Thanks Tys, I'd just prefer a longer barrel for the SCAR than the CQB one

Same site...search "SCAR"...they've got outer barrel extensions too.

Eh gang, thought I'd share this with ya's.

Got play in your your receiver, and don't want to use/spend-$ on a "magic-pin"?

Drill a hole in the pin (Careful of depth. If the drill bit goes though to the locking hole without care, the bit could break). Then tap the hole to 3mm. File down the length of the pin, so it's not proud of the receiver.

Then use a 3mm bolt and cone washer (R/C car supplies), and you now have a pin that can compress the receiver together (rather than one that expands, potetially cracking the receiver pivot).

No wobble...solid gun. :)

Please excuse shite pics.

Sweet, part 66 broke off my SCAR finally. Now to get a steel one. Anyone know where to find a ball bearing for the selecter switch? Lost mine because my screw driver dropped on it and the ball went flying.

Quit losing your balls.

On a side note, I haven't seen this part for sale. You might be able to take the selector switch to Active Surplus and try fitting by eye/hand. they have a large selection of ball bearings there.

Try putting an O-ring on the front lug. If it works for real steel, I'm sure it'll work here :P

just tried this and it worked out pretty well. i now have zero wiggle between receivers. basically its just a thin rubber band between the upper and lower. i super glued it into place and trimmed the ends. while it was drying i assembled the upper and lower and pulled on the ends. this was important because stretching a rubber band also makes it thinner. i didnt want to leave the full thickness of the band in there because it would put too much force on the receiver pins. after the glue drys the band remains stretched (thin also!) then i trimmed the edges, and cut down some weird folds in the band caused by the glue drying. now it only requires a little force to close the receiver, but everything locks up nice and tight.

basic positioning of the elastic band

how it should line up on the upper

final result. this is after super gluing and trimming

and yes i also polished the bolt where the hammer bearing rides. racks a lot smoother now and sounds better too.

Sorry I haven't been posting here lately...

Just some updates...

Nice clean summary thread:
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=102339

The clear lower M4's that are selling like hotcakes look and check out exactly like a full metal M4....except for the clear polycarbonate lower receiver. Swapping on a metal receiver is simple and easy.

I've seen enough similar issues to make a general comment on the durability of the SCARS. It seems like the flange of piston body (the black tube that is clipped onto the bolt with a big e-clip) is too weak...seems to be some kind of mild metal. After a given amount of normal use/wear/etc...the flange will open up. So much so that the piston body will "flop" around, leading to nozzle alignment issues and or complete separation. The flange can be "hammered" (really just tapped) back into place to tighten it up, but I don't suspect that that fix will last long.

I understand that RA Tech makes a steel piston body...worth taking a good hard look at.

what is the procedure for removing the inner barrel on the SCAR? there are too grub screws near the hopup on hte outer barrel, then a ring comes out... then what? maybe my barrel is just stuck in? or am I missing something

m102404 April 16th, 2010 11:44

I think there's a youtube video...or some pic-by-pic write up...

I'm having trouble finding a WE metal body. Preferaby a Stag arms but a Colt lower is good too. I'm really thinking about getting a WE m4. They just look so attractive. :D

You won't regret it, the WE Colt trades are awsome but they're much sexier when painted, that's the plan for mine as soon as I get around to it :P

Thenooblord April 17th, 2010 22:26

any1 know who carries SCAR steel triggers? I thought 6mm mag had them but i didnt see any

jamuke April 23rd, 2010 19:41

extended inner barrel for SCAR

I purchased the 363mm from airsoftbuddy. they are for M4 but will fit

You will need to measure and cut a new notch on the barrel as the brass chamber are different size for the scar and m4

other than that, easy peasy
