Hmm...they lack the "coolness" factor, but LeGros is right when he says that we shouldn't be cheap with eye protection. And with such an insane discount...i'll get them most likely :) Thanks!

I'd go with glasses. I love my ESS ice. Since I got them, my Bollé T800 got sacked as my backup (that never was needed).

Make sure the glasses fit your face closely.

MacG!ver February 23rd, 2008 00:38

Ugh..you guys are making me jump back and forth...I think the t800's will do ... lots of fields apparently don't allow glasses of any kind.

Skladfin February 23rd, 2008 00:51

You can get the 800, but if you want to play at Mil Sim games at Panther, you will need a paintball mask.

I reccomend the JT line as well. They are very nicely built with anti-fog protection.

Most mil sim games around here are at Panther, so No PB mask = No Mil sim for you :P(Unless you rent the foggy+scratched PB goggles they have)

Hmm, i'm now leaning towards a JT...they do look pretty awesome. Are all the masks detachabe from the goggles? I'm eyeing this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Paintball-JT-Spe...QQcmdZViewItem

though that is quite expensive...especially having never tried it on.

Skladfin February 23rd, 2008 01:23

that's the best(money/quality wise) JT goggle you can get.
I personally have one and definitely love it.

If you want it right away, you can go to Badland's Paintball store at New West. It's right at Braid Sky train station.

They have it for $90 after tax.

Thats a face only mask, right? I don't want one of those stupid full-head things that those paintball nutters use. And you can detach the goggles?

Skladfin February 23rd, 2008 01:45

Yup it's face only.

Never detached the goggle before simply because I don't know how and I don't know if I can.

If you want to try one on, just go to Badland's paintball, they could show you other ones as well.

super_six_four February 23rd, 2008 01:53

i just stick to the ESS ice

Yes you can. In fact, i had exact mask, just in different colour. Was rather unnerving to have i flex so uneasily... considering there was a paintball coming towards my face at 300fps :D
On the other hand, it will flex and allow you to actually aim down your sights, more or less.

couldn't have said it better. dont cheap out on glasses because no amount of money will buy back your eye. The JT's look pretty useful as well.

jameskersten February 23rd, 2008 02:51

I have my JT goggles in case they are needed like some fields require but I perfer to use my ESS NVG Profile with turbofan. They are by far the best goggle I have ever tried on. As for the goggle vs. glasses debate I will stick to a full sealing form of protection on any field regardless of the field rules. I can't afford to take out an eye.

TokyoSeven February 23rd, 2008 03:25

I have a set of JT goggles with a set of anti fog lenses, they work great. The visor and the face mask come off with ease.
