Online orders = nightmares.
If you are going to buy something from someone. Make sure you check their Trader Rating.

Blitzz40 December 20th, 2007 21:06

Ive only had one bad experience with buying online, i guess im a lucky sob (/me touch wood). A seller on Ebay wanted me to pay 40$ and asked for government papers for shipping. It was for a 10$ small piece of aluminum barrel for a 1/35 model kit , that's my only negative over 180 auctions ive won. Ive learned to ask for shipping cost before bidding.

But there are some other things to check before buying here like it was said.
Traders rating, age verified, personnal infos are one of them. If you are still not sure find someone who can vouch for the buyer/seller here on ASC. But even with those infos, shit happens sometimes.

A month is too long to wait for your money. Especially since it can be transferred instantly electronically.

When I was reffering to double tapping, I meant generally that it pisses me off when people do shitty package jobs. Extra pieces of tape although not very expensive are vital on how a package survives shipping. Wasn't referring to him specifically just venting.

Basically, I bought something for $300 that he was going to get me. When the item arrived he liked it soo much he kept it for himself and would order another one for me. I didn't like that so I wanted a refund, however he used MY money to buy what he kept. He paid me $200 in the first week and has been dragging his ass on the other $100 for over 2 months. As for checking his trader rating, the person had his verified status removed for being a shitty seller, however, he used his brother's account to do the transaction with me, who has positive feedback. It was only after payment was sent that I found out his actual screen name. The fact is I know he has been spending money, on airsoft (IE. posting in for sale adds, attending games, ect) which only puts fuel on the fire.

I mean no system is perfect, even with a lot of feed back, chances of getting screwed over are not 100% its just less likely when dealing with someone.

Anymore horror stories?

I had a package shipped from the states once. Paid $500 US, Guy insured it for $1000 in which I had to pay duties for. Didn't fill in the proper paper work and I had to track his ass down to send the proper info to Fed Ex as it couldn't be cleared. Ended up having to pay another 2% worth of duties as Fed Ex had to get someone to inspect the package. After all that when i got it, I didn't recieve everything that was promised asked him about it, said he shipped it. Filed a paypal dispute and I got it the next day as he shipped it the day of and bam I get a bill from Fed Ex for brokerage fees. $500 item ended up costing 700.

I feel bad for you. Yeah that sounds like ass dragging. He owes you $ but is spending it instead. He should have paid up within a month at the latest.

What can mods do for you? Can you post 1 letter of the username per day? Can you PM the brother to set things right.

Lakonian December 20th, 2007 23:08

This wasn't lazed^out or something like that, was it? :p

TokyoSeven December 22nd, 2007 03:54

I tape the shit out of my packages, but in a manner than a few quick slashes with an exactor knife will open up a package. Its not like to much tape is a bad thing when used properly, As long as the parcel is packaged properly inside the box and deep enough that an exacto blade doesnt damage it.

Usually when I buy or sell, I request a trade or phone number or cell number. In some cases I have texted the EMT password to the buyer and then informed them via PM that the password has been sent to the number that was provided, some folks are not always up for that but its nice when they do agree. Alot of bells and whistles and hoops but this is the world of online shopping and buying, one can never take to many precautions.

oh boy. not much you can do in a situation like this. if he was going to games id get 2 of my biggest friends and ask him nicely *whack whack* give him 3 days and ask him again even more politely. also try to find out where he lives.
but sometimes you just get screwed and have to bite the bullet. what i would do is keep harassing him and harassing him over and over until he finally gives it to you. spread the word that he is a bad dealer and give him bad rep.

look on the bright side, it cold be all 300 bux :)

im not kidding about the getting rough part. sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone to get results.

kalnaren December 22nd, 2007 09:20

This is technically theft. Ever thought of contacting the authorities?

Hedonism Bot December 22nd, 2007 09:34

Am I the only one who thinks this guy's brother should also have his verifyed status revoked?

Allowing a third party to use your account for commerce has got to be a violation. It totally undermines the whole point of age verification and trader ratings.

I'd like to know the screen names involved so that I canavoid them in the future.

Chitown December 22nd, 2007 10:21

Sorry to hear of your dilemma Tank. I really hope it sorts itself out for you. Some people are just arseholes and have nothing better to do than to screw around.
I'm having a similar experience with two clowns right now. they pm me interested in my M1A1.
They plead "please put it aside pending payment"(to reserve it) and so I package it up real well, making it bomb proof and wait. I get contact info and words of assurances that payment is on the way. Well no sign of payment. I email and pm. NADA!
Please have the common courtesy to be truthful of your interest in said item and at least fire off an email or pm. Maybe a reply would be nice? Maybe someone else would like the item?
Others want the price to go lower. I'm selling stuff because I'm outting from airsoft. My stuff is brand new and having just been used to display. They want the moon and the sky. I try to be fair and sell it to the price they want with the damn shipping included. Guess what? still not good enough. Now, they want to send half now and half later. I tell them I'm willing to go the price they want ,but in return, they must follow my payment terms. My feedback is all good.
Will I accept empty pop bottles? and what they will find in their piggy banks? Very frustrating!

I've had nothing, but great transactions so far in the past and it's only until recently that things have gotten really wacky.
Good luck to you Tank, and keep us posted. It's amazing that some people will dirty their reps for $100.
I say that there should be a hall of shame with names mentioned for deadbeat sellers and buyers in order to protect future customers and sellers.

Happy Holidays to all!
