Got a new rig today. CP gear modular split front chest rig and and shoulder harness. Very similar to a 2 piece MAV from Tactical Tailor. Pouches are Pantac for now, I want this to be a lot lighter than it is as it's currently set up. Going to go with a mix of BFG ten speed and HSGI stuff. This is just a quick set up to see how this thing rides. Love it so far.

Full Kit list:
CP Gear modular split front chest rig and low profile shoulder harness
Pantac double M4 mag pouches
Pantac Smoke pouch
Pantac MBITR pouch with Spartan dummy radio
Pantac MAP pack
Pantack IFAK

Here is what I run with, It's light and holds everything I need(except the wife). Also I like how the shoulder area is kept clear for easy movement for the gun and my arms.

In Airsoft nothing.

Real life, they would be used for breaching.

attack-beaver October 5th, 2011 22:11

most SOF groups to my understanding have stopped using shot guns and just demo charge doors and walls.

a co-worker that used to be in CSOR before he retired from the military informed me that shot guns were slowly getting replaced by demo charges. i never asked whos really into it.

however this is the only time ive heard this and never read anything about it but i feel comfortable believing his comment bears some level of truth.

Test preview for 2011 MSOB RBAV. I will basically use that same setup, but in SFLCS (MJK) on my RBAV (this was done just to make sure I get all the right pouches).
This is the pure direct action setup, so front is relatively sleek (less stuff to make crouching easier) and clean sides so I don't get stuck in doors lol. IFAK is in the fanny pack.

I'm also planning a long range patrol setup (with ruckpack) and an armed patrol setup (with an assault pack or MAP and more ammo on the 2nd line).

Everything shown here is FSBEII.

Nice rig, TM, and I love the patch!

MilanWG October 24th, 2011 19:16

The patch is the only reason I took the picture :)

Here is some background for those unfamiliar with the history:

WWII US FSSF (First Special Service Force) Uniform Group

The Devil's Brigade (also called The Black Devils and The Black Devils' Brigade and Freddie's Freighters, officially the 1st Special Service Force), was a joint World War II American-Canadian commando unit organized in 1942 and trained at Fort William Henry Harrison near Helena, Montana in the United States. The brigade fought in the Aleutian Islands, Italy, and southern France before being disbanded in December 1944. The modern American and Canadian special operations forces trace their heritage to this unit.

"Before officially choosing the First Special Service Force as their name, the unit was unofficially known as the Braves. Their spearhead shoulder insignia was chosen with this name in mind. The formation patch was a red spearhead with the words USA written horizontally and CANADA written vertically."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil%27s_Brigade

You can see SOF units rocking it/paying homage these days, for example:

Correction, US Army Special Forces and Canadian Special Operations Regiment share roots with FSSF. Other units trace back to other units, ie Rangers with Rogers Rangers, etc

Before CSOR, the Canadian Airborne Regiment traced back to FSSF, as well as the 1st and 2nd Canadian Parachute Battalions.

R1ghty October 24th, 2011 19:54

There are some cool stories about those guys.

I heard they would play mind-games with the Germans:
Sneak into enemy lines, knife everyone but the lookouts/those on watch. Then they would leave their patch with a German translation "You're Next". Would do some wild things to the survivors.

Then again my facts are ~11th hand. So who knows.

Tape mag pulls have been around for ages. They work, no need to spend a fortune getting one for each of your mags.

High speed low drag? I learnt that playing with too much gear on you just slows you down, that's why i now use a minimalist setup on my RRV, and plan on buying a SLICK.

Yeah, 2 mags ain't enough, but how about fastmags/kydex/mag shingles on your belt, reaction hand side? Now that's high speed. Minimal rig + a good belt is the way to go.

EDIT: Sorry for shitty pic, just took it with no sunlight obviously. Will take better pics tomorrow.

Just a friendly suggestion - why not move the MBITR pouch so it is in-line with the shoulder strap on the right?
Then you can run you comms and antenna through the shoulder elastic loops/webbing.

Tape is soo much cheaper. Besides, I've seen Kill game, his tape works better than most "mag rubbers". They also have the benefit of not causing fitment issues as tthe tape pushes down and can be folded. While the colour of the tape he uses bothers me, that's my only complaint.

I personally went a bit fancier, I cut some strips of paracord, put them on my magazine in the position I wanted and then electrical taped around the magazine to hold them into place.

If you want to waste $20 on peices of junk, be my guest, but theres a reason alot of people (Actual military people, not talking about airsofters in particular) still use the tape or tape W/ Paracord method that gave birth to your "mag rubbers", 5 magazines cost me less than a dollar, if I even have to buy the materials, to do, I RARELY if ever replace them, and they work just as well if not better.

