitely pay for the Crye name and the fact that they're made in the USA, I wouldn't gauge them to be worth what Crye puts the MSRP at... I personally prefer the cut and build of the generation 2 Combat Pants AC in comparison to the generation 1's or even the G3's. The knee pad pockets on the G3's seem to be stitched closer to the inside of your leg, so the pads slope inwards. The Combat Pants AC have the pads stitched more towards the center, edging on the outside of the leg so the pads slope outwards of anything. I find the outward slope keeps the pads in the most ideal position on my knees. Will likely sell my G3 pants to buy another pair of the Combat Pant AC's.

If all you use the pants for is airsoft, you can probably get a pair of replica gen 2 Combat Pants AC and pair them with some real Crye pads and you'll get the best experience possible for airsoft knee protection.

How are the Condor Knee Pads? Someone local has them for $28 +tax.

Cheers.

I think Arc'teryx itself is good for a airsoft or a daily hike/walking your dog... But Their Arc'teryx LEAF equipment is fucking horrible. its basically just their civi stuff with camouflage on it. I get it issued for work and nobody wears it because its shit.. I just returned my LEAF Limited Edition SV Atom hoody. They felt bad so they sent me their knee pads, a contact hat a huge fucking t-shirt. anyways.. I have no need for any of this crap... If anyones interested in the knee pads, let me know.. they are black. brand new from arteryx today. (11/28/13)

this what happens to all my arteryx stuff.. Its not designed for the military...