Also, Permal, welcome to the world of better gear :P

I'm wondering this myself as there's not too much room on them. In my opinion, it limits some of the advantage of modular systems by removing "real estate"

Gonna try get a pic of my stuff up today, but I switch between a CIRAS (Set up for whatever I need), Some Israeli Defence Force vest I have, Webbing, Chicom and CF Tac vest.

Though the CF tac vest is a peice of shit and I only really bring it out to ensure it's adjusted properly before going out to the field with it. Airsoft gives me the advantage of stopping to adjust it. Once I know it's adjusted I usually throw it back in the car and use one of my other rigs :P

In 99.99% of the time I would totally agree two mags are not enough...but it's an option to run it that way. It is a slick plate carrier and will be used in conjunction with a chest rig for the majority of the time.

Conker October 31st, 2011 12:22

Lowpro plate carrier with on the front: 2 single mag pouches (that fit 2 each, so 4) + radio pouch + 2 pistols mags or 2 frags on the upper area
With at the waist, 2 kydex M4 mag holders (or FASTMAG or similar)

Gives a 4+1 setup, which should be more than enough if you don't run around spraying'n'praying.

Hell often I use about 3 mags in a whole 8 hour game, and that is NOT because I've spent the whole day camping and eating Dorritos.

My current setup (pics soon) is an RBAV with 5+1 at the front, and 4 on the back so if I ever run out of mags, a buddy will be able to give me those I have at the back. That gives more than enough ammo while keeping the profile quite slick.

philster911 October 31st, 2011 15:08

Update again, took pics outside, with all my stuff (excuse the paintball gun and paintball mags, but that's my milsim paintball setup, so...)
Double sewn a velcro panel on my utility pouch this morning (thanks to my mom's sewing machine) and made some changes according to milan's advices, that's how it looks:
http://i597.photobucket.com/albums/t...1/IMG_4390.jpg
http://i597.photobucket.com/albums/t...1/IMG_4400.jpg

Added in picture: Salomon Viaggio Mid GTX (awesome ultralight goretex boots for 110$), MSA sordin w/ TEA, PACA, ILBE pack, EI fanny pack for medical supplies.

And FYI: No there's no hopper on my paintball gun, it's called a magfed gun, and I dont have a spooky HPA bottle hanging in my back with a remote, I'm running 2 little 13/3000 HPA bottles that I directly connect on my gun, so I can switch hands whenever I want, and dont have that bulky remote restraining my movements, and can shoulder my weapon properly because the HPA bottle is lower than my stock. Can only shoot about 90 balls per bottle, but it's totally worth it.

camelbak, well I like all their product, I have two in my closet but more or less I never get to use them out of their intense due to job and availability of usage in my location.

By the way, it's pretty much as you mention above. The one i have is good enough for like a day's hiking, it's only can store 3 L worth of water and an extra pouch fit a few small stuff and snack but since I need to carry my claymore in the game, I add another utility pouch over the original pouch for extra space. That's why I like about the molle system, you can pretty much custom anything you want.

That TT Canteen Pouch...is it a tight fit or does the canteen bop around inside?

-Skeletor- December 10th, 2011 20:05

It's a tight fit for a canteen, bit of a pain to get the canteen back into it when you're wearing the MAV. I'm using it to hold a 500ml nalgene bottle, it's a big loose in the pouch, but is a lot easier to get in/out.

makinitbig December 11th, 2011 23:17

Sold my MARCIRAS, started running a battle belt. Its meh.

Looking at BAE RBAV-AF, anyone have any experience with them? Any input would be appreciated.

Conker December 11th, 2011 23:48

Got an RBAV-SF. If it's any indication of the AF variant, it's great.

Just ordered one from SKD.

Hopefully it lives up to the stunning reviews every ones given it.

NovaKaynE December 20th, 2011 22:55

Here's my 1pc TT MAV in CADPAT TW.

It's still a WIP. Gonna swap out the two OD pouches for a TT SAW pouch soon and add an HSGI mini radio pouch on the left and right side of the rig in place of the two mag shingles.

If he's talking about a real AR, then yea you can have 20 round and 30 round magazines, just as long as they are pinned to 5 or 10 rounds.

Errr, not sure if this is a stupid question, but where can I get the TT (Tactical Tailor?) Universal Mag Pouch in Cadpat?

I don't see it on their website.

panzergrenadier January 17th, 2012 10:30

www.dstactical.com is where you can get em.

NovaKaynE January 17th, 2012 16:56

DS Tactical also has the HSGI Universal Mag Pouches in CADPAT AR and CADPAT TW. There are quite a few TT products on the website that don't come in CADPAT but you may be able to ask them if they have it or can get it.

panzergrenadier January 17th, 2012 16:58

Ya also check the DS Tactical Outlet...
They have a bunch of CADPAT TT items for cheap...
